I first met Rob more than 15 years ago when I hired him to organize my entertainment system, which at the time included a TV, stereo, and other audio-visual equipment. The technology has completely changed over the years, but the system he designed still works beautifully. From the start, Rob came up with a thoughtful plan and completed the project quickly and efficiently. Over the years I have hired Rob and his partner Lisa for many other projects. They created an office space with a built-in desk, and again all these years later, still works perfectly. They organized my garage (a huge undertaking that they handled beautifully), and helped rethink my kids' rooms as they transitioned from little-kid spaces into rooms that worked for older kids. Most recently, they redesigned our basement after it flooded, and once again did an outstanding job. Rob has an extraordinary sense of how things fit within a space and how to make a room both functional and visually appealing. He also uses a 3D drafting program that allows you to see exactly what the finished space will look like before the work begins, which is incredibly helpful. We just moved to Ardsley, NY a few days ago. We hired an organizing company to unpack and organize us for our move date but unfortunately it didn't work out. When I relocated to the NYC area, I found I had many more things than the space to keep them. I started by throwing some of my things away, which killed me, because I didn't have junk. I have to confess I own almost every kitchen gadget on the market, and not enough draw space to keep it all. I was looking for tips on getting organized, and I found Chaos Commandos, a professional organizing company. Outstanding. I called for an estimate and spoke with Robert, the owner. I explained to him my needs, which extended beyond my kitchen. I also had a very unorganized home office, and more items in storage. Robert came to see me and look at my situation. He made some initial suggestions I thought were brilliant, and then he offered to drive out and see the items I had in storage. I felt he had a sincere interest in helping me, and he took his job very seriously. I didn't want to keep paying for storage, but I was willing to if it meant I would have to throw these things away. One of Robert's great talents is the ability to put a value on what to keep and what not to keep. He asked me out of the blue "Do you make homemade pasta?" Of course, I make it all the time. "Do you use any of these pasta making machines?" (I had three) I don't. It is actually easier and faster for me to make pasta by hand, but the real issue is that these pasta makers are very hard to clean. It takes out of making pasta, but I din't want to throw them away; they are good machines. "How about you donate them?" Robert asked me. "There are kids groups that would love these, and love you for donating them. Perfect, I can do that. I agreed to hire him as my organizer and within a week, he was able to start the job. As time would go on, there were things he collected and donated to youth groups in the area. There were other things he sold for me on eBay and on Craig's list. If you have a lot of things you may have to part with, Robert is very understanding how you feel, and is able to find your things the home they deserve. At home, he converted a large closet I had into a Pantry, which is just off the kitchen. He organized the space so efficiently, I was able to get everything I kept in there, and easy to get. In my kitchen, we talked a long time how I cook (I am a chef) and about the tools of different cooking techniques. Robert is not a chef, but he wanted to understand the flow of how I work in the kitchen and put all the appreciate tools within reach, and based on how often I use them. I was amazed how much care he put into making my kitchen efficient without being cluttered. If left up to me, everything would be on the counter and in the nearest drawer, making it overstuffed. Robert is an organizational genius. He basically did the same thing to my home office. What I needed (and he helped me set a priority) was close by, and he created additional storage shelves and files for my other things. He also helped me organize thousands of files I had on my computer. This was something we didn't contract for, but he added it for a nominal fee. In all honesty, I can say Robert is one of the most professional people I ever met, and he is gifted with a talent to organize anything, no matter how much space you have. His solution to donate the items I don't really need made me feel good, and much better than throwing these things away. We did throw some things away, and he took care of too. I highly recommend Chaos Commandos for any organization services you may need, and at the very least, at least call him and hear his point of view. DO NOT HIRE CHAOS COMMANDOS! I contacted Rob Mizrahi, Head Commando, of Chaos Commandos in June of 2013. Following my inquiry via email, Mr. Mizrahi reached out to me by both phone and email several times to set up a meeting. He was persistent, and