I have asked the post office on 75th and exchange numerous times, to please tell the postal person to place my items. This is probably the WORST post office in the city of Chicago! I mean they close when they want, open when they want and the workers are the definition of rude. Since moving to South Shore this is a major disappointment for the already disappointing community. Shanaynay and Ronkeyia will not be a service to you nor do they care. The postal delivery services are also lazy beyond extreme! They will not walk up stairs to deliver any packages, the only thing they exercise is posting a false note saying you aren't available. I haven't received mail in over 2 weeks. Post office told my neighbor it's because they lost the key to our building. This has to be the 10th key to our building they've lost in the past 4 years because every few months they seem to stop delivering mail for weeks at a time and blame "lost keys." Seems like that's their go-to excuse for no mail service, judging by these comments, though. Something's up. Nobody loses keys that frequently. read more

1. Have a problem with ANY post office? Let your voice be heard. Call the Chicago District Office at 312-983-8403. 2. This place could be better. I'm here several times a week and there have been many times I have come to empty windows. I will wait anywhere from five to ten minutes before someone comes up to help. That being said, I feel like a lot of people who work for the post office don't mail anything out or use their online services. I have been battling to get my money back from two packages that were not delivered on time. One woman said I didn't drop them off at the post office. I have a receipt. I was told to go to the original post office I dropped them off. All post offices are the same. I was told that if I got the refund, what stops me from going to another post office and asking for the same refund? WHO HAS TIME FOR THIS??? With all of this back and forth, you would think it's their money they're refunding. It's crazy. I called the 800 number and the District Office. Both didn't understand why I wasn't getting my refund. For the most part, I'm in and out and if a package is lost, I just file a claim. But if you deal with Express anything, it will require nerves of steel and persistence to get what you paid for. I also want to shout out all the delivery folks to ring my bell to get in because our door key opener doesn't work. But, when my regular postman, Gregory isn't around, they either hold my items or say that items can't be delivered. It's crazy. read more

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST POST OFFICE IN THE CITY OF CHICAGO!!! Our regular mail gets delivered like clockwork, but if a package isn't with the regular mail carrier and gets delivered later in the day, that carrier seems to just not deliver things. They will mark it delivered after the time it was supposed to be delivered and not deliver it until 1-2 days later. I recently had a package that they kept having a "delay" delivering. First it was weather, then it was a dog, and the last time I had to call them at 9 am and tell them to hold my package. When they did and I finally arrived to get it, no one knew where it was and I had to come back an hour later after waiting for nearly 30 minutes to hope someone knew where it was or the supervisor I spoke with that morning knew where my package was had come back from her "smoke break". The workers don't want to work but the ladies at the window are always sweet to me. Especially the older ladies. They're the best thing about this location. I got conflicting messages about my missing mail, when i came to ask if mail was at this location, the rep at the window was very rude, she did not want to listen to what i had to say, it seemed like she was trying to get rid of me. I'm very disappointed with this post office. No one answers the phone and for someone like me that works during the business hours of this location, it's easier to call. I shouldn't have to take off work but that maybe the only option. I run a business and haven't been available to fulfill orders because inventory is being held at this facility. For what reason I'm not sure! Packages were out for delivery on the 19th but now it's saying my packages maybe lost?? Over $1000 worth of product lost?! Luckily, I have insurance and I was able to get a refund from the vendor but the issue is.. it shouldn't be an issue with receiving mail or packages. The fact that government agencies with higher authority have allowed the dysfunction of this institution is disheartening to people in my community who rely on these time sensitive service. The two workers that USPS has are rude and do not have basic knowledge or training to handle the issues mentioned by customers. I am extremely frustrated with how business is conducted at this institution. In fact, I have not received my mail in the last month even after following the process put forth online for holding mail. I have reached out to the office of the 7th ward alderman, Consumer Affairs of USPS, the manager of this station, and am now in the process of filing a review for this business with the Better Business Bureau. This post office are in dire need of professional staffing. These group of lazy workers are using the covic virus as an excuse to not perform their job. There has never been a time that ive come to this post office that i havent had an issue. The customer service is dreadfully bad!! They treat you as some needy poor vs a paying customer. Keep the manager and wipe out the staff, there are plenty Polite people with good customer service who are seeking postal employment. The fat lady who worked 4.18.16 at closing was even disrespectful to her supervisor because he insisted that she sell me an envelope at 5:30pm. They stop taking customers BEFORE closing. Its usually a LONG wait to be serviced. Dont bother calling, they either wont answer or place you on hold until you decide to hang up. They have out right delivered my packages to wrong address and won't change the delivery status to miss-delivered or delivered to the wrong address because they don't want to be held responsible. As a result I can't get a refund from the company nor file a claim because the package wasn't "insured." It's their negligence that they scanned my package at the wrong address and deliver it to wrong address anyway. Why do the things that I spend my hard earn money on get to benefit other people in the neighborhood. They are literally giving my money away to random people in the neighborhood. Even though packages have my right address on it. This has happen to me at least 5 times. 3 out of 5 times it was returned to me by my neighbors ( Thank You). One time my mail carrier had to beg for my package back from whomever she miss delivered it too. And currently they told me they delivered my package to the wrong address in a big multi unit building down the street from me and there is no chance will get it back. I don't know what to do at this point. They need to be reported to the inspector general. I have lived in west town, Logan square, lake view, and Garfield park. They have lost multiple important mails like my marriage certificate. Refuses to give us our stimulus check for 1-month, good thing we have informed delivery. They are claiming that there is no name in the mailbox so they can't leave the check well in fact we have our names posted in the box. It's unfortunate you must give them at least one star, I feel uncomfortable assigning them that much honor. That's how bad it is. It would be laughable if this weren't a federal institution providing such an essential service...and I use the term 'service' with the same hesitancy that I feel giving up the single star. The number one issue has to be THEFT. However, since I have no actual proof, I have to defer to the repeated scenario of checks and packages that are consistenly missing, severely delayed, or half torn open. Surly, lazy dispositions are a full blown, out of control disease here. The most frequent responses heard: "I'm closed" followed by "not at this window" "you can try tomorrow" "I can't do that" "I dont know why they didn't just..." and other obvious blow-offs. They've run out Certified Package notification slips, so they use slips given to them from other stations. The problem: the slips still have the address of their home post office printed on them. And, since that former address isn't at least scratched off, it's a wild goose chase. Which I guess really doesn't matter, because they've stolen the package anyway. Do yourself a favor and get a P.O. Box at a better functioning post office and forward your mail there. read more

