Was in the mood for a sandwich on Saturday night and found that Charleys is offering both takeout and delivery! We opted for takeout as I needed a little escape from the house. Their takeout situation is fully socially distant and organized. They have a roped off area out front with chalk lines to encourage socially distancing in line. They only allow one customer inside at a time. We were able to order online (right through the Yelp app) and then pick up. I ordered one of their chicken phillys (Chicken California). Their sandwiches come in small, regular, and large. I opted for the regular, which was plenty. The sandwich was pretty ho-hum. I wouldn't likely order one of their chicken phillys again. My son got their original philly cheese steak. I had a bite of that and found that to be much more flavorful. We all ordered their cheese fries which were good! They're made with regular cut fries and covered in just the right amount of cheese sauce. They also have a vareity of lemonades. Definitely not what I expected because the first thing I noticed was the high nice looking tables and smaller ones along walls with nice chairs, bar like and definitely not fast food chain. Vases with flowers on the tables, flat screens and dim track lighting. I was promptly greeted by a nice woman who guided me through food/order process which is order at the first window, Sm/Med/Lg, do you want grilled peppers/mushrooms/onions, mayo/lettuce/tomato, yes to all please, do you want to make it a meal, move down to the grill and watch them cook the Steak and assemble it. I ordered the Philly with Steak and fully dressed which looked pretty good, melty cheesy hot off the grill steak cooked to order on a toasted bun with fresh veggies. Although its not an overly stuffed sandwich the Med was fine for me. The bread was fresh/soft/toasted which was perfect for all the hot/cold toppings. It was not bad and tasty with a steak taste and not one of those phillys where they use the roast beef from the beef sandwich and call it a Philly. Overall for a chain I can't rip them for anything because the service was good and they have a decent cooked to order fresh sandwich for a chain, the slightly upscale interior for a chain doesn't hurt either, Yah I'm a fan. read more

As a woman of the Midwest, this was my first time coming to "Charleys Philly Steaks" due to apprehension caused by me wondering about it's origin of "Philly" (I do not feel comfortable with big cities like this ). But it was in Wisconsin so I felt comfortable. I also wondered about how their steaks taste, but was surprised to see a steak sandwich menu instead. Horrible experience! Ordered via DoorDash. Store employee and driver tried to scam me out of money. They claimed my order was picked up an hour prior by a different driver, but I had only placed my order 45 minutes before my driver contacted me with this 'issue'. The driver told me that I could talk to the store employee to confirm this story If I wanted to. Then he suggested that I cancel my DoorDash order and place my order again direc with him and if I gave him gas money, that he's deliver it to me. I rarely write up bad reviews but this was such an awful experience. I had an online order and went inside to pick it up. There was a line of 5+ people and I really did not think I had to wait next in line for an order I made online, since it's supposed to be made by a certain time and I would just be picking up? The only "pick up" window they had was for uber eats and door dash, I tried waiting there to see if anyone would attend me and nobody even looked my way and I was there for at least ten minutes. Another customer came in (without a mask) and who I'm assuming was the manager, came right up to the window I was at (noticed her but not me?) and asked her to please wear a mask. She didn't have one and he then proceeded to hand her one literally RIGHT past me and walked away STILL not even acknowledging me. At this point, I'm fed up, I go to the end of the counter where the cooks are and let a guy know I have a pick up. He then tells me I have to go back to the register. I just want to cancel my order at this point, so I get to the back of the line defeated and the cook comes up to the girl at the register who finally somehow notices me and proceeds to give me my order. Stopped to do business at another store in the strip mall where this Charley's is located. Other store needed some time to finalize the order i placed. Ultimately I Decided to walk over to Charleys and order a sandwich. Mask in hand due to the Covid rules and prepared to abide by the rules. As i get closer i notice they have a couple tables moved outside on the front walk way and also some parking spots roped off... seemed odd since it was literally pouring down rain at the time... get to the door and i realize they are not letting anyone inside the building at all, not to place their orders nor is dine in even with masks handy an option. I certainly was not about to eat my sandwich outside on the sidewalk in a rainstorm because this location doesn't have adequate plans in place for spur of the moment customers stopping in. I get the covid thing but your restrictions are over the top ridiculous so i took my business elsewhere.
