Halftime show, Mystics vs. Dream WNBA Teams
    Esther Z.

The old YELP reviews are still valid. The seats are uncomfortable, little knee room. It's like coach seats in an airplane. The lines to buy a snack unless you were a season ticket holder is still long too. We were here for the WNAB Mystics vs Sparks game. Luckily, we are season ticket holders and the Mystics set up an area, the Champions Clubs, for us to buy beer and snacks. However, we couldn't take the beer to our seat. You had to drink the beer in that club room. We're just glad this won't be the Mystics permanent new home arena. That is a temporary arrangement lasting through the playoffs this season. OBTW: The Mystics won.

This is a review on the Center as a music venue. My first Dylan concert, 11/13/10. I like the easy access to Foggy Bottom Metro, about two blocks. The Center is the home of the George Washington University Colonels basketball team. It seats about 5,000 for hoops and about the same for a concert. For the concert, the stage was set at one end of the arena and seats to the left and right and straight ahead. The acoustics were exceptional as were the sight lines. It didn't feel like you were in a huge arena, it had more of an initiate feeling. The stage was quite big covering nearly the entire far end of the court. Back lighting on a white sheet acted as projector screen and made for exceptional effects. I suspect there were 1,000 or so standing room in front of the stage. Clearly from there you have the unique advantage of closer sight lines and near contact with the band. Security was tight as you would expect, everything short of metal scanners and pat downs. Several times Event Staff made announcements that no cameras allowed and individuals using their iphones as cameras or recorders would be confiscated. That never happened in spite of multiple flashes during the show and cell phones lit up like blazing lighters.

    Washington Kastles new stadium!

I visited the Smith Center for the first time the other night for the Washington Kastles season opener in their new stadium. Pros-there's no bad view really, arena is small enough that everyone gets a decent vantage of the play. Clean bathrooms. Cons-seats are the smallest and tightest I've ever experienced, it's like they're made for children. Knees were at a 45 degree angle and hips were def smashed. Hopefully that's not a gimmick to make you purchase seats in the more expensive free standing folding chair section. The A/C was also on freeze your ass off mode. It was pretty miserable, the crowd was wrapped in the free T-shirts given out for the opener lol. I'd go back if I get my coins together to buy a bigger seat and I'd probably dress a lot more warmly.

There were trees inside, which were in full bloom, and I even found a cherry blossom chair! We secured tickets on Easter Sunday, which turned out to be a rainy day, so game time was delayed a couple of hours. Ohtani hit a home run! Final score: 8-6 Dodgers. There were A LOT of Dodgers fans! Uncomplicated stadium. Simple to navigate. Friendly staff. Nats fans were fun. Overall, it was an stress-free visit and I felt safe...even while wearing a LA hat! :-) Easy walk from the Metro Station. We just ordered the basics: hot dog, nachos, and draft beer. Prices were reasonable and the food tasted pretty fresh. I was surprised because we had to grab it from the heat rack. I saw Marine One from our 300's Section, but it was probably in training and/or a decoy. Just across the street is the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, which you can also see from one of the stadium gates. But, I decided to walk over to take a closer look!

Located along the Anacostia River in Navy Yard, it is one of the more functional and accessible MLB stadiums with ramps and elevators. Nationals Park is the first major professional stadiums in the country to earn LEED Silver Certified status by the U.S. Green Building Council, having incorporated sustainable design elements. The stadium is beautiful, however, doesn't have the historic charm that some of the other stadiums in the league have. There is obviously plenty seating and even better, open standing room to watch the game. You'll find customer-friendly stands serving traditional ballpark food, unattended and cashless grab and pay vendors, bars, and restaurants. Surrounding the ballpark is a plethora of sports bars, restaurants, and pre-game social venues. The team's merchandise store is adequate and staff, friendly. During the spring, you can find cherry trees in peak bloom in many of the standing room areas around the park, adding a beautiful backdrop and scenery to spring games. The park is highly accessible by many roads, connecting all quadrants of the city, Northern Virginia, and Prince George's County, MD. However, parking is limited and on game day and special events, the price to park taxes the wallet. I recommend using Metro which gets you close to the ballpark, including nearby Navy Yard - Ballpark Station which gets you the closest and within steps from the one of the entrances to the ballpark on Half Street. This Metro stop gets crowded because of its proximity to the ballpark. If you have time for a walk, consider exiting the station at New Jersey Avenue or to skip the madness entirely, consider riding to Southwest Waterfront Metro and walking over, crossing South Capitol Street.

