Medium rare prime rib (Best I've ever had!) with their homemade horseradish sauce, pickled beets and corn bread pudding!
    Lori M.

We just moved back to the area in January, and this place has been on my list for when things settled down from the move. With a huge storm coming tomorrow, I decided tonight was the perfect time to get out and boy am I HAPPY ABOUT THAT! We had an absolutely phenomenal meal, with the most amazing service, in the most welcoming, warm, ambiance filled place anyone could ask for! For starters I had the cream of zucchini soup and my husband had the mozzarella tomato salad, both delightful! With so many excellent choices, I finally settled on the prime rib, which they seem to be known for.... Medium rare perfection, It was the best I have ever had! ....and let me tell you about the corn bread pudding... OMG! It is out of this world delicious! My hubby opted for one of the day's specials... the crab au gratin.... It was excellent! We shared! The place is a BYOB, they gave us an opener and even offered chilled glasses!! They do not take reservations but we had no wait and went on a Friday. I can not wait to go back!!

I ordered a half rack of ribs, side of mac and cornbread. OMG. The ribs were tender, with an amazing dry rub and BBQ on the side. They were a nice size with a great smoke flavor. Speaking of smoke, next time I go, I'm getting the bucket of mac. Creamy, smokey, spoons full of comfort. Finally the cornbread. Probably one of the best cornbreads I've ever had; it is more in line with a pound cake. I could eat an entire loaf. Smooth and sweet. I got my order to go. Great customer service!

I was on 309 North and passed it (it was on the left hand side). So, I pull a u-ey (is that how one abbreviates U turn). I was excited because I saw the smoker outside with a ton of smoke coming out of the chimney. I go in, order a full rack of ribs (why not? There was that smoker outside pumping out smoke). I was SO disappointed by how hard the ribs were. They were not tender AT ALL. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I definitely have had WAY better ribs. I would not recommend this place. Update: owner responded with sincere intentions. I WILL give these guys a second try. I'll post the results afterwards.

There are a handful of utility spools that serve as counters -- so, be prepared to eat while standing or take your meals 'to go' and eat in your car or elsewhere. As others have suggested, there are limited dining options in the area near Pocono Raceway, so it's terrific to see new small businesses like the Country Road Chef try to establish themselves. While the service was friendly and welcoming and the food was made-to-order - I was disappointed with the food. At the chef's suggestion, I ordered the Slow Smoked Brisket sandwich, served on Texas Toast, with a side of french fries and the special homemade ketchup ($18). The bread was dry and the meat was overcooked and chewy; the french fries were cold and the homemade ketchup never made it into my bag. I'm sincerely hoping the Country Road Chef was having an off day and I'll give it another try next time I'm in the area.

Boasting rich and comforting flavors, this concoction was an amalgam of deliciously smoked meat and veggies swimming in a pool of a savory tomato and herb broth. The next favorite, and honestly the best I've ever had - the ribs. Fall-off-the-bone, moist, saucy and full, these delightful slices of heaven sung of flavor. Before I go on sounding like I ate a meal for a village, we were treated to a lovely sampling. The meatloaf, paired with the potato salad, would be the hit of any party. Finally, and I don't know how the chef did this, but the smoked tuna was so rich and different, it reminded me of eating a fresh and expensive crab cake. Note to all who are looking for some epic bbq: check the updates for availability. It's no shock, but this locale sells out of items quickly in its TH-S run. An experience I will never forget. Thanks to the owner/chef for a fantastic dining delight!

My son didn't order because he's not a big bbq eater so the owner brought out a sample of their signature New Brunswick stew. The boy doesn't eat soup either so I had to eat that too!! Lol - I'm not sorry! We got to listen to some R&B that was playing softly in the background. Soothing and not loud enough that you couldn't have a normal conversation. The dining area was clean and tidy. Loved it!

They don't have a truck, but have a small tented area where they display the menu, take orders and pay (credit cards accepted). Then next to it is a large wide smoker and a table where you hand over the receipt and collect your order. They offer pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken, roasted hog and sides (baked beans, mac & cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, etc). They use their own special dry rub, so this BBQ is not dripping wet. They do have several BBQ sauces to add to your food. The baked beans had a pleasant kick to them. I do think they should use a nice brioche roll instead of the average burger roll. I've had a lot of different BBQ from various states in the country and this was better than average. About an 8 out of 10. I was glad to see no fatty pieces in my pulled pork, but my husband found one in his brisket. That's just a matter of making sure prep is perfect. At South Mall, there are no chairs and tables to dine. So bring your own portable ones and dine near your car or take it home. The entire area is blocked and all the trucks/tents face the center of the large rectangular area. Worth checking out.

The restaurant was staged beautifully and decorated for a between-the-holidays meal, and even though it was packed there was only a low undertone of voices from the surrounding tables. Our waiter was fantastic and gave honest, informed suggestions that showed great menu knowledge. The cocktails were creative, well-balanced and refreshing; we tried the pomegranate cosmo, winter maple old fashioned, mistletoe mule, holiday margarita, and butterscotch espresso martini. The whipped ricotta and poached pear crostini really stood out and was an incredible way to begin the meal, but don't sleep on the bacon wrapped scallops. I could have eaten a bowl of that sweet corn puree and even though it's a party favorite, the smokey/sweet bacon/scallop combo was even more crisp/tender than most their kind. For entrees, we rattled off some Chilean sea bass (w/ citrus beurre Blanc), linguine and clams, and spicy chicken pappardelle, finishing with a few lunges at their Classic House Made, original 1989 recipe, Peanut Butter Pie. Normally my fiance and I split our entrees; unfortunately, I couldn't come up from the Sea Bass long enough to even offer her a bite. It was really a wonderful sauce, and a perfect amount to swirl around in the risotto. I was able to score the remainder of the clam linguine as leftovers, and even heated up in the microwave two days later it still qualified as a top three clam linguine dish I've ever had; buttery, lemony, garlicky goodness.
