Orange you glad I'm not a cow

Named after what I say when a cute guy introduces himself as a truck driver... "Trucker? Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!" Then the fun begins. And it was fun, because I drove all the way from Buffalo to Pittsburgh to DC just to attend this food truck festival. I was all up for it, especially the Brazilian food truck (Mighty Dog & Acai) which did not let me down, except price wise. And one thing I noticed about Truckeroo is, the prices of all the food trucks is somewhat obscene. Trucks are supposed to be able to charge less because they don't have the same overheads. In Buffalo and DC, they must have forgotten this premise. The other thing I didn't like about it were the extremely long lines. I suppose that happens at a lot of food truck festivals, but we had a 45-minute wait for one of these trucks, and well over 20 mins at several others. And that was nearly at closing time. But overall it's a brilliant concept, had some great Laotian, amazing Ice Cream from Orange Cow, some great Brazilian, and excellent Arepas. And if you do something round the back of the Bullpen with a trucker and end up getting pregnant, then it won't be long before you give birth to a few "Trugrats."

I'm sure I'll reach the truck by 11pm.

A five star event it could have been 4 stars due to the port a potty issues but the food made up for any mishaps!!!! I love food trucks. I work downtown and along 7th st NW there's always delicious food trucks daily. So when this was taking place I cancelled all my Friday night plans. I strongly recommend taking metro. Green line get off at Navy Yard, by Nats stadium. Bring state ID, for drinks and best believe your going to need a drink once you enter, brace yourself, it's a like a mob. My friends got a po boy sandwich from Canjunator, I went straight to the Daquiri truck for water lol. Then first it was the Pitt truck but they announced only wings and fries and no that not what I wanted. I went to the DC pollo truck and that's where I fell into a food induced coma. I got an empanada, amazing!!! Chicken and rice amazing!!! Frozen custard truck amazing!!! Captain cookie: the best cookies ever!' I wanted surf side but the lines were longer than when Jordan's came out and then they sold out ): Don't wear high heels. Wear sneakers as the concrete has a lot of holes. They had a live band in the back. Good music and good vibes. Can't wait for the next one!

The actual grounds of Truckeroo definitely expanded, which is great. However, seating still is hard to find because the place gets sooo packed. Not enough benches for everybody. I went right after work, via metro (literally across from the Navy Yard/Ballpark station; super convenient). My tip is to go early; arriving at 5-6pm over 8 or 9 makes a HUGE difference. Soon as night fell, the people looked packed like sardines, and the lines grew from 10 mins to an hour wait... Luckily, not a lot of people were there 5:45pm. I was able to spot PhoWheels quickly, in which I've been waiting to try, and the line was super short and quick! I was a very happy camper when I got my pork belly and musubi tacos. YUM. (I had to stand at a ledge to eat, but it was ok!) One thing I dislike is that the trucks aren't allowed to sell drinks, and ya gotta purchase any beverage at the Bullpen. $3 for a bottle of soda or water, and $8 upwards for alcoholic beverages. A single margarita is enough to get you buzzed, though! OVERALL: Cool event, food prices weren't too high/some weren't different from what the trucks would usually charge on a normal day. That is a BIG plus to me! Fun atmosphere if you go with friends to eat and drink. Notable trucks I've tried: PhoWheels, Captain Cookie & the Milkman, DC Empanada.