The BD function are very poorly trained in customer resolution and the security staff are wholly unprofessional. According to the BD function, they are 'doing their job' and 'following guidelines' when they scream at patrons using disabled entrances. I attended the game and went into the club store from the roadside. I was let into a disabled entrance by a patron who could see me attempting to use the door. Very swiftly I was swarmed by security staff screaming at me to get out and that I couldn't be in there and I didn't have a ticket. I'd did have a ticket, they had no signage saying not to use the door. My colleague and I and the patron were scolded and humiliated in front of the entire store. Were I able to arrange suitable travel back, I'd have left immediately but left at half time. Branden in the business development function has handled this issue with a complete lack of any care or and totally wipes their hands of the problem. I've been told I cant have a refund because the security staff followed guidelines, but I can have free tickets which he knows are of no use to me. When admitting that signage is an issue, and I was treated poorly, I've been told I won't receive a refund under any circumstance but encouraged to pursue a refund with Ticketmaster who ultimately contact the club? What would the point of that be other than to waste someone's time. I've also been told that Ticketmaster have to process the refunds as though it's unusual to purchase tickets this way.. September 21st 2025…read more This place is so disorganized and disappointing. My father called ahead of time since him and I are both disabled (we both have handicap placards and my father has a permanent disabled license plate) He finally got ahold of someone and they said if we want handicap parking up close get the gold parking pass. I paid 200 dollars for parking. Yes, 200. Parking up close is VERY important to me.. Nobody was helpful in guiding us to the lot we paid 200 dollars for. Also, they told us when we got there there's no handicap places, we just have to go and sit on a blue bench and call a number for a golf cart to pick us up. I called the number 3 times and somebody did answer. They were nice but not helpful. We ended up having to give up and walk. No workers were helpful, and when we would try to flag down other workers on golf carts they would not stop for us. They did not even look at us The stadium is very outdated. It looks extremely industrial and not welcoming Very crowded Lines were long There definitely was not enough bathrooms or food areas to keep up with all the people it can hold However, I did enjoy the seats we had. I liked the view. And the field looks great. I will say, the bathrooms for the MOST part were clean for over 50 thousand people being there. I did see a toilet overflowing onto the ground though. But workers were taking care of it This stadium needs a huge update. Do not waste 200 on up close parking. It wasn't even that up close and nobody came and picked us up despite us calling and waiting for 43 minutes (the game had already started while we were waiting) Again, I do have to hand it to the woman on the phone who kept answering. It wasn't her fault and at least she answered. So, if you are disabled and can't walk far, plan accordingly Every stadium is different So always check their bag rules. I did have to use a small clear bag Sadly, this stadium is probably one of the worst I've been to P.S- if you google worst NFL stadiums, this one comes up lol. So I'm not the only one complaining

I really wish they had more concessions at this arena, so typically we have dinner before or after pending the game time. You can be on the opposite side of the lounge and be forced to walk up the stairs around the arena back down the stairs grab your snacks only to have to do that all over again to get back to your seats. Who thought this through? You'll definitely have to get there early due to that 2-lane, tight squeeze through the neighborhood. I'm sure the people who actually live there hate game-day as it makes it harder for them to get home. That's crazy. BUT, after the game, on my way home, I turned right (instead of left to follow everybody else and return the way I came) and found an easier route. It was actually a route I know as my friends live by the big chair and I could easily hop onto 295 to get home. But I digress. The Arena itself is pretty nice. It looks like the area is being renovated a bit. I'm not sure exactly where in DC it is, but there are several old buildings in the area that had to be in use at some point in time. It didn't take too long to get in and our seats were right up front. The atmosphere for Pride night was festive. I was easily able to grab some food & drink and head to my seat with no problem. It is a smaller venue, but it felt cozy. I had a good time. After the game you can go across the street to an area which holds a few eateries and there's one big indoor area with a bar. If you park in the garage, be prepared to wait about 20 minutes before there's any movement so you can get out. I was nervous I'd be sitting there LONGER, but once we started moving, we got out quickly. If you get there EARLY you can probably park on the street which will facilitate your exit.

