Took my wife and grandaughter out for dinner, I ordered a 14oz Rib-eye steak, The steak was tough and full of gristle makng it hard to chew the flavor was blah! 38.00 for the worst ribeye I have ever eaten. My grandaughter ordered a 8oz sirloin steak medium well, she could barely chew it and didn't eat it once again very bland togh as leather 25.00. Wife ordered the Taco salad which was good 15.00. 3 sodas at 3.50 a piece and the recomended 13.00 tip and an added charge of 3.31because i used a debit card? 109.00 for the worst meal I've had in years. We were here. a few years ago and the food wasn't too good but our friends wanted to go there and ask us to come along, big mistake, food has even gotten worse. My wife had the shrimp dinner and I the fish and chips. the so called shrimp were mostly breading and no taste except for the grease they were made in. My fish had even more breading and way to greasy too, out of the 3 pieces I ate 1 and throw out the rest, the waffle fries were undercooked and must have been made in old oil. One of our friends took potato pancakes instead of the fries and got charged $4 more for two small tasteless cakes which they never said was extra. Wasn't attentive at all and was a bit unaware shall we say. Food sat under a heat lamp waiting to be brought to us, hamburger ordered medium was brought well, lettuce on wrap was wilted. I enjoyed a meal here with my son and daughter in law other night. This was my first time at this Charcoal Grill. We ordered some appetizers which both were good. My daughter in law had fajitas and my son had a burger. I forgot which one he had. I ordered the charcoal burger with sweet potato fries. It was good. We all enjoyed our food. Drinks were good. Waitress was attentive. The atmosphere was good. I did find the prices alittle high for what you receive though. read more

Have heard good things about this location and can say it didn't live up to expectations. Relatively comfortable atmosphere and plenty of tv's if your there to watch the game while sitting at the bar. My kids ordered burgers. They were a good size solid burger. I tried a bite and thought the flavor was rather bland. My daughter ordered waffle fries with hers but received onion strings. The waitress did offer to bring the fries, my daughter declined. I had the Thursday barbecue buffet. Again I found the flavor in the meats to be mass produced blandness. Service was rather slow for us and even more so for a table sitting near us where we saw one of them actually get up to complain. We could hear the host apologize saying they were busy. (It wasn't that busy). I have also heard good things about the Sunday brunch. For my dining dollars, I'm a little leary about giving it a second chance. read more

If you want a really good sunday brunch go to charcoal grill. Service is excellent. Food is excellent. They have an omelet station by the bar to get your omelet. Pizza is also by the bar. Go in the next room for eggs bacon sausage potatoes waffles French toast and my favorite breaded cod. I am allergic to malt so no beer batter fish for me. I love Boston Cream Pie and they had the best Boston Cream Pie I Ever had on the pastry table which was big. It was reasonably priced at $15. read more

The food is ... Okay. It's not amazing. For $25 I could of gotten better at other places. The waffle fries were bland, but crunchy. I would expect some kind of seasoning salt, but they were just lightly salted. Which I suppose is okay. I got the French dip (no onion or mushrooms). The bread was very boring. The au jus was actually very tasty, though. The roast beef was pretty bland, too. The dip made up for that. My wife got the Brooklyn, medium. They over cooked it to well done. Which is pretty much what everyone does at places like this, so it's not unexpected. She though the taste of it was "okay", explaining that the burger was drenched in dressing. Suggestion maybe it would be better put on the side. Anyways, the establishment was very clean, and the staff was friendly. I probably won't be returning on my own volition, but if someone wanted to do lunch here, I'd probably be okay with that. 2.5 stars for the food 2 stars on price 4 stars for cleanliness 4 stars for the staff Overall, 3 stars. read more

Today, October 29th, 88 retirees from St. Joseph's Hospital of West Bend held a reunion at the Charcoal Grill in West Bend, Wi. The Charcoal Grill provided us with great food, helpful servers, and an atmosphere that was very conducive to sharing stories, excellent accommodations and a space to visit with everyone. Not great. We went to Charcoal Grill for the Sunday brunch, and I was really disappointed. The staff was great. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was super nice and helpful and made a great momosa. The food itself was very iffy. The waffles were great, egg benedict was cold and clammy (and they had just brought out a new batch), pancakes weren't good, Chef's choice potatoes were good, eggs were probably the best buffet eggs I've ever had. It was a pretty typical buffet. Just be prepared to not like half the things you try...good thing there is a large variety. read more

