The Caps are an exciting team to watch. We've got a Stanley Cup to our name and that ain't bad. Captain Ovi has been loyal all these years and that's paid off big time. Ted Leonsis and management do a fine job of running a community-responsive NHL team. The Caps unite the city in a very important way and are super kid-friendly. The folks at Capital One Arena do a good job on home game days. I enjoy myself a lot during the game and the event is kept safe and clean. I'm a fan, so totally biased, but truly believe that we're blessed to have this team in DC. Way to Go, Caps! Love you.

**An open apology to the CAPS, their fans and Section 432** I wanted to cheer for you last night ...until I got drunk When I was in the fifth grade, I won tickets to the Caps game. All the other boys in my class offered me money to give them the tickets, but I wanted to go. I dragged my dad out to the game. I told my dad I wanted to play hockey and he said little girls don't play hockey. Angry little girls do... In time I moved away, and spent fifteen years following another team in another state, The San Jose Sharks. With two Pacifos from Rosa Mexicana under my belt, I excited headed back to my roots. Woo a caps game and last night the Caps played the Sharks. Dilemma. I was a quiet fan and respectful at the game. Until the third period, where I might have forgotten what coast I was on and stood up and cheered when 2 goals made it past the Capitals goalie. As my coworker put it, I was the only person standing and cheering in the entire arena. A sad little one person wave. This is perhaps the worst most awkward moment of my life, everyone was staring at me and not in a good way. Things were said. Lady with shiny pants told me to go back to Cali. I told her to go back home and finish bedazzling her pants. I wanted to disappear into my seat and started deciding which one of my friends should hold my earrings in case a fight broke out. Luckily, my section cleared out long before the game was over. Because I felt so awful, for after hockey drinks I wanted to go to a place that was not overpopulated by hockey fans and still open on a school night. Clydes was out of the question. So I thought Zaytinya was a safe bet. As we walk in guess who was there? All of Section 432, Row K, pointing at me. Peace was made at Zaytinya, and I hope peace can be made on yelp. I love watching Caps games and wish them all the best of luck. I really am a lover not a fighter. P.S. Keep on eye on number #90, move him from the checking line. He's the most talented new player you got.

Buzz. That's the word I would use for the Capitals hockey team and their fans. I've been to at least 5 different pro hockey stadiums over the past year. (NY (both), NJ, Philly, Atlanta, Florida, and last night Washington) I must say, the buzz surrounding a game here, is a joy for a hockey fan. Right from the warm ups to the fans in the stands, and the concession people, it was simply an overall good experience. They allow fans to go down and watch the warm ups from a close vantage point. I think most teams do this, but here the fans seem to really enjoy it, and most of the bottom level is full during warm ups, when the team comes out at 6:30pm before a 7pm start time. The stadium has easy access from the Chinatown Metro subway stop, and is very close to a number of different hotels. (Hotel Monaco is directly across the street) and is in the middle of a large area with a lot of restaurant options.

I was amazed to see a very full Verizon Center for the inaugural game! The whole experience was exciting. The fans were cheering non-stop, there was so much going on! Players flew over walls, balls were caught by excited fans, t-shirts were thrown to the crowd, and there was excellent entertainment between plays!! The Valor team absolutely abolished the Baltimore Bregade! It was obvious that there was a lot of talent on the field. I saw good sportsmanship as well. Players on both teams would help each other up after a fall. The players, and coach, also interacted a bit with the crowd. They were waving to people calling out to them, and they even got the crowd cheering. I'd say this is a great family activity. There were a lot of kids that were engaged and enjoying the game. If you have t seen arena football I encourage you to get to a Valor game adap! I'm so glad we have season tickets and can't wait to see the Valor dominate the field again!

Brand new franchise and they absolutely nailed it on opening night!…read more As an inaugural season ticket holder we had several special events prior to the first ever kickoff. The events included Coach Cokinos and went a long way towards welcoming the new fans. Coach answered numerous questions about payroll, strategy, rosters, and rules. We finally got to see Coach's plan in full effect on Friday night. Our seats are five rows from the field and right next to the Valor sideline. We are close enough to hear every word and all of the in-game coaching decisions. QB Meyer executed the offensive game plan beautifully and WR Washington was all over the field. It's going to be exciting watching these guys all season. The prices for beer and food is what you would expect at the Verizon Center (overpriced) but the tickets to the game are reasonably priced. This is definitely a family event with lots of excitement to be had by all. I even caught a ball and got to keep it! The product on the field is elite level and the excitement in the stands is through the roof. Absolutely make the time to check out the next Valor game!

