Excellent, excellent service. It's very refreshing to find a trustworthy mechanic. If you're in Yorba this is the spot to go

I had been a loyal customer for several years having several of my cars repaired here. No longer! They overcharge for basic services, i. e, replace coil invoice charge over $800. I told them they were unreasonable so they lowered to $600. I stated that was still too much. This should have been $350-$400 for the replacement. There have been other times similar so I won't be going back to this place. They need to be looked at from a BBB. They lost a loyal customer! read more

Very pricey. Never called me back i had to call them. Never fixed my cars engine or my lights. I told them it wasn't the light bulb and they said it was and charged me 400 for a headlight change. claimed they fixed it and same night problem occurred again. never going back. read more

Well experienced and educated when it comes to diagnosis. Gets the issue fixed and allows customers to bring there own purchased parts which is a huge plus even tho they might charge more on bill for that. read more

Came here to get my alternator repair and they did an amazing job I will be coming here more often for my car since it's an oldie and I know it's in good hands with them. Great guys that work here read more

BEWARE !!! My engine blew in my Kia Optima and Kia dealership declined replacing under recall because it was the top of the engine that blew. Kia wanted to charge over 5 grand so i clearly shopped around. I was referred to Rays by the company i worked for. I went in and spoke with Ed and was clear i was not wanting to spend 5000 if i didn't have to. After they looked at the car Rays Auto said they could rebuild the top of the engine. Great ! I understand this is an older car with a lot of miles. I am also not a mechanic ! I did let them know this car will be given to my college daughter and it needs to run and get her around town. I received a call from Ed letting me know the car was repaired and offered me new tires brakes and rotors. I hesitated and decided to have them take care of it for me to save time. I spoke with Ed on Friday prior to picking up. I let him know that i just paid over a thousand to catch the registration up since it sat at Kia for a year ... and DMV is requiring a smog check. I met Robert on a saturday to pick the car. I was first shell shocked that i had to give them another 3100 after i already paid up front 2500. We chatted a bit - i paid the money not wanting too... and he proceed to tell me the car will still smoke a bit because it needs the o rings. He then said it shouldnt be a problem until it requires smog. I said what do you mean i called friday and told you i need to smog my car. At this point i was upset already paid and took my car. I parked the car since i have a new 2021 telluride that i paid cash for. This past weekend i went out to look at the car thats been parked and to get the paperwork for registration. The invoice from Rays was in the car. I hadnt read the invoice i was just upset feeling i got screwed and ripped off. Yesterday was rough! I read this invoice that was full of lies. It said i declined and engine because i couldnt afford it ! My bank account will clearly show i could afford the repairs and never said that !! Ray also charged me for spark plugs that Kia already just replaced when they diagnosed the car. I HAVE A RECEIPT ! So now i spent over 5000 dollars on a half ass repair, over priced cheap tires, rotor brakes ! And a car that will NOT pass smog !!!! I called today and spoke with Ed !! His reply is he will have Robert call me !! I should have done my research!! I trusted them simply because my old company uses them. It looks like i need to email the owner and my old company and share my experience !! I wonder how bad Ray is ripping them off also !! Why would you offer brakes rotors and tires for a car that is not running right ?? You are the mechanic !! Why would you not let me know these issue and give me the options to have the car repaired properly rather than tires !! No one ever said anything about O rings !!! I have a piece junk that CAN NOT be driven going on year number 2 !! A car that will not pass smog !!! Robert i will be waiting for your call and proper resolution!! read more

I've been taking my cars to Rays for over a decade and have never been dissatisfied with their service or professionalism. I highly recommend Rays for both routine maintenance as well as more complicated issues. read more

When you go to a mechanic, unless you really know your way around cars, there's always a question in your mind if they're being honest with you and telling you what really needs to be fixed versus recommendations based off of profit. At least that's how it was for me, until I found Ray's auto care. On more than one occasion, they have consistently proven they are straight shooters, honest, and provide reliable recommendations on repairs for a fair price. read more

Ed has fixed my car a few times now! He's great& so is everyone else there. Honest, good work

My husband took his 2004 Ranger to get new brakes because Pep Boys wanted almost $500. Ray's Auto Care took amazing care of my hubby's truck and were VERY flexible with payment and did it for almost $200 less. We are impressed; my hubs truck is running so much better! Everyone we spoke to were knowledgeable and friendly. I am so happy that we have found a mechanic that we can trust! read more