Today was Father's Day and my son took me out to eat. We had originally gone to Heather Ford's braising pan on Main Street in West Bend, Wisconsin. But I mistakenly told my son the Wait was too long. Looking back in hindsight, that is the biggest mistake that I made on Father's Day. We went through the restaurants we could think of in our mind and ended up choosing one that we had a mediocre experience at previously. We decided the charcoal grill on Highway 33 in West Bend, Wisconsin Should be given another chance. We entered the restaurant waiting about 10-15 minutes for a table. We were given a seat on the other side of the bar near the window in a booth as per our request. The waitress was young but very pleasant. That was the first and last nice thing I could say about this restaurant. We were not offered menus of any sort or any specials. Nothing was said, other than there was a brunch and to go into the other room to join it. Upon getting into the long cattle line to look at the food, we began opening and closing metal containers over the food. I passed over most of the breakfast because it really didn't look good. That's the very first thing I pay attention to when choosing what I'm going to eat anywhere. If it doesn't look good, I really don't think I want to eat it. Next, if the food looks presentable or edible, I will try a small sampling to make sure it's okay and maybe return later for another helping if it's worth the trip. As we went down the line the food became meat sauce over a biscuit, some rotisserie chicken that look dried out. Then there was fish that appeared to be dried out and some ribs that were yes dried out. That should have been a red flag in my book. I did try a little of each, though it did appear to be dry. It didn't occur to me until I got to the table that this food had been sitting out for a while and who knows how many people had looked at it or touched it? Apparently, the restaurant had not touched it! My son went back to our table. I was convinced that it was going to take me a while to sort through what I had already picked. We got back to the table to find our Bloody Marys ready to drink. They weren't terrible, but I have had better. I guess at $8 a pop I thought maybe they'd be a bit better! We both were discussing the meats being so dry. They must have been out for quite a while. By this time, it was 11:30 am going on 12 p.m. In hindsight, getting to a brunch earlier makes so much more sense. But we put our plans together sort of last minute and that's how we ended up at the charcoal grill for yet another disappointing experience. The food was mediocre at best and totally overpriced for what we got. I never saw anyone checking the food for temperature while it was out on the line. By the time we got back to the table the food was starting to get cold. Both my son and I felt sick and ended up stopping eating because it didn't taste good. Then, if that wouldn't have been the worst part of the experience, the check came! In my experience, I thought a brunch-type food offering might cost 16 to $25 each? I would hope that they would offer some higher-end Meats like a steak or beef of any type. Maybe some prime rib, if the meal cost per plate would have been $30? But when we found out they charged us $35 a plate for crappy food, lukewarm at best, I really felt sick! The food with Drinks came to $91 for two people! For $91 we could have eaten just about anywhere in Washington County. For $91 we could have had a meal at the Wallace Lake Inn on Wallace Lake Road in Trenton, Wisconsin. Or we could have stopped at Jokers Bar and Grill. Their meal of the day for two people and a hell of a lot of drinks could be served for $91 In hindsight, it is my recommendation to anyone looking to have a great meal at a fair price, always go to Heather Ford braising Pan restaurant on Main Street in West Bend, Wisconsin. I have lived here in this town for over 28 years and have never had a bad experience at that restaurant. Heather Ford goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of, her prices are market fair, and she does offer high-quality food while at the good portion size. I would never consider, nor will I ever tell anyone to ever stop at the Charcoal Grill off Highway 33 on Washington Ave in West Bend, Wisconsin for the rest of my life! I would never do that to any other family. If you could see the disappointment on my son's face. Then when that check came, for that poor excuse of a meal. Neither of us could believe for one moment that anyone would charge $35 a plate for such low-quality food. Please, think before you drink, and don't eat at the charcoal grill. The Sunday brunch it's not worth $35 a plate for Lukewarm terrible food! Do Yourself and your family a huge favor and take a pass on eating at this restaurant. read more

Apparently this restaurant used to be a Charcoal Grill that closed, then was another restaurant for a short while, and is now a Charcoal Grill again. I'm glad to see that when the Charcoal Grill moved back in, they completely remodeled the place as the last restaurant was lacking any kind of ambiance. As mentioned by the previous reviewer, the restaurant has a nice outdoor/wildlife theme that is very appropriate for the customers in the area (and especially since the restaurant is just north of Cabella's in Richfield). I've been to the Charcoal Grill twice since they've reopened and have been very pleased both times. There was no wait to get a seat as I don't think people in the area know it exists yet... but once they do, I predict it's going to be busy. The wait staff was very friendly from the time I was greeted at the door until I was waved good-bye. The gourmet burgers seem to be one of the restaurants specialties. I got tired of burgers many years ago and won't normally order one unless it's got a lot of toppings and promises to be messy. There were several burgers on the menu that looked appealing to me and of the several I either ordered or sampled from friends I was with, the burgers are very good. There is also a "topping bar" (looks like a mini salad bar) for adding even more toppings on your burger than what it already comes with. I also tried their vegetable pizza on my last visit. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. I'll admit that I'm a bit of a "pizza snob", so if a pizza doesn't look or taste any different than something I could get just about anywhere else, it doesn't impress me. (Uno's is my reference standard for good pizza, btw.) Pizza aside, one probably shouldn't be going to a restaurant named "Charcoal Grill" for pizza anyway. My overall experiences were very good and the Charcoal Grill is definitely on my short-list of restaurants to eat at in the West Bend area. read more

