Due to being understaffed some of the wedding party were late to getting pictures. Guests at the wedding even commented on how poor the hair quality looked. I'm 35 and have gotten my fair share of makeup done for other friends' weddings and never did my makeup stay on this well in my entire life!! I'm usually the girl touching up my make up and everyone else's - but not with Elina! She came on site and did airbrush for everyone. We did a trial for my rehearsal dinner and I'm really glad I booked her for that too. I was torn between the color of my blush and if I should do fake eyelashes or not. Come the day of the wedding, I knew exactly what I wanted without a doubt and I looked natural, like myself, just enhanced for my special day. Elina has an EXCELLENT personality and really listens. She gives feedback and has a wealth of knowledge! She's also priced right, which is huge in Charleston where people like to overcharge you just because it's your wedding. One day my co-worker came in with a nice cut and color, and slapped a card on my desk offering $20 off a cut/color service at the salon she went to (should have been my first warning sign). Mind you my co worker has thin blonde hair, and I have a thick, long, mop of dark brown hair. With the tease of $20 off and a salon that was geographically more pleasant to me, where I didn't have to worry about parking downtown and taking out a college student in the process, I fell for it. Mind you, prior to this I was Becky with the Good Hair. This was all thanks to Dia Johnson at Willow. So my lazy, cheap self went to this "other" salon, and I will save you the long story, but it was the worst decision I have ever made! The girl ruined my hair. My hair was long, just a bit past my boobs, and I walked out of there with a glorified mullet that was only a few inches below my shoulders. Don't even get me started on the color. I had only wanted a few highlights to blend in what had grown out in the last 7 months since I had last had my hair done by Dia (I would like to mention it STILL looked good 7 months later, Dia is obviously that talented). When I left, it was bad. Brassy, splotchy, and when they tried to "fix" it, it was over-toned and green! Not to mention they tried to convince me it looked ok! I told myself I was going to live with it, then at work one day, while staring at myself in the flattering glow of florescent lighting, I freaked out and immediately decided to, with my tail between my legs, go back to the last place I had good hair. Willow. I called, desperate for a same day appointment. The salon owner, Nicole, graciously fit me in as her last client of the day for a consultation, so we could make a plan and calm my nerves. (Y'all I'm ashamed what a mess I was! Emotionally that is.) She took a look at my hair, told me a plan, and then said if I didn't have to be anywhere, she would be happy to get started on it today because she knew how upset I was. Needless to say, I LOVE MY HAIR, Nicole has given me life! I know this review is already so long, and I feel like I have so many more wonderful things to say about Nicole (and Dia), and frankly the whole salon. I was eyeing every girl that walked out of there and they all left with fabulous hair. The girls are all so nice and easy to talk to. I've learned my lesson the hard way and I won't be going anywhere else. Honestly I saw that Sarah had Lucious curly hair in her profile and picked her immediately out of the line up. I did not do a good job of reading the full details upon arriving so I showed up on their first floor salon. I got checked in by a very lovely young hostess and she escorted me to the other location which was up the stairs and away from the main floor. I'm so glad she showed me because I would've been so lost! lol She offered me a glass of sparkling wine while I waited. Both salons were so cute and chic, the decor was exotic and exciting. I sipped on my Prosecco and was taken in shortly after. I got a wash and she conditioned my hair before cutting it. Then she took her gracious time to blow out all of my hair and even did some touch ups with her iron to put the finishing touches on it. My hair was feeling light, sleek and smooth!