FOOD TRUCK PARTY in DC April through October. Last one this year will be 10/31! LOCATION: Right next to the ballpark, on 1/2 and M Street SE, right next to the Navy Yard Metro station. If you are a tourist like us, don't forget that there is a 1/2 St NW and a 1/2 St NE, so make sure you know which way to walk if you are getting picked up. Sounds silly but we started walking the wrong way after the ballgame the night before to try to find 1/2 St. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE Open 11a-11p. We were on vacation in DC for only a few days in September and took the Metro here in between museums. The kids got to eat what they wanted (grilled cheese from Big Cheese, pizza from DC Slices, cupcakes from some other truck) and I got to eat what I wanted (Rito Loco, Woodshed BBQ). This was perfect for us because during lunchtime it wasn't that crowded and we found seats under the shade. DRINKS FROM THE BULLPEN Tip: BYOBeverage! The one thing I didn't like was that all the beverages had to be purchased from the Bullpen--the individual trucks don't sell drinks. So after we grabbed all our food and plopped ourselves down, I had to leave the kids by themselves (because I wasn't giving up our seats!) while I went back to get the drinks. Not a big deal but I would rather just buy the drinks at the nearest truck. RESTROOMS We found them at the end closest to the ballpark. Porta pottys with foot-pump your own water. Thanks to Art P. who checked in to Truckeroo in August while I happened to be planning my DC trip. www.truckeroodc.com has up to date details with the current lineup.

Truckeroo never fails to please! More than enough food options for even the most diverse and finicky group as well as drinks and live music. If only it were more frequent than once a month! One tip. Being a 12hr event, trucks sometimes run out of basic supplies like plasticware and napkins, so advise taking some with you just in case. And if you will be grabbing some food to go too, bringing your own bag is highly recommended. What are you waiting for? Mark your calendars and I will see you at the next one! :-D

When summertime hits that means Truckeroo has officially started. This is my 3rd year attending and every year has been a blast. This is a free event with live music, local food trucks, foodies in every corner, and perfect weather what else can you ask for? It's held a few times in the summer into fall. It's located at The Bullpen near the Nat's Park Stadium off of the Navy Yard metro station. I noticed there were less food trucks at this event than in years past. Truckeroo extended out to where the buildings are now built so there were more too choose from then but it seemed limited this time around. KBBQ Box has always been a favorite of mine and I ordered a bulgogi taco combo. I love tacos and bulgogi so it was a must get! They also had a Korean fried chicken combo on the menu which I was tempted to get but I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Round of applause for my 2nd food truck: Tapas Truck! The owner recommended the corn fritters and it was freaking amazing. The cilantro lime aioli sauce drizzled all over the fritters completed the delicious snack. The night would never be complete without a dessert. It's such a shame that I forgot the name of the truck but I ordered a chocolate covered banana with caramel sea salt. It was a little small for the price but you can never go wrong with the pairing of sweet and salty. If you need something fun to do this summer, I recommend experiencing Truckeroo at least once in your life!

My husband has become a food truck fanatic ever since we moved to DC. Instead of having the same trucks parked at the same location day after day like the ones in NYC, DC enforced a lottery system where only certain trucks are allowed at a location on specific day of the week. Even with rotating trucks, my husband had yet to taste and experience them all - Truckuroo was the perfect opportunity! With more than 20 food trucks to choose from, my husband and I had a hard time deciding which ones to invest our time and belly for. With this event only occurring once per month, we decided to go with trucks we knew didn't have an actual store and ones that had ever shown up near his work. We went with two of the most popular trucks and that was all the time we had for. Most trucks sold out or had wrapped up by the time we finished standing in line for the second truck. There weren't much spaces to stand and we never found seats to enjoy our food. We came on a cooler night on an early Fall month. I can't imagine it this packed on a hot, summer day. It was definitely an experience. But I think I would leave the food truck chasing to my husband during his lunch hours and take back my Friday date nights in the comfort of my own home.