Food was average at best but service was poor! We had a new waitress who didn't have any training or support from the team. She was overwhelmed so I felt bad for her but she didn't come check on us during our meal and I had to ask hostess for our check 10 minutes after we were done eating. This a recent review I have posted on Yelp. My wife and I came to enjoy a nice Friday date night meal together at 7:15pm. I wish to let you know that the happy hour specials which run out at 6pm need to be extended as the price jumped from 4.50 to 6.75 for the same weak long island ice tea. Too costly, too low in alcohol content. I have had a recent long island ice tea at UNO Chicago grill for 4.00 and it was nice and strong for my wife and I to share and in a nice tall glass not a silly plastic cup your restaurant served our drink in. With my wife's panko fish (sitting in a puddle of oil) came only 4 deep fried side choices, sad and unhealthy, waffle fries, kettle chips, onion strings, sweet potatoes fries and onion rings. Our onion strings were sitting in a puddle of oil and were not warm. Uno offers a salad, and loaded mashed or baked potatoes or steamed veggies, not fried or dripping with grease. They also include a house salad with crisp veggies. We ordered a small side salad to come before the fish. The salad was nothing more than a handful of burger bar fixings and cost an additional 3.49! Sad. The bartenders were unfriendly and blunt. Where is the cheery disposition that started at the entry door? The oil you use is awful and gave me an upset stomach for several hours afterward. I won't recommend your restaurant until changes are made. On a side note my Rhinelander burger was delicious, you got that right. We live in Hartford and can travel either way for a nice meal out. I think we are going to head south instead for Menomonee Falls Uno's restaurant. On a side note our waitress was sweet but her timing was way off. Our food was late and then she checked on us after we were done and then made us wait 10 more minutes for the check! We had to wait 25 minutes for a table but there were many empty tables. Oh, I don't know why I came back. The bartender ignored us. Then we were seated (without drinks. I'm not lying, totally ignored us. When I flagged her down she was rude, so we didn't bother with drinks.) Service was slow although our server was much more pleasant than the bartender. Food was ok for some of our party. The grilled cheese was super sad with only one piece of processed cheese. My husband was sick after eating a hamburger. The Wisconsin harvest salad is worth going back for, but we won't. read more

I'm glad to see the place opened up again. That said, they need to fire the cook that was working tonight. All of our meat was WAY overcooked, and our waffle fries were like rubber. They weren't busy either. On the other hand, our waitress was very sweet and great at her job. The menu is terrific and the prices are fair. The manager happily took care of us. I will be going back to give them another shot. But if the food is consistently prepared that haphazardly, the store will fail again, which makes me sad. read more

We came on a Tuesday night at 5:00pm. We made reservations and they asked if we wanted a booth or a table and I said table. However, I did not specify near the burger bar so they put us in the bar area on HIGH stools. I am only five feet tall and my mother is over 80 years old...not a good idea. We asked the waitress, Andrea? if we could move to the dining room by the burger bar but it was full with two big parties. Oh well, we managed and our waitress even offered to get things from the burger bar for us! All was good! It was my nephews 18th birthday and they treated him well and sang to him, too! :) The food was yummy and the service was great! This place has really good food but their service is questionable. We had a waitress who ignored us on one occasion, bringing our water and coffee only after we had already finished our breakfast! While they have a very good Sunday buffet, they keep you waiting for a table even though only half their seats are filled. This gets frustrating when you have to wait 30 minutes for no good reason. I was meeting up with family for Easter. I dislike buffets in general, so I called ahead and asked about ordering off the menu during Easter brunch. I was told that I could, as long as it was after 11:00. The woman on the phone even checked with another employee. Our reservation was for 1:00, so that sounded great. However, when I arrived, they would not let me order off the menu. Obviously, I was not happy. I was looking forward to having a Wisconsin Harvest Salad. I Didn't hear anyone in our group mention that the food was good. Also, while this isn't a huge deal, the waitress did try to charge me for the buffet. She did take care of it right away when that mistake was pointed out to her. Not planning on revisiting ever again. read more