The air was charged and filled with excitement. We all wondered which team would be the victor, who'd bring home the first win of the season?! The food in the club house for season ticket holders was good "game day food." There were soft drinks, hot dogs, other snacks and treats. Before we went to the stadium, we enjoyed music from a band at one event and from a DJ at another. There was also a BBQ event, to decide who had the best food. A perfect mother and son day of football. All in all, it was a great day at the park with the grid iron gladiators.

DC United has been one of the most successful clubs in MLS to date. In terms of total MLS Cups won,…read moreDC is currently second (4 championships), trailing only the LA Galaxy (5). DC United is tied with the LA Galaxy for the most Supporters' Shields won (4 each; most seasons with best regular season record). They've also won three US Open Cups (second-most in the league) and are the only MLS team to have won either the CONCACAF Champions League and the Copa Interamericana championship. So, when it comes to Major League Soccer, this is what you call a historically elite team. DC United was one of the original 10 teams to begin MLS play in the league's inaugural season in 1996. They had success right out the gate, winning the MLS Cup in 1996, 1997, and 1999. The team carried that success into the 2000s, but aside from their 2013 US Open Cup win (where they were underdogs), they haven't won anything of consequence since. A couple of the most well-known players and coaches from DC United include Bolivian forward Jaime Moreno and American midfielder and coach Ben Olsen. Moreno and Olsen were teammates on the 1999 and 2004 MLS Cup championship teams. Moreno has gone on to set club records in many statistical categories including most appearances (427) and goals scored (162). No other DC United player has come close. The season immediately after his last as a player (2009), Olsen took the reins as head coach in 2010 after the firing of Curt Onalfo. Olsen went on to coach DC United for an entire decade (2010-2020), by far the longest tenure of any club coach. For the first 22 seasons, DC United played in the old RFK Stadium (opened 1961) which was used for a variety of sporting events including Washington Redskins (NFL), Washington Nationals (MLB), and Military Bowl (NCAA Division I FBS) games. The team has played at Audi Field since its opening in 2018. Audi Field, which was built specifically for DC United, is located about 10-15 minutes (5-6 miles) away from the old stadium, down the Anacostia River. In its final years as home to DC United, RFK was configured to seat 20,000 for MLS games, same as Audi Field.

The DC Divas are DC's all-women, all-tackle professional football team. Yes, this really does make…read morethem the female version of the Redskins. The difference is that women's football is rarely recognized as a viable sport, and the support from the NFL and large corporate sponsors has been close to nil. In fact, the Divas used to belong to the "WNFL" division (Women's National Football League, obviously) until the NFL whined and cried, claiming that this name was a trademark infringement and that the women's league would draw attention and fans away from there. Are you SERIOUS? Why couldn't you help elevate women's athletics, NFL? Why you gotta be like that? I still love you, tho...I can't help myself. (Now the Divas are part of the IWFL, or Independent Women's Football League.) Anyway. The Divas are an incredibly hard-working, dedicated group of women who practice their asses off, play their asses off, and don't get paid a dime to do it. They do it because they. LOVE. football. Period. Their season is Spring/Summer, and their home games are at the great venue of the PG Sports and Learning Complex, directly in the shadow of FedEx Field. General admin tickets are a complete steal at $12, while military, police, fire, and EMS, as well as seniors and children, receive nice discounts. You can buy your tickets online or at the gate. For $20 you can also purchase VIP tickets which get you 50-yard-line seating in bleachers with backs on the seats, a program, and WAITER service! C'mon, that's cool. Concessions (burgers, fried fish, fries etc) are supplied by a lively and friendly family-run vendor, and beer, wine, and mixed drinks are sold at a separate concession stand. Rita's usually sets up shop, too, y'all! Other than the food and beverage vendors, all the games are completely staffed by volunteers, from the chain gang, to the merchandise vendors, to the ticket booth. They're mostly good friends and family of players, but some are just die-hard Divas fans. In fact, most of the coaches, team doctors, and trainers are all volunteer as well. Husband and I have been selling tickets at the gate for the past four seasons. Games are so much fun. I love seeing little kids come through the gate to their first game screaming, with their eyes bugging out of their heads, "Those are GIIIRRRRLS playing?!?!?" Yeah, they sure are, and they're GOOD. They put that other burgundy-and-gold DC football team (who shall remain nameless) to shame. Last year they went to the IWFL Superbowl in Austin, TX, and lost a heart-breaking game but played like champs anyway. They were world champs in 2006, tho! Please come out and support a wonderful team of women who are passionate about what they do. Bring your kids, your friends, make some noise, drink a beer, storm the field afterwards and meet some players. They love their fans. A lot.