Ed was very helpful and diagnosed my problem quickly after Valvoline damaged my car during an oil change, will definitely use them in the future when I run into any issues. read more

I took my car into Ray's because I thought I needed new brakes, a price was quoted and I agreed. Ray's called later and said I actually didn't need new brakes. Since I had already agreed on an estimated repair price they easily could have taken advantage of me and done a needless repair. I had them do an oil change and my car was ready in a timely manner. They were a very pleasant business to work with. read more

Don't bother with this shop Used to be a great place to take old cars to but now they could care less read more

We've lived in yorba linda for over 30 years and rays been around that whole time. We always flake out astro can to them as well as our F150. They do a great job, not doing anything that does t need to be done. And what need to be done is done perfectly. read more

I'm months behind in this review, going back to about August. I had an emergency repair job done on a Nissan XTerra up in Oregon that entailed a new radiator. A few weeks later, back home in Yorba Linda, I was finding a major fluid leak and th vehicle would overheat. I got it over to Ray's since getting it to Stadium Nissan in Orange might not work without causing significant damage. There was a nick in the radiator that caused the leak. It took a while for them to find, a day, a goofy pressure issue to replicate the problem. They knew it was from a recent repair under warranty and got it so I could get it to Nissan. They didn't charge me for the time it took to find the problem or to get it serviceable enough to make it to Orange. They wanted me to get what I was owed under dealer warranty. That's integrity. I said screw taking it to Nissan. I had Ray's do the repair. They'd put in some time on the thing without getting anything out of me from it. They rated getting my coin and business for doing right by me. read more

Brought my van in to get the door fixed. They replaced my handle for $100 (which was perfectly usable) and then tried to charge me $200 for the actual part needed to fix it (latch assembly). $250 turned into $650 without anything actually being done to fix my problem (they also asked me to pick up the part in Garden Grove and drop it off). I brought my vehicle to them because they were recommended for a full overhaul but now I don't want anything to do with the place. I should have known better when Manager Ed shared a story from his past with me in the interest of sociability (I was wearing a Metallica shirt) - he told me about getting covered in syrup at a metal festival and doing PCP and banging his head against the wall till it was bloody... yeah I know - my fault, I shoulda left then. EDIT: I was called three times yesterday after paying my bill in full and was woken up the next morning by a threatening voice mail from Ed in attempts to backstep over his previous story. In addition to being ripped off I'm now being harassed for posting a review. He demanded I take this post down and called me a "motherf*cker" read more

Reliable, Honest and overall a great bunch of mechanics. It's nice to finally have a place I can take my work van, Truck and old Nova and know the repairs will be done right and suggestions made by them are actually truth and not a sales pitch or attempt to get a larger bill . Couldn't be happier with them, they will always be my go to for any service needs read more

This review is for the new owners, Hales Auto Care. I used to bring all of my cars to Ray. Apparently it's now under new ownership and the new owners want to gouge their customer base. Stay away. They charged my $130 for two hoses that could be bought at Autozone for $6. I get they have to mark up the costs to make some money and for delivery but this was ridiculous. I'm sure these weren't the only excessive charges on my bill. Just the first one that caught my eye after they repaired my vehicle. Too many other mechanics within walking distance to do this to people. read more

We've been going to the same mechanic for years (name withheld) and once the owner decided to retire, he handed off the estmates to two young guys. I have never been up sold as much as in the time tgese 2 boys were in charge. We've been looking for a new mechanic to care of our family's 7 cars and we found Roy's today. We brought in my 80 year old father's Ranger because we thought he had transmission trouble. Imagine our shock when he told us the bill was $43. I am certain the other mechanic would have claimed to find a litany of trouble. Businesses like this are few and far between -- I will definitely be referring business their way. read more

Unbelievably the best!!! 1st, Ed let me know that an impending repair may be covered by a factory recall and rather than fleashing me of my money I was able to get it fixed for free at the dealer. (Do folks like this really exist?) 2nd They just fixed a botched job from another repair shop and Ray helped me along the way by searching out some really competitive parts. (Do shop owners really take the extra time?) WOW.... I will never take my cars anywhere else. THANKS GUYS! read more

Called this place for a quote, and they were rather rude on the phone. So we decided to pay more and go do an alignment at Taylor Co for higher price instead. read more

If I could give this place more stars I would! I came to Rays as a s recommendation from my roommate, and let me tell you! One of the best things to be recommended to me ever! I had to have my car towed here after it died in the mountains and not only did Rays give me a speedy diagnosis, but they allowed me to keep my car there an extra day while I figured out what I wanted to do with it, and helped me find a buyer for it. In the end I have never been to a shop that was as friendly, honest, and actually cared about the customer experience as much as they did. They have earned themselves a lifelong customer. read more

