Stopped in mid-day for a quick bite to eat and a drink and was very happy with everything. Service was attentive and friendly. Greeted with chips & two different salsas. My margarita was huge!! Ate the taqueria fish tacos (grilled, good portion and healthy), a cheese quesadilla and a bean tostada. Everything was fresh and delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great location in old town near the waterfront.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    6. Super Burrito and 7. Cali Burrito (wet)

The food is good. Very authentic. Service was good too, maybe because we were the only table there at the moment. Burritos are huge and can split between 2 people. They give you a basket of chips and 2 kinds of salsas when you sit down. The downside was, since it was our first time, we didn't know how much extra cost it was for certain things. A side of sour cream was almost $5 and although an alright amount, definitely not worth $5. The waiter didn't give us a heads up on the extra charge. My husband wanted a wet burrito but we weren't told that was extra as well.

Had a few really good meals here in the last few weeks. Service is always quick and the food always great! I'm a fan of the enchiladas and quesadillas, my lil nephew is a big fan of the rice and beans, my brother really liked the fish tacos! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a really comfy vibe and I always enjoy it~[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Hibiscus Margarita is da bomb!!!

Chapala has always been a solid stop in Old Town for good drinks and great eats. Plenty of room with a second level of seating upstairs so it can handle those busy weekend dinner crowds. The margaritas are delicious you've been warned. The food is delicious as well. It's family run and has some items on the menu that not everyone in town has. I had the pork ribs and hibiscus margarita with Don Julio. She had the chillaquilles with scrambled eggs and a jalapeño margarita.. Everything was delish! It was busy and the waiter was all by himself, but he handled impeccably with spot on polite service that cannot be denied. We will be back. We'll done chapala!

Delicious Homemade Mexican Food--The Perfect Post-Hike Meal!…read more We came here for dinner after a long day of hiking in the redwoods and were so glad we did, as the food was incredibly tasty and satisfying. Oaxaca Grill is a wonderful, family-run restaurant in downtown Eureka, operated by the parents, Carmen and Tony, and their daughter, Yuri. Carmen is the main chef, and you can truly taste the care she puts into making amazing homemade Mexican food. The ambiance is casual and cozy. We were traveling as two families and easily found tables on a Tuesday evening for an early dinner. The main dishes completely hit the spot: * Garlicky Soft Prawn Tacos: My wife ordered these, which were served with sautéed onions, fresh garlic, and the most amazing, flavorful mango salsa on the side. * Spicy Oaxaca Chicken Mole: I got this special dish, which featured a tender chicken breast topped with authentic, spicy Oaxacan mole. This mole is savory, rich, and incredibly flavorful, made from thirty imported Oaxacan ingredients. It came served with yummy rice and beans. * Prawn Soft Tacos: We also ordered these, and they were fantastic, paired with a crisp jicama coleslaw. * Kids' Dishes: Our children ordered from the children's plate options. My son got the chicken enchiladas, which came with fries and beans, and he absolutely loved it. My daughter had the cheese and bean burrito, which she really enjoyed as well. * Desserts: To wrap up the meal, we tried the coconut flan and the crème brûlée. Both were a sweet end to the night, and the crème brûlée in particular was absolutely amazing. Overall, it was a fantastic, comforting dining experience with wonderful hospitality. If you are in downtown Eureka, this family-run spot is highly recommended!

I'm still all about the chile relleno burrito so the last time we went I ordered one with carne asada and it was literally the burrito of my dreams. This time when we went inside I noticed a hand written sign above the cash register that said "The Raliberto" which was basically my chile relleno burrito plus carne asada, so I ordered it. I cut it in half, took a picture this time and noticed it wasn't the same, it had cheddar cheese instead of that delicious white cheese the relleno comes with, and I don't think the poblano was battered and fried, it was just a plain pepper that was stuffed with cheese- it was still very tasty just not the burrito of my dreams. I'm thinking since it was a special, they may have run out of the regular rellenos or perhaps they were cutting costs but next time I'll just stick with the regular chile relleno burrito. We also picked up an order of their other special, carne asada rolled tacos, which definitely don't need the added carne asada because guacamole is all them tasty suckers need but we snarfed it all down. I don't know when we'll be driving through again but this is a really solid spot that I'll always think of fondly.

I just throw in some beans and rice and lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. I mean, who puts lettuce in a quesadilla? To top it off, there was no silverware or napkins in my to go order. The taste is OK.

They also have Guatemalan items for sale over at the register. I decided to go for the garnachas, which is a Guatemalan street food, similar to a sope. These were like little mini sopes. . The corn masa cake base was delicious, and it was not over fried. The ground beef was seasoned very well, the veggies gave it a nice pop of freshness. The cheese was great, and I especially loved the sauce. The sauce just brought it all together. There was a little pile of jalapeño, onion, and carrot in the middle. I didn't touch the jalapeño. I tried the carrot and the onion, but they were too spicy for me. Not a big deal. It was a nice lite lunch, and with soda, tax and tip, the price was very reasonable. I definitely want to come back and try more items off of this menu. Thank you.

If only this restaurant was in LA, we'd be there all the time supporting this gem of a location because finding Guatemalan food is somewhat rare!! GYY, what a treat to find in Humboldt, the in dining experience would have also been superb as the location offers plenty of comfortable seating to choose from. We however were on a road trip and enjoyed all of the food including a passion fruit água fresca from the car!