If I could give them a -5, I would. I moved to South Shore from the west suburbs in December. I went from receiving mail and packages like clockwork to rarely receiving my mail and packages for weeks! I knew that there would be some issues moving back to the city but I didn't know it would be a complete downgrade. I am waiting on time sensitive mail that made it from Bensenville to downtown, and to the this post office in 24 hours. It has been sitting at Charles Hayes Post Office for 4 days for no reason at all. It went from a firm delivery date to a waiting to be scanned status for no reason. I hate this neighborhood, mainly because I hate the post office. I resent having my packages mailed to my sisters home in the suburbs to ensure a timely arrival. The workers are trash and the station is understaffed. I tried to move to my community but the community post office doesn't support its customers. They are getting paid to be rude and not work. They even turned out the lights once, and waited out the clock with a line full of customers because one customer upset a worker. People need their packages and their meds. This is serious and demoralizing to those of us who depend on their service. I will do my year in this nightmare neighborhood; back to the suburbs I go. One night!!!! i noticed a mail carrier on the block at about 8:00 at night I ran outside to talk to her to see if she came to my building where I live. so I can get my mail she told me that she was delivering only packages she said 73rd place doesn't even have a mail carrier for the route.I know it's been difficult for everyone due to this coronavirus but that is unacceptable!!! very unprofessional!!! no mail in a week. I know this Post Office usually gets bad reviews but I didn't experience any of that today! I feel like time obviously plays a huge role but I went in around 3pm and left no later than 3:20pm. Disclaimer, I did not have anything to pick up (I know a lot of reviews are about theft, lying, etc.) I went to mail out two packages. There were maybe about 5-7 people in front of me whom the clerk worked through fairly quickly. There were also 2 other clerks who actually came out to assist and help people. I'm unsure of the clerks name who served me, but she was kind and helped me with everything I needed- By the way this was my first visit and I will definitely be returning. read more

The apathetic attitudes of the station managers/supervisors, the incompetent mail delivery personnel and last but not least the horrible customer service and obviously no working air conditioner in the summer months. Have not received mail since 1/27/21 but the people that live around the 67th and 71st and Jeffery area seems to have mail carriers delivering mail. But the residents in the 7300 to the 7500 block pass Jeffery hasn't received mail in weeks. How do they determine who gets mail and who doesn't?? We have filed grievance after grievance and nothing's changed. At least make it acceptable to just pick up the mail without giving such a hard time! read more

And have no absolute knowledge of what they are doing. Had my package dropped off at another post office and delivered to wrong address. Went into location and lady told me it was being dropped off that day. She was wrong, item still has still not been located. Had to call another post office 15 mins away just to speak to someone who knew what they were doing. Now my important $200 car parts are god knows where now and I have to buy more $200 parts bc I have not received my items. This post office sucks everybody that work there are liars. I haven't received any mail since December 19 2020 and was told my carrier broke something leg arm I don't remember. They manager lied to our face and told us we would receive Mail on fri no mail was delivered nor did we get any on Sat. I went up there Sat Jan 9 and was told a supervisor wouldn't be in until 1:30 and they post office closed at 2:00. This is ridiculous and something needs to be done. This is the worst post office i have ever been to. hands down. They steal, tracking number or not. and when you bring up the missing packages they become combative. There is no recourse either.