DC United is tied with the LA Galaxy for the most Supporters' Shields won (4 each; most seasons with best regular season record). They've also won three US Open Cups (second-most in the league) and are the only MLS team to have won either the CONCACAF Champions League and the Copa Interamericana championship. So, when it comes to Major League Soccer, this is what you call a historically elite team. DC United was one of the original 10 teams to begin MLS play in the league's inaugural season in 1996. They had success right out the gate, winning the MLS Cup in 1996, 1997, and 1999. The team carried that success into the 2000s, but aside from their 2013 US Open Cup win (where they were underdogs), they haven't won anything of consequence since. A couple of the most well-known players and coaches from DC United include Bolivian forward Jaime Moreno and American midfielder and coach Ben Olsen. Moreno and Olsen were teammates on the 1999 and 2004 MLS Cup championship teams. Moreno has gone on to set club records in many statistical categories including most appearances (427) and goals scored (162). No other DC United player has come close. The season immediately after his last as a player (2009), Olsen took the reins as head coach in 2010 after the firing of Curt Onalfo. Olsen went on to coach DC United for an entire decade (2010-2020), by far the longest tenure of any club coach. For the first 22 seasons, DC United played in the old RFK Stadium (opened 1961) which was used for a variety of sporting events including Washington Redskins (NFL), Washington Nationals (MLB), and Military Bowl (NCAA Division I FBS) games. The team has played at Audi Field since its opening in 2018. Audi Field, which was built specifically for DC United, is located about 10-15 minutes (5-6 miles) away from the old stadium, down the Anacostia River. In its final years as home to DC United, RFK was configured to seat 20,000 for MLS games, same as Audi Field.

In July 2021, he signed a five-year deal with the Capitals that's worth an average of $9.5 million per year. The contract will see him through to the 2025-26 season. By the end of that season, he'll be 40 years old. Ovechkin is a living legend and for-sure hall-of-famer. He's currently the only active NHL player within striking distance of Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL regular-season goals scored record of 894. At the time of writing this review, Ovechkin has scored 772 goals and ranks third behind Gretzky and another legend, Gordie Howe (801), all time. Gretzky scored at a rate of .601 goals per game. Ovechkin's current career pace is higher at .611, so he has a realistic shot at surpassing The Great One. Needless to say, Ovechkin has set lots of records, both within the franchise and league-wide. He's also as decorated as they get. Now a 12-time All-Star, he holds the record for most Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophies (season-leading goal scorer) won with nine and counting. After dropping Game 1 on the road at T-Mobile Arena (Paradise, Nevada), Washington rebounded to win Games 2 through 5 and win their Finals matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights, 4-1. The Capitals closed out a tight one on the road in Game 5, winning 4-3: https://youtu.be/IzyKiQY5GoI. The Golden Knights were brand new that season (2017-18). The Capitals' head coach at the time was Barry Trotz. The Capitals have had two head coaches since Trotz: Todd Reirden (2018-2020) and current coach Peter Laviolette. Unlike Reirden, Laviolette brought over 15 years of NHL head coaching experience to Washington. Coincidentally, Laviolette's first NHL head coaching job is where Trotz is today, the New York Islanders. He led the Carolina Hurricanes to the 2006 Stanley Cup championship and led both the Philadelphia Flyers (2010) and the Nashville Predators (2017) to the Stanley Cup Finals.
