Poor communication. Over-billing and lack of response from the manager, Katrina. I was charged for x-rays at the dentist's office despite having initially declined them. I had scheduled the appointment in advance and was assured that all required records and x-rays had been provided to their office. On the day of my visit, I was informed that the x-rays had not been received and would need to be performed in order to proceed with a cleaning. Although I declined the x-rays, they were performed anyways and I was billed. I contacted the office multiple times over a 30-day period to address this issue. Each time, staff claimed they had spoken with Katrina, the manager, yet I never received a response directly from her. I would not recommend this office due to over-billing, poor communication, and a lack of patient-centric care. I suggest looking elsewhere for your dental needs. read more

My husband has gone to this dentist for 30 years. I have been going around 19. May 2024 we made our 6 month appt for 9:00 am. November came we get the text and it was changed to 10:00 am without our knowledge. This was not going to work so my husband and I rescheduled for another time at 9:00 am. I called and left a message with the office manager. To this day no call was ever returned. They could not get us back into the office until yesterday 05/30/25. On Tuesday I said let me call to make sure no screw ups. Needless to say that was not the case. My husband appointment was at 9:00 am however mine was changed again to 10:00 am without my knowledge. I would be the first to say I LOST IT ..... I had to apologize to the young lady on the phone. What got me was we were totally dismissed. No consideration for people time or anything. How can you make an appointment for a time and change it without someone knowledge. If I accepted what they were doing with my appointment and not said anything. They will continue to do it. So on Thursday afternoon around 4:45 pm I get a text. My appointment was canceled due to the way I talk to the person on the phone. I was told that I could never come back. That was fine with me because they don't value my business anyway. This would have never happened if you handle the office business like you suppose too. All this tells me of VERY POOR mgmt. My husband canceled his appointment 30 minutes prior. We are having all of our files transferred to another office. He said it was because of him I was there in the first place. I really didn't want to write this review, but I've called three times asking to speak to someone about my experience and I've gotten the cold shoulder. That being said - I couldn't recommend this place less. This is the worst experience I've had with any type of healthcare provider in my entire life. I grind my teeth and was going to be fitted for a nightguard, the dentist recommended going for a lower guard initially, and we could do both and upper and lower later on if the lower didn't work. They told me my out of pocket would be ~$600, I've had bite guard covered in the past so I called my insurance to verify this after my consult. After speaking to my insurance company they confirmed it was covered, so I communicated this with the office so that at my next appointment I could have both impressions done, in case things didn't work with just one (insurance will only let this particular procedure be billed once every 24 months) This didn't get communicated to the tech, which happens I understand, but when I tried to explain what was going on I was met with condescension. She then "confirmed" with her insurance person in house that only one of the two night guards were covered despite my conversation with my insurance company. After the appointment (where I only had my lower done) I called yet again to my insurance company to confirm that they cover this and was told again, they do, and that they cover both upper and lower night guards. The insurance company then called Charlotte Dentistry to communicate that with them. I then had a rep of Charlotte dentistry call me and explain that they understood what was going on, that my previous visit wouldn't be charged to insurance, my next appointment would do both impressions and they apologized for the misunderstanding. I then arrive at my appointment today to be met with that same tech telling me I could pay out of pocket "if I was so sure" my insurance company covered things. I explained to them that this was wrong and after 15 minutes of attempting to tell them what was going on, I walked out. This office lacks communication both internally amongst staff and with external insurances. The arrogance and complete disregard for patients communication with their insurance company is appalling. I wouldn't trust a single thing that they told me about insurance benefits - it truly feels like they're guessing. My wife was going to go there for Invisalign and won't be any longer, nor will we ever return. I strongly encourage people who do attend here to be advocates for their own insurance, because Charlotte dentistry will not do the basic due diligence on insurance verification, much less go above and beyond for patient care. read more

After many years of going to this practice I have had for the past six months the worst experiences in my dental history. They couldn't find my 6 month cleaning appointment so I was sent home made another and it was cancelled. When I finally went in one of my teeth was in trouble and they extracted. Since then the healing is slow and when I made an apt. I went in and the dentist asst. asked why I was there? Seriously! Horrid with Dr Woffzinger who was of no assistance but give me novacaine to stop the pain and tell me he was puzzled about my pain. Seriously? Not a Christian practice despite its many scriptures. Charlotte Denistry is an excellent dentistry, with great people and care. I just had a major procedure and the Dentist and Dental Assistant were both very good, nice/friendly and concerned with my care the entire time. Main thing for me is that I have experienced pain since having the work done yesterday morning. Also, I see some of the 1 star ratings. When you miss an appt or don't pay a bill, they will work with you the best they can. Appointment rescheduling is always difficult when you have a very good dental provider. read more

