You can wear these with a snazzy business or leisure suit, or island shirt and shorts, clubbing or shopping it looks great either way. I was fortunate enough to wander into this lovely little store full of nothing but... Panama hats! Plus some feathers, a few handbags and accessories, but mostly hats, hats, and more hats. Plus a couple lovely and personable assistants, Amy and Ray, both knowledgeable and helpful suggesting which ones looked good on me, and the subtle differences between one style and another. Who knew there were so many different styles of Panama hat? The store is arranged horizontally kind of like a fancy bar is vertically. Nothing is inexpensive here, the hundreds of hats on display start at about $200 near the entrance and reach $600 to $900 by the back of the store. They're all handmade in the same way, but the more expensive ones have a tighter and more even weave, more intricate weave patterns and designs, maybe a more refined shape. Plus there's a small glass case with the Louis Tres and Hennessy Paradis of hats, like the alcohol those hats are $1,000 and up. Unlike those big luxury brands these are the real deal, all handmade in Ecuador (where Panama hats are made) by a network of artisan craftspeople, seemingly related to a small company named Truffaux that has similar shops in Australia. You're in luxury territory the moment you step in but they don't cater to the ultra high end collector and antique hats that can go for many thousands of dollars. So it's hats for millionaires not billionaires, or just people who want a hat they can treasure. I splurged for a Montecristo hat, one of the nicest, and it makes me feel like a million to wear it and read up on all about the history, lore, and origin of these hats.

Monday, 12/01/25 2:53pm…read more I had the worst experience with an employee at Lids third floor Ala Moana Shopping Center. First, no greeting when I walked in and the music she was playing on the boombox was very loud. As I looked at the 49rs hats I asked her kindly which was the newest model and she points at one that I know is an old style and said "this one." Then she continues to work on the sewing machine. As I made my decision I told her politely I was ready to be rung up. No response and she continued threading the sewing machine. She finally comes over to the register with an attitude so I asked her what did I do wrong to make her treat me the way she did as a customer: She lashed out at me and said I'm the one with the attitude and said she doesn't want to sell me the two hats I had decided to buy. She then told me to get out of the store. I asked to speak to the store manager and she rudely said she was the store manager. With her attitude I didn't believe she was the manager so I went to the back store room door and knocked hoping a store manager or another employee would come out. Unfortunately she was the only one in the store at the time. After much thought I assumed she was having a bad day or I caught her at the worst possible time of the day for her. I walked up to her and apologized and asked if we could start all over and asked her to wring up my merchandise. She refused twice but finally after much thought she did. She was trying very hard not to get upset and I finally got a little smile from her at the end of the transaction. I later went to the Lids Locker Room where I always receive excellent customer service from the entire staff. I told them about my experience upstairs and they were very apologetic. They told me the woman who I was talking about was the assistant manager and not the store manager. They even asked what can they do to make things right. Now this is what you call customer service! I also shop at Lids mall level. The manager there has been there for many years and is always friendly and helpful. Had I shopped at Lids mall level or Lids Locker Room from the beginning I wouldn't have experienced this bad service.

I'm sure whatever the team they have it here for you to express your spirit from head to toes as I was surprised that it wasn't just Lids you can find here but all sorts of shirts and accessories as well. First thing I walked in to see a display table filled with various hot items and of course it was all about the Dodgers of various item but I liked the fun and cute shirt of Ohtani with his name in kanji is cool but as I browsed around I noticed as tiny collegiate section and the Oregon Ducks will always be a special place in my heart though wished they had more selections. There was a friendly staff Nick who was so nice as I enjoyed browsing around was very nice and knowledgeable making it nice to shop for various items. They're located in Ala Moana Center street level Makai (ocean side) near GNC. Thank you!

I did not know kawaii kawaii meant cute cute! LOL! they did have all kinds of jewelry, in fact the store now has mostly fashion jewelry, I marveled at their huge collection of earrings, they were all handmade by Hawaiians so buying these support jobs for the locals. I was very impressed with the workmanship, shiny colorful crystals although they were not Swarovski or zirconia but they really were brilliant and so beautiful, I still can't believe they were only $15 each, I bought 4 of them. I wore it to the happy hour at the Voyager 47 club in the Outrigger, later I found out I lost 1 pineapple earring, I went back to buy another one, it was the purple pineapple dangling earrings. I met who I thought was the owner, she gave me all kinds of compliments, I don't know why in Waikiki I get so many compliments daily, everybody wanted to know how to get a good complexion, I told them the truth, I NEVER TOOK SUPPLEMENTS, VITAMINS or all the nonsensical products especially collagen I saw in stores many can literally hurt you as they came from dead animals eeeuuwww!, it's eating a lot of oranges, antioxidant fruits grown by my husband. I digress but I told the owner I will give her a 5 stars yelp review and mention her on all my social medias. I get compliments daily on all my fake jewels! come to Kawaii kawaii and you'll get compliments too! lol! Finally I certify to the fact they were all hypoallergenic to me, I bought expensive ruby, diamond and emerald from Bangkok, they lied to me and said there was no tin but they all did causing my ears to get swollen, I gave them to my daughters. This store carry all stainless steel non allergenic. You will love this store and did I forget to mention w the exorbitant rental they must pay to be on the most desirable strip on earth, their price is amazingly reasonable and they have excellent customer service.

Don't be afraid to shop as you get 3 hours free parking with validation and this place is worth it. The designs speak to a local heart and patterns easily identifiable to those who appreciate Hawaiian Culture. I specifically went to purchase a t-shirt that has an image of a waa kaulua with images of multiple hoku. The fabric is soft and the shirt well made as is everything in this shop. We were able to spend time talking with the owner David about the pandemic and as an Infection Preventionist I was more than impressed with how much homework he has done and the steps he has taken to make sure his customers are safe as well as comfortable in his shop. We also discussed his support of local halau and others who practice Hawaiian Culture. He is a true delight! It is small local businesses like this one that deserve our attention and support. Their products are not only superior but these owners are critical to the success of our communities.