Two thumbs up for Ray and his staff. Courteous, honest and knowledgeable. They embraced my car problems and took care of them in a timely, efficient manner without trying to upsell me...I will take all my vehicles to Rays from here on out! read more

I took my car in to find out they charge $92 to diagnose the problem. However, that $92 'may or may not go towards fixing the problem ' because it 'depends on what's wrong.' That sounds awfully convenient for them. I wonder if the diagnosis fee can EVER be applied towards fixing the car or if it always falls outside the guidelines??? They took my car for a test drive, which was free, came back with a diagnosis, that of course could not have the $92 applied towards fixing it if I chose to have them do so. When I told them the $92 seems like it does nothing and that I would go elsewhere, they let me go and didn't seem to mind losing the business. This is a terrible business practice and I can't believe people fall for it, including my dear father in law who recommended this place. Can't wait to tell him about this experience read more

I had a problem with my work van and I needed it fixed fast. Ed quickly pointed out a transmission problem and told me I should check my warranty with Ford. He could have easily just quoted me for the repairs and made some money off of me. It turns out the van is still under warranty for this type of problem and I probably would have spent a ton of money to fix it myself. They understand the value of earning a customer. It looks like these guys have got it figured out. A simple deed today earned them all of my future business and any referrals as well. Thanks read more

I was a resident of colton. So I have been taking my car here for a while, until I took it to another mechanic and learned they are just out to make more money off of me, I had another shop fix something I had took into rays, which he told me it would cost $700. They fixed it for $250. Now that ive found an honest mechanic will never give any business to rays, BEWARE, I hope they go out of business, for taking advantage of kind people. read more

Summary: Ray stuck around after hours just to help me out, repaired the car quickly, and charged a fair price. Nice, trustworthy guy. His employees were great to deal with on the phone. Longer version: My wife's car busted a CV boot, so I was scrambling to call a mechanic at 5:59 pm. He offered to wait until I got there, in spite of the fact that he was closing up shop. Super friendly, even gave me a ride home with my kids' two car seats in the back of his truck! Seriously, you don't find this kind of small town service very often. The repair was done quickly and for a very fair price (dare I say "inexpensive?"). I didn't wonder for a second if I could have had it done cheaper elsewhere, which I usually do. Haven't been back a second time, but I'm sure it's where I'll be going when the next thing goes wrong on one of our cars... read more

I can't sing enough praises for Rays Auto Care. I've gone there twice and both times Ed has helped me. The first time I went was for a battery problem and I was nervous because I had never gone to this mechanic before and haven't had any good experiences with a mechanic (and seriously, who has?). Rays is really close to home so it was the most convenient. I was prepared to pay top dollar but was pleasantly surprised when he solved my problem at a fair price. I won't hesitate to bring my cars here because I know they aren't trying to squeeze me for all my pennies. Trustworthy. That's all you need to know. read more

I bought a car from Ray and it had less than forty thousand miles. It was a good deal. Less than 2 years later and only about 20,000 miles it started to overheat. They wanted $1,300 - $1,600 to fix it. Way, to go and rip off a disabled women! I mean really? It is a fifty dollar part. The fee is all labor! Wow! I understand things happen, but as a mechanic you are held to a higher standard. One reason I purchased it from Ray. So, gee thanks for acting like decent human beings. read more

I took my 1964 El Camino to Ray's as all it's rear lights had gone out... Ray assured me he personally would fix the problem and he did at a very reasonable price... You'll find great service, honesty and attention to detail at Ray's... I highly recommend Ray's Auto Care! read more

A phone call to Ray's Auto saved me $1,000 on my dealer suggested repairs. Situation: took my car in to the dealer for an oil change. Dealer inspection revealed a leaking VVT pipe and a leaking CB boot. Dealer gave me a $800 estimate for the VVT pipe and $540 to replace the CB boot. So I called Ed (who I trust) over at Rays auto care to see if the dealer price was in line. Ed found that the VVT pipe was a recall item in 2012 (which the dealer should have replaced back then) and quoted $350 to replace this entire axle, not just the CB boot. Result: Dealer comped me the VVT replacement saving me $800 and I took my car to Rays auto for the CB Boot repair, saving me another $190! Highly recommend Rays Auto. read more
