I need to copy the statement from my original post, "Reading other reviews, I see the words 'hidden gem' over & over. This is a perfect description." We have come to crave Charlie Weaver's when we visit home from Maryland. I want to branch out on their menu, but the liver & onions w. corn pudding is too good to pass up, and my hubby cannot resist the massive Belly Buster piece of BBQ chicken & pulled pork. Our one meal, is honestly two meals (we end up with leftovers to droll over the next day everytime). Staff is great! They have rotating specials; this time my mom got chicken cordon blue w. a beer cheese & my dad the new orleans chicken. The chicken breats were so juicy & the toppings ample; the flavors stood out, it's such a quality meal. read more

Lovely place, friendly staff. good food and prices are great. definitely i recommend, I'm looking forward to going back. They don't server alcohol, but it looks like its one of those places where you can bring ur own bottle of wine. We just moved back to the area in January, and this place has been on my list for when things settled down from the move. With a huge storm coming tomorrow, I decided tonight was the perfect time to get out and boy am I HAPPY ABOUT THAT! We had an absolutely phenomenal meal, with the most amazing service, in the most welcoming, warm, ambiance filled place anyone could ask for! For starters I had the cream of zucchini soup and my husband had the mozzarella tomato salad, both delightful! With so many excellent choices, I finally settled on the prime rib, which they seem to be known for.... Medium rare perfection, It was the best I have ever had! ....and let me tell you about the corn bread pudding... OMG! It is out of this world delicious! My hubby opted for one of the day's specials... the crab au gratin.... It was excellent! We shared! The place is a BYOB, they gave us an opener and even offered chilled glasses!! They do not take reservations but we had no wait and went on a Friday. I can not wait to go back!! read more

We found this place on yelp while visiting. I ordered a prime rib with mashed potato and corn bread pudding. An order of briskets with coleslaw and mashed potato, and my daughter ordered an open face roast beef with two sides. The prime rib was the best prime rib I've ever had. The corn bread pudding was so good! But then it was disappointing that the brisket and roast beef was really dry. The prices were reasonable. I would come back for the prime rib. Our waitress was attentive and it was a nice, small, and quiet atmosphere. No alcohol here, but I did see a sign for BYOB. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal for our first time at Charlie Weavers tonight, 10/29/23. We ordered Bob's Cod, Chicken Parmesan, Tuna Steak, Three Cheese Chicken, and the kids meal of Chicken Fingers and Fries. All meals were marvelous!!! Ribs are tough and tasteless - served with a serrated knife that is absolutely required to saw the ribs apart. I don't know how these ribs are prepared but they certainly have never seen the inside of a smoker or the barrel grill outside the restaurant. Skip this place. read more

You see why the ratings are so high when you look at the menu and watch the food coming out. This is definitely off the beaten path. How many country restaurants have great seafood and bbq. Not your typical pa country restaurant. Plus delicious desserts. This is another White Haven area winner in our book. My wife had the mussels. I had the smoked brisket. When I was a young child I lived in white haven. I haven't lived there in 11 years but there used to be a restaurant where they served spaghetti with one giant meatball. If anyone knows may you please let me know if this place is it or if that place still exists? Thank you so much. read more

This is a charming little restaurant off the beaten path. The menu is limited, but don't let that stop you. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was this very sweet older lady who could not have been nicer or more attentive to us. The food was really good. We had the honey glazed chicken, fresh cut fries, coleslaw, and salad. The coleslaw and the salad were some of the freshest and best tasting we've ever had. The chicken was not freshly breaded, but it was still really good. The prices were decent for the amount and quality of food we received. I would definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try. read more

This is hands down the best pulled pork we have ever had! This place is so cute and the service is outstanding. The food was exceptional. Glazed carrots that melt in your mouth. The portions were generous and piping hot! The baked beans were made with green peppers and apricots - such an amazing combination. What a great little home restraint in Pennsylvania. They do close at 7:00 pm on Sundays and not 8pm like other sites say. Sock eye salmon with with corn bread pudding and southern baked beans. French onion soup was spot on. Great food and wonderful atmosphere. read more

Small restaurant with a HUGE menu. Selections are diverse and well described. Lots of choices! The mesquite chips are excellent as is the smoked mozzarella and tomato salad. The prime rib is primo. This is definitely a family favorite. The food is fantastic and the service is friendly and welcoming. It's a nice place for a couples dinner or family get together. It is tiny but that's the charm of this place. I tend to always go for the crabmeat Al gratin it is very cheesey and heavy but it's good. The BBQ is out of this world. The menu has a great variety to choose from so everyone has a pick of great food. I don't think I can say we ever got something bad here. Oh and try the corn bread pudding it's the best thing you will ever eat. The bar doesn't serve alcohol buts that's okay. The food is why you come here. read more

