We live close to Charlie's although we are typically Brooklyn Square ppl. I wandered in to Charlie's a few weeks back when in the mood for a good slice. I ordered a nice thick Sicilian slice and it was really good. Nice airy crust with a good sauce / cheese ratio. Last night we were in the mood for plain, cheese pizza. We didn't feel like driving too far so we went on-line qnd ordered the large pie special w/ 1 topping for $18.99. My wife placed the order with extra cheese. We left the house 10 min later, took the 3 min drive. I jumped out of the car and ran in. The pie was ready. I paid and we went home. Upon opening the box the pizza was beautiful although I wish I would've asked for well-done (my preference). We sprinkled some garlic powder and red pepper and enjoyed the pizza. It was fresh and delicious. And ordering on-line was seamless. Truly a great experience start to finish. read more

The pizza and salads are great and I would give 5 stars but I will not be going back after 2/16/25. They were blasting gangster rap music over the speaker system at a very uncomfortable volume. While I was waiting for my order, some of the lyrics I was subjected to hearing were about the rappers big black dick and how he " busts a nut on whores ". In another song, the rapper was talking about shooting up his ops in a drive by shooting one can only assume and kidnapping people. This is Toms River, not the Newark Housing Authority or Bedstuy Brooklyn. This is supposed to be a family place, not a fambly place. Also some of the kids working there were dropping the F bomb like crazy in the back. Maybe they were understaffed and hired some drunken sailors for the day to fill in. I couldn't imagine a father or mother sitting there with their kids having pizza, which is a regular occurrence in that place. Definitely a downgrade, embarrassment and a disappointment. read more

Takes order - charges card. Ok. Delivery Driver tells us we needed to pay bc the counter chick didn't give him the cc receipt. Chicken parm- 2 pieces of crazy thin chicken and ziti on the side with no sauce. Chicken Francese - 2 pieces of over grilled chicken (not requested) that was so dry I could use it as fire wood. A disgusting lemon sauce that was thick like pudding. Garlic Bread that was not sliced and stuck to the tinfoil I had to sit and pick it all off the bread. Two salads - 1 dressing. $60+ wasted when we just needed a night off from cooking. Apparently so did Charlie's. I guess it's being run by muppets now ? Back to Linda's for us. read more

This is our local pizza spot so we go there frequently. It's solid and service has always been good for us. They have an online ordering app so it's easy to order and pick up. Masks required to enter. In addition to plain cheese, we often get the margarita pizza and the white pie, which are both good. Well first thing is first. This place is literally 2 min from my house. And I understand I am not the only person ordering dinner. The order took over an hour and when I finally got the food it was ice cold and missing items. When I called to tell them about the mistake I sat on hold for 5 minutes. They had told me they were going to send out the missing food but it was going to take a while. I told them to forget it and to refund my card. They said they couldn't do that and offered to give me a credit for next time. So basically I paid 35 bucks for a sub and a side of meatballs. I will not be ordering from here again. Overall their menu is good and what is offered is very tasty. I am not however a fan of the margarita pizza. Instead of just the tomatoes or tomato sauce they had something more like a bruschetta with onions(?). I'll stay with the traditional pie from now on. read more