Charlotte Dentistry was recommended to me by a co-worker when I needed a new dentist in Charlotte. It was very easy to set up an appointment via phone. The receptionist emailed me new patient forms to fill out and the procedures for day of. This large dental practice was something very different than what I have been to in the past. There is a giant parking lot with orthodontics on the first floor and general Dentistry on the second floor. There is a very large waiting room and I waited with about a dozen patients in waiting room. Having only been to small 1-2 doctor practices in the past, I wasn't sure what to expect when it comes to personal touch and bedside manner. I was pleasantly surprised that Myra my hygienist was very personable and seemed to put extra care into getting to know me, my dental history, and explaining every touch, pick, and scrape to me. The dentist who performed a brief exam was nice and seemed to put care into getting to know me. However, like most dentists that I have experienced, she did not spend more than 5 minutes with me or looking at and commenting on my teeth. I have pretty average teeth with little to no problems (knock on wood), so that could be a logical explanation. I was very happy that Myra scheduled my next cleaning with her before I left the room. I cannot imagine going to a different hygienist each visit and hope to continue with this practice. I look forward to having Myra work perform my cleaning! I have been going to Charlotte Dentistry for over two decades, but today is the last time I will EVER step foot in the building again after the way I was treated. I went for a cleaning and was called into the back office with someone in billing and I had an outstanding balance of $289 that had not been paid from a crown that I had done in December of 2022. the lady was so rude to me and made me feel awful as I wouldn't be able to be seen for a cleaning when I have dental insurance. I would have paid the bill without any issues had I known. I've never been treated so poorly by a business I've been loyal to for over two decades. I don't know when customers service became non existent there. I'll stand buy the receptionist being the kindest person in the buildin, but the person in billing treated me like I was trash Over a small bill that i didn't know about. I have been a patient at Charlotte Dentistry for 15+ years. The thorough cleanings and friendly employees keep me coming back for more. Yes, I realize how weird that sounds in context of dental cleanings and fillings... As almost everyone else has mentioned, Tracy is awesome! She's off on Fridays and I actually find myself avoiding scheduling cleanings on Fridays so that I don't miss her. My daughter has been a patient for many years since she was in elementary school. The women with the letter R in the orthodontics dept was terrible she acted very inconsiderate. She gave us the sense that she wanted me to hurry up and say why I was calling. When I explained she made me feel as though what I was saying was unimportant and that it did not matter, and when she had to call me back to tell me that they do not accept my daughter's new insurance and of course I asked why she acted bothered and uninterested. She obviously is in the wrong industry for she did not have a care bone in her body. This woman needs a coaching on how to CARE for the patients and treat them accordingly. I am so disappointed that my daughter and I had to get different medical insurance to get us through for now but how unfortunate is it to feel that she was above us and could not of at least had some compassion regardless. read more

(An update has been appended) I called the office the day of my visit and they quoted me a price to get my teeth cleaned and x-rays - approx. $200. After the service the technician gave me a $300 bill. Some of that was for being a new customer, which I wasn't as I had been there once before. And...why would you charge someone for being a NEW customer. What a way to entice new clients. Being on disability that was alarming. Dentist are the leading practitioners of MONEY. There is no doubt. Update: the dentist practice adjusted their charges and refunded me $80, and I will continue to go back. BUT, as an awareness warning, after the same experience now with 3 dentists in Charlotte: "The most frequent dental scams are inflating claims, delivering worthless treatment that patients don't need and billing insurers for phantom treatment that the dentist never delivered," he says. One-star reviews are extremely rare for me (this is only my second one), and I don't do so lightly. I went to this dentist for years when I lived in Charlotte, from 1996 to 2009. They seemed to be okay, though I had a few issues here and there. Once one dentist left me so long that the numbing for a small cavity filling wore off before he got back. Had to re-inject me and wait again while that one took effect. Another dentist (no longer works here) and the dental hygienist talked in a foreign language for a few seconds while they were working on me...and you know what that means as far as what (who) they were talking about...very uncomfortable... I've been blessed with pretty good teeth -- have only had two cavities that I remember, and those were tiny...one didn't even require numbing, and the other was borderline so I opted for it (the aforementioned absentee dentist). I also had a couple of "clean and seals" where they grind out a soft spot in your enamel and then seal it to prevent it from becoming a cavity. I've since moved to another city and had to get another dentist here locally. On my first visit it was quickly determined that my new dentist would have to re-do everything that this dentist's office had done. One of my (tiny -- hello?! this shouldn't have been hard!) cavity fillings had since fallen out, unbeknownst to me, and the seals were both poorly done and were leaking. One of the seals was so bad that decay had formed under it and was starting to get bad -- nothing the new dentist couldn't clean out and fix up, but -- SHEESH! My new dentist blasted out both seals, cleaned the decay under the one tooth, and redid the seals properly. He also replaced the now-missing filling on the tiny cavity. Needless to say, I just dropped $300 (my out-of-pocket after insurance) to have this dentist office's work redone. Not happy. read more

