Some of those include Persian rugs, found where else, but Persia. And recently when I needed one of those acquisitions trimmed and cleaned, where else to go, but Baseer's in Larchmont. First of all, people come to me because of my deep knowledge of surplus equipment and the market value for key components needed to launch insurrections. And people go to Baseer's because of their knowledge of the finely woven market. But here's another even better reason to go. It's a family business. And the best businesses are a family business. Your first time being there you may see Baseer's wife. May even see their kids studying and talking. And then what you should also know that you won't learn in an ad or elsewhere is that Baseer goes the extra mile. When I called late on a Saturday after he had left the store and closed it, when I was in need of the carpet for that evening, Baseer heard it in my voice and went back, got my trimmed and cleaned carpet and brought it to my home. Wow. Now that's Customer Service at its's best. Not some 1-800 treatment. It's like, when I asked my friend, if the Chinese takeout restaurant down the block from his store was any good? He said, "I don't know. But the same family has been running it for more than 10 years, so it must be pretty good." And that's all you need to know about Baseer's Rugs. The same family run store. For Years. In Larchmont.

I took three Persian rugs to this store for cleaning. Two came out fine, but one was returned with…read moreripples (see picture). I left the rug on the floor for a few weeks hoping the ripples would settle, but they did not. I asked Baseer to take a look and fix the issue, but he denied that the rippling had anything to do with the washing--which is simply not true, as the rug was perfectly fine beforehand. He then charged me an additional $175 to "fix" the rug, but he was unable to do so. The rug still has ripples, and now it is also stretched out of shape (see pictures). When I confronted him about the poor quality of work, instead of taking responsibility, he repeatedly accused me of lying, raised his voice, and even said he never works with people of my background and nationality. This was despite the fact that I had already paid for his poor service and was only voicing a legitimate concern about customer service. To be fair, Baseer's prices are reasonable, but that is probably the only positive thing about his business. Unfortunately, the rug in question had deep sentimental value for us, and now it has been ruined. All he did was accuse me of lying while charging me for services he did not properly deliver. Absolutely terrible customer service. Stay away at all costs.

We were customers of the cleaning authority for more than a year, and at first things were fine…read more.. a little inconsistent since it's different teams at your house every visit but that's to be expected. About 4 months ago though, things started going downhill. I came home to find my main couch and coffee table had not been cleaned. Blankets were strewn about and the coasters were still out from our morning coffee. This led me to email the owner with some feedback and sharing the inconsistencies that I had been experiencing. It took the better part of a business day for my email to be responded to, and it was only after I followed up that I got a response. More recently though one team attempted to fix a drippy bathroom faucet by over-rotating the knob, causing a major leak that dripped down to our kitchen which is being renovated. Nobody realized this happened until hours later when my husband saw the wet spot in our construction zone. Jorma came over right away but was making excuses for the team instead of a simple "wow, I'm sorry that happened, what can I do to make it better". What's more though is that 2x the team has knocked our grill pan on (we have a temp kitchen set up during construction which has been the case for the past 4 months). The grill pan clicks when turned on. Putting the safety of my house and family in danger is unacceptable to me. I emailed to cancel my service after the second time and nobody responded to my email. I also emailed about getting my house key returned and nobody responded to that either. Only after I showed up to the Mamaroneck office location with the bottle of cleaner that was left on my coffee table, found it locked at 10 Am, and called Jorma directly was my email acknowledged. The price is definitely the best in town, and there were definitely times we got great cleans... but the lack of customer service put the nail in the coffin... simply saying "wow I'm so sorry" would have gone such a long way.