Truckeroo is a monthly (June-October) free-to-get-in festival located across from Navy Yard Metro Station (200 M Street, SE; at M and Half Streets, SE) at Das Bullpen Biergarten. Now's your chance to stalk your favorite food truck, while checking out some new trucks to follow. In case you missed June's event, here are some of the food trucks that will be parked, fully stocked and raring to go: *Twitter handle is in parenthesis *BBQ Bus (bbqbusdc) *Big Cheese (bigcheesetruck) *CapMac (capmacdc) *Curbside Cupcakes (curbsidecupcake) *Dangerous Pies (dcpietruck) *DC Empanadas (DCEmpanadas) *DC Slices (dcslices) *Eat Wonky (eatwonky) *El Floridano (flmeetsdc) *Fojol Bros (fojolbros) *Pleasant Pops (pleasantpops) *PORC Purveyors of Rolling Cuisine (porcmobile) *Sabor'a Street (Saborastreet) *TaKorean (takorean) *Red Hook Lobster Pound (LobstertruckDC) *Sâuçá (wheresauca) *Sweetbites Mobile Café (sweetbitestruck) Besides food trucks, Truckeroo offers live music, entertainment and beer (courtesy of The Bullpen and Das Bullpen Biergarten) for all to see, sip and enjoy. Admission is free. Be there! **Some food trucks ONLY accept cash, while others will take debit/credit cards. Bring cash, just in case. Social Media Buffs: While you're there, be sure to check in via FourSquare and use #dcfoodtrucks and #Truckaroo to let your friends, fans and followers where you're at, what you're eating, who you're with and what you think about it all. Woo hoo for Truckeroo!

I think that Truckeroo is a great concept! It's often hard for one to try many food trucks at once, and Truckeroo makes that possible. Admittedly, this event was quite small; I have heard it was bigger in years past, though. The food was quite good, but didn't really fell that special. I tried the Farmer Joe crepe at Crepe Love, and it was flavorful and delicious, just pretty pricey at $9. I also tried the Thai Tea and vanilla ice cream from Westray's Ice cream. The flavors were pretty on point but the ice cream's texture was definitely not ideal--too grainy. My friends tried the: poutine- not good, chicken empanada from Peruvian Brothers- average, pork slider from Tapas Truck- "amazing", cookie sandwich from Captain Cookie- best thing ever, tacos-average. We also thought it was wayyy too loud with the band playing the entire time. You can barely hear yourself think, let alone what your friends are saying to you. Overall, it was a fun night, but I probably won't be back again.

Truckeroo was a blast! I decided to head over with a couple of my co workers. The live musical paired with all the people watching possibilities made for a combination I didn't want to miss. The live band was pretty good to bad I couldn't remember their name. They did a bunch of covers and that's never a bad thing. Now for the food I wasn't really that impressed. I only sampled two trucks "Pittsburgh Ricks" and "The Orange Cow". I decided to get the teriyaki wings which was a bold choice because I'm normally a plain old BBQ kind of guy. The flavor just wasn't doing it for me. It's partially my fault to because why in the world would you go to a food truck to get wings. I was looking for the most low carb option I could find. The orange cow was decent I got half a pint of cookies and cream ice cream against better judgement **cough Hannah cough** the ice cream was just ok I came to this event expecting to be wowed and I utterly wasn't. I heard chatter of "it was way better last year" or "man they have less trucks now" All I can go by is what I experienced. Would I go back... certainly there is too much potential for me to let them slide this easily. 3 stars from me just for the ambiance alone.

Truckeroo was popping especially for my first time during my bday weekend! Variety of food trucks in SE DC by Nationals stadium great weather right by Metro station! This even was one you couldn't miss!

Awesome gem in DC area. With live music into the night. Only on select Friday's. Check the website. The trucks had awesome food. Prices were ok. My favorite was the tapas truck.

First time here last night. Great atmosphere and good music. 2 bands are played. One during the day and one at night. I had the Korean bulogi taco and it came with a salad and chicken wing. Absolutely delicious. My friend had a pastrami sandwich from the Pittsburg ricks truck. It was huge enough for two people. Then we had dessert at the goodies truck. Rum cake with custard vanilla ice scream like a sandwich. Everything was great from drinks to desserts. I heard this year due to construction it's a little smaller, but they still had enough trucks for pretty much everything you crave for. I recommend getting there during the day cause starting from dinner to later the crowds start to roll in.