We've tried this restaurant twice and were very disappointed each time. In a resort area, if you're going to charge resort prices, the product and service should match. Charlie Weaver's Restaurant & Bar offers mediocre food and service at resort prices. Their wait staff is not very well trained and not very attentive. They ask how things are without stopping for you to reply. The owners should consider training their staff on customer service skills and working together as a team. Their kitchen staff does not how to grill steaks. On the first visit we ordered filet mignons medium rare and they came out medium at the rarest. The second visit was the night of their "Two Can Dine for $19.99" where we ordered the ranch steak medium rare. One of them came out very medium well and the other was well done. Their chicken parmesan special did not come with a second side like their other dishes did. The chicken breast was small and looked like a normal chicken breast serving cut in half. There was way too much cheese that was melted way beyond the chicken to nearly burnt from the grill. The linguine was not well drained and there was very little sauce. This would have been a much better dish if served on a plate rather than a bowl and a smaller portion of pasta to allow for some sort of vegetable. The salads are good; however, the staff tends to drench them in dressing. Ask for your salad dressing on the side. The fresh-cut french fries were very good when they were hot. When we had the fries on the second visit, they arrived to the table cold. At these prices you would be better off driving a little farther to Hazelton or Wilkes-Barre. read more

Went to Charlie Weaver's last night. Everything was excellent from the service to the warm rolls to my French onion soup. Very large menu selection it's a little off the beaten path but well worth the drive very cozy atmosphere. After hearing about this place we decided to try it and it was well worth the trip we plan on coming back with others!!!!!! read more

Gave this place a another shot because my father loves this place. Well he don't love it anymore. Food was decent but wasn't want it should have been for the price you pay. I ordered a steak medium raw and it was medium well and it didn't taste or look like the cut of meat it should have been. The cook said to the server that he been cutting meat for 40 years and he knows more then me about steak. Ok it might maybe but been one of my favorite things to eat. You know what cuts of meats look like and tastes like. I will never go back again. Only thing good is the corn bread pudding that's why I gave it 2 stars read more

Hm. I went here with a large party. This place seems like it is literally in the middle of nowhere; if you are going there at night be careful as you may drive right by it like we did. Does not look like much from the outside but the interior is very homey and has a, "Country," feel. The service was spot on considering we were a large party. Everyone was very polite and I was supposed at how the place packed out after an hour or so. However, the food was not terrible but very uneven. We had a few pastas at the table that looked and tasted good. The amount of pasta was plentiful and after sampling the Shrimp Scampi I found it quite tasty. Someone had the Prime Rib which was huge! Quite good as well with a tasty horseradish sauce. The other entrees were not so good. The brisket was very dry, my ribs were really, really bad. I would guess that they had been frozen and defrosted many times as the meat was practically gray. It came with a half chicken and french fries so I ate that instead. Appetizers were okay. You can't mess up mozzarella sticks, the nachos were interesting, they are made with waffle fries. The stuffed mushrooms had a very tasty stuffing but the mushrooms were not so great. Overall it was not a bad experience. One of the problems is that there menu is so vast. It is impossible to make everything that is on there with some degree of skill. Also, I would imagine that with such a vast menu, it must be hard to keep all the ingredients fresh to construct each dish. A smaller menu would probably be better. And ged rid of the BBQ. Not too bad but not sure I would go back. read more

If you want the best Prime Rib in NEPA Charley Weaver's is the place to go. Whenever we go there that's our order. Comes with two sides (real mashed potatoes!) and warm rolls. They do not have an alcohol license but do allow you to BYOB which that in itself saves you quite a bit of money and have a beverage that you enjoy. They have a dining room and a bar side. Either is very comfy. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

One simple word... Deliciousness! Very small and quaint place, I took the family there on a Wednesday evening, Not very crowded we Christmas terrific this was our first time there and she explained the menu to detail. This is a bring your own beer place we did not need alcohol to enjoy the food this evening. I don't know what they put in this stuff called corn bread put in but oh my god this is to die for! First time here. A friend gave us a gift certificate. Wow! What a surprise. Small out of the way place with an extensive menu. We had their Wednesday & Thursday Night Special for $24.99 which consisted of a 1/2 rack of ribs and 2 sides each. The ribs were cooked to perfection. My husband's sides were pickled beats and beans. I had pickled beats and cornbread pudding which was to die for. We shared an order of Buffalo Shrimp appetizer (6 shrimp) which was outstanding. My husband had Beef Barley Soup and Blueberry Creme Brûlée Cheesecake which he loved. It's BYOB so we brought a nice bottle of rose. To top it off, there's no corkage fee. We'll definitely be back.