13 years and counting as a patient. Cant say enough great things about this dental office. They have numerous doctors and 25+ hygenists. This is a HIGH VOLUME office.... but you never feel like it. The hygenists are super friendly. Some are more aggressive than others...but i always leave feeling like I leave with super clean chompers. Ive had a couple filling over the years. That went well. Ive also used their orthodontic department downstairs for Invisalign braces. That was a fantastic experience as well. They are an ELITE provider of Invisalign. My teeth are perfectly straight and the doctors ask you opinion on how they look and ask if you feel like they need to be adjusted further. It takes time...but they are really attentive. Tracy, the first person you see in the reception area has been there forever and she tends to remember me every visit.....and if she doesnt...she fakes it well. Shes always cheerful. Go check this place out. You wont be disappointed. Also, i choose 8:30 am appointments for a reason. If you choose a later appointment, the chance of the client before you running behind is possible and then you have to wait a bit longer. Nothing major....just a tip. read more

I went to the dentist this morning, and EVEN THOUGH I need a filling, I still feel the need to review this spot as it has been my only dentist here in Charlotte. With that said, I don't hate the dentist -- I probably could have taken a nap. Katie cleaned my teeth this morning. She was softspoken, so kind, and kind of just let me lay there. She wasn't forceful in her cleaning and just had a really good aura around her. Dr. Smith was my dentist of the day (I have seen two others and all have been nice). The staff is always very friendly, and I hope I don't jinx future appointments, but they are ALWAYS on time and/or I know I have been called back in early. This morning, I was in and out in 45 minutes. Now, the 1-star dock. The rooms and environment feels a bit dated. I don't love the suction cup thing and the water pik at all. I really wish they would upgrade to the sinks at each of the chairs so you can sit up and rinse when you want. My dentist back in VA had these and it just feels cleaner. The facility just needs a little polishing and it would definitely be 5-star tooth-fairy approved. read more

I moved down to Charlotte from Ohio where I had the same dentist almost my entire life. I was afraid I would not find another office that compared to mine back home which i really loved. But it came time for a cleaning so I resorted to trusty Yelp to help me find my new spot! Charlotte Dentistry had great reviews and after researching on their site, I decided to make an appointment. I have to say, this even tops my beloved dentists office back home! the receptionist, gosh shes a hoot! Always smiling and super friendly. Check in was a breeze even as a new patient. I only waited about 10 minutes before my hygienist, Amy came to greet me. She as well as all the other hygienists were so bubbly, warm, and friendly. What I really want to applaud them on was while Amy was starting my cleaning, she explained to me she already put the light on for the dentist to come in so I wouldnt have to wait around for him after the cleaning was done. How awesome!! Dr. Walker came in about halfway through the cleaning so Amy paused for him to look at my X-rays and check my teeth. He was so friendly and he took the time to actually explain my x-rays to me which I have never had done before. I did wait a while even though my appointment was at 830, when they opened, and they weren't really prepared to do the work i requested when i made the appointment. Im not happy that i have to wait a month to get a crown even though they have an on site lab... They waited until they started the process to tell me that... Typically a crown takes a week or two to get back, when i asked why so long they said they were really busy- week guess what, that's not my problem and i would have went elsewhere had i known that prior to my arrival. Everybody was friendly and professional though so i can't fault them for it. I'll go back in the future, but it's not a life-changing dentist experience. read more

I was initially pleased with regular check-ups and cleanings when I switched to Charlotte Dentistry after my excellent dentist that I had for 20 years in South Charlotte retired. I went to this practice as I heard it advertised on New Life 91.9 Christian radio station, and that Charlotte Dentistry supported and sponsored various Christian activities through New Life 91.9. I had a lot of insurance questions as my place of work had switched our coverage. Although the front office staff were nice and friendly, I was not used to such a huge dental practice which did make me feel somewhat more like a number and more difficult to build a relationship (not as personalized). The problem came when I was scheduled to have an old silver amalgam filling from my teens replaced with a natural colored tooth filling. The rest was history.......and frankly a nightmare! I did not know the particular dentists very well and had asked for one who was well trained with experience and would do a superior job with the filling, even though it was a somewhat basic procedure. I was assured and assigned a female dentist. During the procedure, it was nothing less than a "circus". The dentist and her female assistant were rougher in my mouth than any male dentist had ever been...shoving a wedge in my mouth and physically holding my body. It was AWEFUL!! The worst part came when I saw something fly out of my mouth and asked what was going on. The dentist replied, "Why look there! A piece of your tooth just went flying across the room!" I was terrified and angry stating that I take good care of my mouth and take pride in my natural teeth! The dentist just replied that "It happens sometimes during the process of taking out the silver amalgam fillings". I NEVER experienced anything like it in my life at close to age 50 at that time! Needless to say, I met with Dr. Armstrong regarding the issues and then left the practice. What is even worse, is that they falsified my dental chart records when I asked for a copy of them......with negative highlighting throughout! A Christian dental practice??? I wish I could give a negative review as this place is horrible. They keep you waiting before you go back, however, they stress being on time when they confirm your appointment which makes a statement that their time is more valuable that the patients because it is fine for them to run behind but not you. The other big issue is billing and insurance filing. They continue to send you invoices when your insurance company verifies the exact amount you owe which does not match what they are billing you. It takes numerous phone calls and even then it is still not resolved. This place is like a dental factory and the goal is to pack as many people in and they are bearded in and out. There is no personal touch and you never see the same dentist each time you go. I would NEVER go here as it is just a horrible place all around. read more

