Charlies Auto Tech is my favourite place I have ever taken my car. A few years ago when we moved to the area, my wife's car needed some work doing so I took it to Charlies and told them what I think it needed doing. A few hours later Mike called me and told me that some of the things I thought needed doing actually didn't need doing at all, which saved us money. Since then it is the only place I take either of our cars and they will regularly tell me when something I think needs doing doesn't need doing yet. They will also openly tell me if they recommend I take my car somewhere else (I had a cosmetic issue with a soft top convertible roof and they recommended someone who specialises in this). It is so rare to find a business where you trust them to turn down work if your car doesn't need something doing when you think it does. They worked with me and let me know everything they were going to do. So glad I found Charlie's auto tech. This family owned shop goes above and beyond with their services. My Lexus Gx470 only has 110k miles and was showing a code for its catalytic converter. It is not a cheap part to replacement and most other shops would've told me to just get it replaced but Mike gave me a very reasonable and doable solution to try before shelling out some major dollars to replacing it possibly prematurely. Charlie's Auto Tech is great. The front lights on my car stopped working. Mercedes of Anaheim told me it was not just the lights, but instead an electrical problem that would be $2700 to fix. I had called for a quote on an alternator (the AAA tow person told me 100% that it was my alternator), but Mike was able to determine, over the phone, that that was a mis-diagnosis. When I called to ask about a new clutch, I knew right away I was talking to an expert. He knew exactly what was wrong and didn't just give me a standard answer about a resurface like everyone else. While in the shop, he wouldn't take money from the guy ahead of me after diagnosing a problem the guy didn't want to have fixed. When working on the car he kept me aware of the progress and didn't change the price after the job took much longer than expected (this is common on my truck and not a reflection on them). When I arrived to pay, he gave me a cash discount without asking for one. Wasn't the cheapest quote but was accurate, knowledgeable, friendly and available.