Decided on Charlie's Fischer Blvd. for our 1st NFL weekend. Got a plain garlic-bread which was $4.00, stale and the opposite of moist and fresh. Got a large antipasto salad which was mediocre but didn't even come with enough oil & vinegar dressing to cover it. Time to find a new pizza restaurant. There have been several occasions where I got the wrong order or my order wasn't correct. They don't offer refunds, only verbal store credit on future orders (I got no gift card or written confirmation). They also charge a "service fee," a "credit card fee," a "delivery fee," and a "pickup fee!" They actually charge the customer to pick up their own food!! When I complained about the pick up fee, I was told they have "always done that." If that's the case, silly me for not checking my charges more closely in the past, but more importantly shame on you, Charlie's, for taking advantage of your customers. Wow - so disappointed tonight. Charlie's is one of our usual go to spots ( over 15 yrs) for pizza, pasta, hot heroes. Usually no issue using on line ordering as far as pick up time and accuracy. Not tonight - placed an on line order 1 hour before the requested pick up time. Got there on time, order was not ready - 10 min later, still not ready. 20 min later, still not ready. 25 min after the time it was supposed to be ready, the order is finally packed up and handed to us. We asked who was in charge - a gruff older man replied " do you want the food or not?" This is the service I get for leaving a 20% tip? The 2 girls at the front are constantly laughing, on their phones, and honestly don't even know how to act polite. I came here with my family and so far it was horrible. The male people that were there were either depressed or laughing with those 2 clowns at the front, honestly I'm not even shocked that the store is barely empty now. When I paid for the pizza and not leave a tip for the one of the clowns at the front, she scoffed and gave me a shit attitude. Hopefully this pizza place either shuts down, hires new staff, or fires whoever is in charge for handling these "workers." Super busy on a Saturday night, so it was hard to find parking. We had a slice of mushroom pizza and a ham and cheese calzone. My pizza was nothing special, kind of tasted like canned mushrooms. The calzone was more dough and cheese than anything, I think there were two slices of ham in it? But that plus two drinks, came out to be $18, so a bit pricier than I was expecting. I just wanted to say that Charlie's pizza on Fischer Blvd is THE ONLY pizza place in Ocean County that has consistently good pizza and consistently good delivery service. We've been down here for almost 9 years and have tried every pizza place in the area and they never disappoint. When you ask for thin crust, well done...you get a thin crust, well done pizza. When you ask for a dollop of ricotta on your kids sized linguine...you get a dollop of ricotta on your linguine. That sounds rudimentary but I can't tell you how many times I've ordered from other places with simple requests and they are either ignored or done wrong. Worst delivery and service I have ever experienced. Charlie's offers an online ordering, similar to chain pizza places like Pizza Hut. I set the order time for 2:30pm, I hop in the shower and get out around 1:30, door bell rings. Um, ok? I answer the door, "Do you have another card or cash? You're credit card was declined, tried it three times." I apologized saying I have no other form of payment. "I can't just give you the food you know." So I nicely said, not asked even though I did question "can you wait 5 min I can figure this out." He says "no" drives away with my food. As irritated by that, I called up the place and told them "hi I placed an order for delivery and my card was declined three times, the delivery guy drove off after I told him to wait, my card is good now I made a transfer." And he says, "your card was declined three times I tried it already." Really? Instead of ignoring my complaint about him driving off right there, you tell me you tried it three times? TELL ME SOMETHING I DO NOT KNOW! He eventually tried it a fourth time, it worked, and I didn't catch what he said after, so I said "I'm sorry?" And he says "yeah bye." With that being said, the same delivery guy comes back, I apologized (even though he was the one who drove off) and my apology was non-existent. "Sign here, pen is in there." I signed, handed me pizza, forgot my fries back at the restaurant, so he began apologizing and threatened his own coworkers, saying he "is going to shoot them." I do not get my pizza from anywhere else and if I do, I turn my nose up at it. Haha. My boyfriend put it perfectly, it's that slice of pizza that folds and doesn't flop. It's crispy on the bottom but not throughout, but to too doughy. Their sauce is amazing, too! Doesn't give you heartburn like some can. I order from Charlie's pretty frequently, mostly because it's convenient and consistent. The pizza is okay - I've definitely had better, but I've also had way worse - but their calzones are nicely done. I stay with the small ones to make sure they aren't undercooked at all; nothing like a mouthful of raw pizza dough, and I have had that happen here once. I've eaten just about everything they have on the menu over the last ten years, and as with anywhere, some things are better than others, The hot and cold subs are generally very good, though the cheesesteaks are nothing to write home about. I'm of the opinion that they should toast the hot subs in the oven for a bit, but they don't, so that's that. The baked dishes are pretty standard; I often get the eggplant rollatini, and my wife seems to like the lasagna. She also orders the chicken parmesan from time to time, which I have also had, and it's not bad at all. Bear in mind, this is not a Michelin starred restaurant, it's a take-out pizza joint, and you get what you pay for. Contrary to a previous reviewer's assertion, the food is not terrible, nor is it "grossly overpriced". But you already know to disregard people who feel the need to use more than one exclamation point, I'm sure. The buffalo wings on offer are actually very good, but they're a bit stingy with the blue cheese, so make sure you ask for extra, even with the small order. I also suggest that the more toppings you add to your pizza, the better it is going to taste. The pizza sauce they use is a bit salty, and adding toppings obscures that fact. As I said previously, the restaurant is very consistent; everything always tastes exactly the same as it did the time before, so there is no guesswork necessary. If you like shrimp scampi, and you didn't care for it when you first ordered it here, there's no need to try a second time. Conversely, if you enjoyed something, it too will taste exactly the same the second, third, and twentieth times around, and that is a key to any successful restaurant, and why I've been ordering from Charlie's for at least a decade. read more

I had a white slice with broccoli and a plain and my fiance got BBQ chicken (white pie) and cheese steak. We shared a soda and it was only $12.00, which I I think wasn't to bad of a price.