I appreciated that he wanted my business. When we were finally able to speak, we set up time for him to come to my home for a consultation. On the day of the appointment, approximately a half hour before he was to arrive, he called to let me and my partner know that he would have to cancel as he was tied up in another appointment. This was disappointing, but given my partner and I have busy schedules ourselves, we understood that these things can happen, and we rescheduled the appointment. Mr. Mizrahi visited our home in June, and we were impressed with what he offered to be able to do in terms of helping us organize our home. We agreed to retain his services for 6 months, signed a contract, and paid him about $1100 as a non-refundable retainer fee. Mr. Mizrahi agreed to follow up with us within the next few days to schedule his next visit so that we could get started before my fiancé and I left for vacation. We did not receive any communication from Mr. Mizrahi. After we returned from our summer trips, I reached out by text message to Mr. Mizrahi in mid-August to let him know that we were ready to get started. No reply. Months passed and no word from Mr. Mizrahi. I reached out to him again in December, this time threatening legal action, and (miracles of miracles!) I heard from him right away. Was it to apologize for being out of touch? Was it to offer some sort of discount given the lack of communication on his part? Was it to offer extending the retainer on our contract? No, it was not. Instead, he referenced the email reply that he claimed to have sent to my mid-August inquiry to which he said he received no reply from me. He also referenced several follow up emails that he claimed to have sent me, including one I replied to, where he says he tried to set up an appointment with me. He ended the email by saying that my contract was set to expire at the end of the month, giving me only 10 days to try and set up my appointment, but he warned me that he was very busy. When I checked my junk folder and did not find the emails, I asked Mr. Mizrahi to forward me the emails he referenced; he forwarded me screenshots of emails that did not include my email address, nor did the emails include any response from me. When I asked him to forward me the actual emails, he said that they were "immaterial." He also said that he "could not imagine" why I would wait 4 months (between my emails of August and December) to reach out to him to set up an appointment. Apparently, when you pay someone to deliver a service to you, Mr. Mizrahi thinks that it's the customer's responsibility to track that person down. I find it curious that I received all of Mr. Mizrahi's communications before I put down a deposit, and he and I have had NO problem exchanging emails after I threatened legal action. I also find it strange that Mr. Mizrahi will not forward me the emails that would, ostensibly, prove that he was, in fact, in communication with me when he says he was. For the reasons above and because I feel there is some deception afoot here, I will be going forward with a civil suit. Not to regain my deposit, which is probably unlikely, but to let Mr. Mizrahi know that the way he does business is unacceptable. DO NOT HIRE Rob Mizrahi and Chaos Commandos. In addition, when my Mom died, I moved in to take care of my disabled Dad. Because I had to move in quickly, I put my things in the spare bedrooms so I could sell my co-op. His characterization of me as a hoarder is untrue and shows his viciousness. read more

Rob and his assistant helped me get unpacked and organized in my apartment. I didn't think it would be possible for them to fit all my stuff into the small kitchen I was moving into, but they managed to figure out a way. They were very good at going through boxes of random stuff and finding a place to put it, and to save space at the same time. I highly recommend their services. read more

Chaos Commandos worked on several organizing projects for us, and we had a wonderful experience with them. We found Rob's organizing solutions and problem-solving skills to be first-rate. He made order out of our disastrously cluttered attic, and came up with a beautiful labeling system to help us maintain the tidy new space up there. He also took on a garage that had become a hopelessly (and embarrassingly) messy dumping spot for the whole family's junk. He and his assistants cleaned up, pared down and organized our things so that we know where to find what we're looking for--he even made room for us to park our cars again! Initially I was hesitant about bringing in a professional organizer, because some of the work in our attic involved personal memorabilia and financial documents, but Rob and his assistants were careful and respectful in handling our family's things. We interviewed two other organizers before deciding on Chaos Commandos, and our instincts about Rob were right: He was reliable, ethical and professional. He responded to my phone messages and emails within 24 hours, and he completed our projects on schedule and within our budget.