Have been going here for 3-5 years on and off for cleaning and had no issues. Front desk lady is very nice and lovely. My issue is with whoever runs this money leech of a dental office. Their typical protocol is to do consultations and immediate service on the same day (my ex. night guard). I believe this is so you don't have time to compare prices. They charged over 210% of the market rate as quoted by other local dentists probably because my insurance covered a large amount. Also got a bill for random misc services during my teeth cleaning which is supposedly fully covered by insurance. (The owner replied to a comment here saying they will try to notify customers of any price change, I strongly disagree) EDIT: Spoke to my insurance who told me this dentist only is covered 80% for teeth cleaning. The office called me to request the new insurance information which I provided prior to the visit, seems as though they only checked the coverage after the service. Still unhappy about it either way. I would be careful of this group and will never go back here again. Will continue to warn everyone to be cautious of this office if they decide to go. I moved to Charlotte from out of state in 2011. I needed to find a good dentist so I started to research and google reviews of local dental offices. Charlotte Dentistry stood out. They had fantastic reviews for the most part, so I decided to try them. I had a superb dentist for 20+ years that every dentist since has commented on his superior work. I have lived in many states and subsequently I've tried my share of dentists; so I believe I know a good dentist and dental practice, and this place isn't it. The dentist was rude. He was abrasive. They charged me huge sums for minor work and billed my insurance in a way as to charge me, the patient, the most money. I've worked in insurance billing and they could have run it differently but asking them to was like pulling teeth. The minute they felt I was unhappy about dropping $1500 out of pocket on a couple of cavities (2) they were even nastier. I also took my son (he was 6) there and what a joke! The dentist checked him and said, "good job brushing", blah, blah. I asked if he had any cavities and she said ONE! I was happy. We left and I called back a week later to schedule his filling and the lady says he has 4 cavities! I said, "no he has one." She insisted the chart said 4. I was upset but figured somehow the dentist misunderstood me so I let it go. I then took my son to a pediatric dentist as Charlotte Dentistry (after telling me they treat cavities in kids) said they couldn't treat him. All the work was finished at the pediatric dentist. I take my son back to CD for his next 6 month exam. (long story, but my insurance only covers one pediatric dentist, and he's in Newton so we can't go just for exams). I give CD another shot. This time after the dentist checks him he again doesn't state if he has cavities. So I have to ask again. I clearly ask if my child has cavities and he says NO. I keep asking to make sure there can be no misunderstanding. He keeps saying no. I ask him to call my pediatric dentist in the future to coordinate care. He agrees. 2 weeks later he calls me and says he talked to my PD and my son has 2 cavities! I called my PD and they are shocked and say they never said that and my son has no cavities according to their charts. I call CD back and pretty much go off. Please don't go there. My son had no cavities; these people are clueless and they can't ever be straight with you. Plus they charged $700 more (almost double) for the work I needed. Also, for any of you moving to Charlotte be aware that dental care costs about 20% more above the national average. I was really surprised at how costly dental work is here compared to all the other places I've lived, including large metropolitan cities. read more

i've been going here since i moved to Charlotte. The first cleaning here was a bit rough with the girl having a hell of a time with the floss and my 'tight' teeth, but the cleaning battle may have been a result of it being an overdue trip to the dentist after a year and a half hiatus. The second trip was much better and i've been requesting that same cleaning person from then on. i did have some work done here with some fillings and didn't have any problems. The lady at the front desk is probably one of the nicest people (possibly in the world). She will chat with all the folks, nearly to a fault not really concerned with the long line forming, but if being too friendly is a fault, what an unfortunate world. Once inside, the place has a ton of rooms and if i didn't request the same person, i would feel no connection with this place at all. i don't even know if the same dentist checks on me every time or who even did my fillings. Despite the lack of connection, they do a good job at getting you in and out which when going somewhere i don't care to be is the most important thing. read more