The DC Cherry Blossom Bus Tour with Tidal Basin Guided Walk…read more I've been a resident of the DMV for 15 years and welcome the opportunity to show the highlights of D.C. when members of my family come for a visit. My sister Mary lives in Delaware and had long wanted to experience the color and drama of the Cherry Blossom Festival. These visits can be frustrating - we never really know when the blossoms will be in full bloom, and how long they'll be pretty and photogenic. This year (2026) was no different. The DC Cherry Blossom Tour, hosted by USA Guided Tours, was our go-to provider for this outing. After I ordered our tickets for a mid-week 10 a.m. four-hour tour, I received a prompt acknowledgement from TripAdvisor that the reservations were ready. I made the reservation just a few days earlier, so it was great to see the email that acknowledged our tickets and told us where to go to join the tour. The logistics involved in getting to the correct bus were easy: my sister and I showed up at the Navy Memorial, across the street from the National Archives (which is on the Yellow line Metro). A tour representative was already there and did a great job of getting us into the proper queue for our tour (USA Tours had four different tours departing that morning). The tickets were scanned and we were on our way, right on time. Highlights of the tour included walking through the cherry trees with abundant blossoms, photographers everywhere, and really pretty expressions of an early summer day in the District. We could see across the tidal basin to the impressive carved statue of Martin Luther King, Jr., which we headed to after spending the first walking excursion in the tidal basin and then the FDR Memorial. Our guide did an outstanding job of providing backstories and context to the places we visited, including the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Vietnam War Memoria. We had ample opportunities to stretch our legs, take free bottles of water, and use restroom facilities (as the bus did not have one on board). Both driver and guide handled their responsibilities very well, and we all had an excellent opportunity to see the blossoms. And, just as our guide had predicted, a severe thunderstorm rolled through the tidal basin later that day and wiped out 100 percent of the blossoms we enjoyed earlier that day. Luck of the draw!

When I realized I'd be passing through Washington, D.C. on my way home from Ocean City during peak…read morebloom, it was a no-brainer--I was stopping to see the cherry blossoms. The National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo to Washington, D.C., and has grown into a massive, four-week spring celebration that draws more than a million visitors each year. Translation: beautiful? Yes. Peaceful? Absolutely not. Knowing that, I went in with a plan--and more importantly, managed expectations. I was not attempting a full D.C. experience. No monuments tour, no long strolls. The goal was simple: find parking, see some blossoms, take it in, and retreat before my patience expired. My GPS dropped me right into what I can only describe as ground zero for organized chaos--people everywhere, strollers everywhere, dogs everywhere, construction sprinkled in for good measure. I took a few deep breaths, smiled in the sunshine, and found a parking spot that may or may not have been intended for fishing access. Honestly, unclear. I parked anyway and accepted my fate. Worth it because once I stepped into the bloom areas, it really was as beautiful as everyone says! The trees were stunning--soft, delicate, almost glowing in the sunlight. The blossoms looked so fragile it felt like they might disappear if you touched them. And despite the crowds, there was something really special about the energy. People were fully in it--taking photos, FaceTiming friends, dressed up for full-on photo shoots, just soaking in the moment. It was chaotic, yes--but also kind of magical. I wandered for a bit, took my photos, had my "okay, I've seen it with my own eyes" moment...then promptly made my exit while I still had my sanity intact. One practical tip: if you're visiting with a group, pick a "meet back here" spot before you wander off. With the sheer number of people and distractions, it would be incredibly easy to get separated while you're all off admiring different views. Choose a landmark or meeting point while you're still together--you'll thank yourself later if anyone gets turned around. If you don't do crowds--like, really don't do crowds--this is probably not your scene. But if you can tolerate a little chaos for something truly beautiful? This absolutely deserves a spot on your once-in-a-lifetime list. And for the record...no parking ticket. A birthday miracle!

