UPDATE (April 2017): We used Chapingo Tree Care two more times since my original review. They did a great job again both times, showing up with a professional, careful crew who left our yard cleaner than when they arrived. I was especially impressed when Jose evaluated an ash tree that was in trouble and offered his candid opinion that trying to treat it was hopeless and that we should save our money. This guys were amazing! They came quickly after a major storm to remove a tree on my house. Same day service with a very very fair price. Very competitive quote and quality work, with good clean-up. Appointments were booked 4 weeks in advance but I asked to be put on the waiting list and they called me two weeks in and asked if I would accept the crew that day. The big trees I got trimmed look great and now I have a lot more light going into my house. read more

I couldn't say enough good things about Chapingo. A neighbor on the NextDoor app recommended Chapingo. Their quote was about 50% less than the tree service I had used previously, and they did a better job on the work. The arborist/owner (Jose Alvarez) is very responsive, and moved me up to an earlier time due to a conflict with other work my neighbor had scheduled. This company is great. read more

I cannot speak highly enough for Chapingo. Jose was wonderful to deal with: so responsive (email and phone) and professional and accommodating. They showed up right on time and got the first tree down within 20 minutes. Very professional team. They cleaned up everything and even got out a leaf blower to make sure they got every last bit. I contacted Chapingo for an estimate to have one of my trees pruned. They were very professional and sent an Arborist to my home to examine the tree and prepare a written estimate. The price was very reasonable, so I scheduled a time for them to come out and prune the tree. The men that came out to prune the tree worked fast and did a very good job of cleaning up when they were finished. I would definitely use this company again. Especially since two other tree service companies wanted to charge me an exorbitant amount of money. read more

Chapingo Tree Care is the best. They exceeded my expectations from the beginning. I emailed an inquiry on a Sunday. On Monday morning, I received a response which included the date Jose could come by to look at the trees and provide an estimate. We confirmed the date and time via email quickly. Jose arrived as scheduled for the estimate. He provided a written itemized copy of the estimate. When I had questions about the estimate, I called their office. My call was answered professionally and Ana Maria said she would discuss with Jose and call me back. Within an hour, she called back, just as she said she would. Jose followed up with another call. I confirmed the prices and scheduled the date for Chapingo to complete the work. The day before the appointment, Chapingo called to confirm. Chapingo arrived at the date and time scheduled to begin the job. The foreman had a copy of the written estimate Jose provided to me and my husband so I was very comfortable that the crew knew the type of work to be performed. Within the first 45 minutes, this crew removed a dead pine tree that leaned towards my neighbors yard. One man climbed the tree and began cutting sections that he threw down to other team members. The teamwork was great between the man in the tree and the others on the ground. I don't think this Chapingo crew even let one pine needle get in my neighbor's yard. Just about the time the pine tree was down, the stump grinder arrived with Jose, who also used this as an opportunity to ensure the work was being done to our satisfaction. While one person was grinding stumps, others began trimming the black walnut trees. Just as that was almost complete, another person began trimming and shaping the Leland Cyprus trees. The stump grinder left and the crane arrived to remove the pine logs that were too large for the chipper. They cleaned up all debris as they went, including sweeping the pine needles that fell in the street. There was no time wasted. Within three hours, they completed the job. Chapingo takes safety very seriously. All crew members wore hard hats and steel toe boots. The man that climbed the tree had a safety harness. When using ladders, one man held the ladder steady for the person on the ladder. They are licensed, bonded, and insured. This company is fantastic. The next time I need any tree work done, this is the first company I will call. read more

This is a delayed review from November 2016: Salvador arrived on the dot to examine the job--pruning large overhanding limbs and much scattered dead wood on a very old large oak--and give an estimate, just two days after my call. He advised in detail on each aspect of the job, specifying how much could be cut back without damaging the tree. His estimate was by far the lowest of the three solicited, less than half (!) the most expensive, and for explicitly the same work. The crew arrived on time less than two weeks later with two climbers and did an excellent job from start to finish. My directions, as informed by Salvadore and passed on by him to the crew, were carried out accurately and completely. In particular, I specified that large limbs be grounded gently so no compression would occur on my or my neighbor's lawns. At several points, the crew chief checked in with me to be sure they had it right. Clean-up was prompt and complete. It is a pleasure dealing with these highly professional, completely responsive, and very friendly folks. read more
