What can I say, another satisfied customer. I'd brought my CB200 everywhere before finding out about Charlie's. Now I won't take her to anyone else. Bonus tip, Vintage Honda paint master Jack McCann works here and this new year I decided to treat my bike to a new paint job. And I'm glad I did. Bikes looking and running better than ever. Highly recommend.

My bike parked in my office. And I ride it every day as well!

Charlie's Place is the only place you should take your vintage Honda! Charlie is a perfectionist and only works on Hondas. Period. And he's the best in the world. He re-built my 1969 Honda CL450 from the ground up (after I had spent $7,000 at another place where I literally had to take it out of there in boxes!) and it's literally one of the best looking vintage motorbikes in the world. Period. It's a 46 year old bike and I ride it EVERY SINGLE DAY, to work and for fun on the weekends. It always starts right up, and I've already put 8000 miles on it in one year from riding so much) They almost put my bike on the cover of Cafe Racer magazine, but it was "too perfect" for them! (They like the more grungy look, oh well.) But, if you don't mind your bike being too perfect, Charlie is the guy. You can see my bike on his site (it's the black with gold trim CL450 that has the letters HM for Honda Motors on the tank.)

Charlie didn't have any mufflers that would fit on my vintage Honda trails bike so he welded a patch and remounted the bracket on my broken one.

Meeting and talking with Guillaume is what really sold me on this shop. He was genuine, friendly, knowledgeable and I immediately got great vibes from this guy. When I say this is one of the best shops in L.A., I say that having dealt with many over 40+ yrs. If you need work done on your bike and you want an honest, vastly knowledgeable motorcycle mechanic who will treat you with courtesy and respect; one who can work on virtually ANY make or model, charges fair, competitive prices and gets the jobs done as quickly as possible, then Starter Cycles is the place for you. I highly recommend Stater Cycles.

Guillaume got everything sorted and now my bike runs better than it ever has. Also, extra kudos to Guillaume for identifying and fixing a few tricky things that I hadn't noticed. I highly recommend that you use Starter Cycles for all of your motorcycle repairs/servicing. *Google maps may give you strange directions to the shop. It's located under the Western Avenue elevated overpass between Flower and San Fernando. If you're coming from I-5, take Western Ave north, and before you fully cross Flower St., take the side access road on the right side and drive next to the overpass columns until you see the low brick wall with a white gate at 808 Western Ave. Take a 90 degree left at that point and drive under the overpass and into the driveway. The shop is all the way back on the right side. There's a sign on the open garage door that says don't enter the area, but it's ok for customers to walk in. Note that Starter Cycles shares shop space with a vintage Honda restorer (Charlie's Place LA). As you enter the shop, Charlie's Place LA is in front of you, and Starter Cycles is to the left.

Javier offered me water and is very personable. He wiped my bike down multiple times to clean off the oil and brake fluid. He did a final inspection to make sure no residue was left on any surface, rode the bike to test it out, and thanked me for my business. I couldn't replace my own oil on my Rebel 500 because of a damaged oil drain plug. Took the bike to RevXotic Motorsports and met Javier. He showed me the right socket necessary to take the plug off. I didn't know different shaped sockets existed. While changing the oil he adjusted my chain. He verified my concern that motor oil should be changed at least once a year to remove contaminants. He also added that brake fluid should be changed out once a year but did not solicit a brake fluid change/flush. I went ahead and did a brake fluid change and was glad I did because the front brake fluid was hardening. Javier treated me like a friend and my bike was all that mattered in the shop. Thank you Javier for answering my questions and concerns with patience and thoroughness. Although I have little experience visiting bike shops I am convinced my service was reasonable and competitive. I would definitely visit RevXotic for my next service.

Anthony was extremely helpful in diagnosing the issue with my motorcycle that two different Harley Davidson dealerships could not fix. I had video proof that my bike went down the road crooked and Harley said there was nothing wrong with it. Anthony/Ground Zero was able to laser align my motorcycle and also find issues that Harley Davidson made while reinstalling all new parts on my motorcycle from a minor collision back in July of last year. Anthony's ability is superseded by no one. He's been in the business I believe over 30 years and his work ethic and attention to detail shows it. Nothing but positive things to say about him and his son. Support your local family owned business! Thanks again Anthony! And thanks to your son as well!

With that being said, I fully believe he took the insurance money and used it on other bikes. My husband then found out a part that they were suppose to order they never did. My husband 4months later had to call and order the part for his bike, come to find out they no longer make that part. Then they had to get back ahold of the insurance company for more money because of the from wheel???? My husband was in a front end collision- why the heck wouldn't you check that when you initially got the bike? My husband had the insurance give us the check until the bike was don't then we could cash the check to pay for the week. The shop canceled the wheel and said they won't fix it until they're paid! No! You have had my husbands bike for a YEAR! They refuse to answer my husband on when he can get his bike or even answer him so they can sit down and figure out the issues. They're severely unprofessional and this is really starting to Piss Me Off! Got the bike yesterday! The primary fucking clacks like a s.o.b and clutch chatters like crazy when you let it out. They told my husband the bike was fully done and ready. They still refused to get him a new front wheel like they're suppose to. The owner told us one thing and then told us something else over and over again. You took almost ayear to fix this bike- while still working on other bikes that came into the shop after my husbands and pushed Thoes out like nothing. You say because they paid when bringing their bikes in so theirs got done- OUR INSURANCE PAID YOU OUT! the same week the bike landed in your shop. You admitted yesterday you have no working capital (small business owner) my husband runs a small business and his business makes sure they have working capital. You admitted that you took the money out insurance paid you and used it for other people's bikes, which then lead to you not having the money to fix my husbands bike! Over the course of 10 months- this shop not only took a check and cashed it from my insurance, they took that money and used it on other bikes, when asked if they ordered all the parts - they said yes, come to find out they did not. This lead to my husband having to order the parts for them, then the shop has to go back to my insurance to do another claim on the wheel (should have been done in the first place) then because now our insurance is pissed that the bike isn't even done 10 months later- sends me the check for the wheel, we told the shop get the wheel and I'll hand you the cash for it- they said no we cancelled it. Yesterday He said no we didn't even bother to order it. My husband over the course of 10 months- every time he tried to call or text the owners or Anthony we received some stupid ass excuses or no response at all. Over the course of 10 months- they told us that it would be done Friday (7times) then when it's that certain Friday we get no answer, show up and no one is there. This shop does good on pulling frames I give them that! Probably the best places to take it if that is all you need done. But this shop plays stupid games, can never get their story straight! Now that we have our bike back- not even fully done even though they were paid to out and make it fully done and safe to ride, we had to fucking tow it out of that shop. We will not recommend this shop nor will we ever go back!