Snally seems to have come a long way. I believe 13 years strong now! It sounds like post-pandemic…read morethey had some struggles returning to form, but I can affirm that the 2025 event was top notch and well attended by visitors and brewers. There were over 450 beers to choose from, with breweries from all over the world participating, and options came in every possible variety. I tried some new ones I have never heard of, from breweries I have never seen offered, and that is what a beer fest is all about. Despite tons of people and tons of offerings, there was plenty of space, a good amount of porta-potties, good food choices (my fave was Soko and their terrific double smash burger), easily accessible giant water jugs, and areas to sit or stand. Three stages, too with live music, DJs, and live podcast tapings throughout the day. Your ticket got you a complimentary tasting glass and as many free 4 oz pours you could handle. Food was extra but prices were reasonable. Regular tickets, which they call Kraken passes, were $85 this year (including fees and taxes), while VIP passes were double. Quite pricey for what you get, but for a once a year opportunity to explore some new beers with the Capitol Dome as a backdrop? I can dig it. For those curious, VIP gets you early entry, a dedicated tent/seating space, and your own porta-potties. I don't think that justifies the added price - I think they should lower the price slightly and offer some free merch, but many beers did run out before the end of the day, so if are a true beer fanatic, it's worth looking into. My favorite new discovery was Forager Brewing's imperial porter, the pudding goggles. Fun to say and even more fun to drink.

Crowds were massive so it was difficult getting to try different beers. They did hand out a few full sized at the beginning. Overall, I would consider coming again but it isn't my favorite beer festival I've been to, it fell a bit short.

Well, this year, we put it on our calendars well in advance, and made a point to head down for the Parade of Lights. So, first of all - if you haven't heard of it before, the Parade of Lights is on the Potomac...as in, it's a parade of *boats*. The parade starts off in Old Town Alexandria (down by the Torpedo Factory), and ends up on the DC Wharf on Water Street, where all the boats dock, and there is a big awesome after party. We opted to watch from Alexandria, as we weren't really in the mood to deal with drunken revelers (I know, so unusual for me!), and I think we were ultimately glad we did. Although the docks were crowded (seriously, get there early and stake a spot!), the view was perfect. The boats were all decked out in lights, each boat with a different theme (although there should be a drinking game...whenever a boat's theme is "Christmas", you do a shot. You'll be drunk 15 minutes into this thing). So the good: The event started right on time. The kick off was supposed to be at 5:30, and the first boat pulled into view at 5:35. Awesome. Some of the boats are decked out incredibly creatively It's not your usual parade There was a professional radio DJ (I didn't catch which one...Tommy something?) that provided the commentary and filled up the time when the boats lagged behind The not so good: The DJ that was providing the commentary ran out of material about 1/3 of the way through and he started to read off tweets...which I pretty much loathe (even though I'm a huge fan of twitter) Some of the boats really lagged, so there were periods where you would just stand there in the cold waiting for another boat to pull into view It is COLD. It's the beginning of December, on the water, at night. OMG. SO. COLD. All that being said, it's a quirky, off the wall little event, and I love the creativity that the captains put into their boats. The 2022 H Street Festival executed on every street festival/block party need: Good food, good…read moremusic & entertainment, good vendors, a little dancing with a whole lot of celebration.. and Mother Nature brought the good weather! Not only was there diversity within the items listed above but it brought out a diverse crowd--I'm sure every identity was present at the festival making for good vibes. Food wise, there was a range of vendors that included food from across the Black diaspora (Jamaican, Haitian, Southern soul food), American cuisine, Bar food from H Street bars & restaurants, sushi & other Asian cuisine , among other fun food trucks. The music I experienced spread across multiple genres (African, r&b, reggae, hip hop, country, and pop) and was put forth by live musicians, DJs, and drag queens. Street formers were also off stage entertaining us with their percussion and brass instruments.

H Street Festival is the largest neighborhood festival in Washington, D.C. It started out 12+ years…read moreas a block party. Now it spans 11 blocks and attracts 150,000 people in one day, always a Saturday in September. It usually starts at noon and goes into the evening. Since it's a massive festival almost every business along the H Street corridor is involved (except for Whole Foods and Starbucks). In addition, almost every food vendor and truck sets up shop at the festival. They have all kinds of food and there are many vendors selling arts and crafts (usually around 4th Street). There are also several staging areas, booths giving out water, and even a few stalls from churches. It's always a great time and you'll get a taste for all types of culture in the city. It's AWESOME!
