My family has been ordering cakes from this place since I could remember. Back in the day the cakes used to be moist and filled with fresh fruit. Unfortunately, times have changed and so have their cakes. I ordered a cake for my birthday and mind you it was a big cake which cost about $60 including decorations and other stuff. I was very disappointed. None of my guests liked the cakes and it was left to sit there until it went bad. Singles slices of cake are pretty good but a bit overpriced. The other pastries are alright but you can get croissants and muffins anywhere else. I do have to say that their sandwiches are actually okay. This cake ruined my birthday party yesterday 7/20 The cake is not good. The fruit in the cake was rotten. The customer service sucks. I went back today 7/21/2023 to Chantilly pastry shop to return / exchange the cake and the manager/owner Maria did not want to hear my complaint. She said that the police have told her that she should not accept food back in the shop. I told her to try the cake and she would not eat her own cake. She acted like she was offended. Again she said that the police have told her not to eat food that came out of the shop. When I took out my cell phone to record the bad customer service; Maria went to the back of the shop. It seems to me that she has a lot of experience dealing with people trying to return bad cakes and police. I will open a dispute with my bank once the transaction post. Very dissapointed with the cake. Paid $46 dollars for a tres leche cake good enough for ten people. Drove over an hour to get it. =(. It was very dry, fruit on top was not fresh. It did not taste like a tres leche cake. Save yourself from wasting your money and having to throw out more than half of a cake. This is an amazing Peruvian Pastry shop. My friend, who is originally from Peru, ordered her Baby Shower cake there. And it was the best cake I have ever eaten in the United States. It was a "Torta de Tres Leches" or "Three Milks Cake", it was just so soft and smooth and just a-ma-zing, the texture melts on your tongue like ice-cream. I still remember it. Well it's true girls usually love cake. You can tell that the store is loved by the local Peruvian community. It was packed when we came to pick up the cake at the store. They also sell their traditional drinks, like blue corn juice and Inca Kola.(Really nice). If you are not familiar you should stop by and give it a try, totally worth it. read more

And always change the service fee which also changes done days 1.50 last time I went there and spent 63. This bakery store used to be the best years ago with delicious Peruvian sweets. BUT the sweets that I bought today, 11-16-22, mil ojas and pionono were not good and expensive. The mil ojas was not fresh, tasted old. The pionono had very, very little caramel and tasted dry. Sadly, I do not recommend this bakery any longer. Used to love this place & their cakes but yesterday I ordered a chocolate cake with strawberries for niece's birthday. The cake was so hard & dry it was so embarrassing giving that out to my guests. Honestly felt like I was eating sand! If you are looking for a good bakery with good customer service, please turn away from Chantilly in Passaic. Not only did they create my cake incorrectly, but the lead baker (an older heavy set lady) was rude from the moment I walked in all the way until I walked out the door. She was initially mad because I didn't speak Spanish, so she continued to make comments thinking I didn't understand, but my fiancé is Spanish and I've learned a few things where I can make out what certain words are. She made a comment referring to me being a "terrorist" because of my beard and ethnicity which was completely uncalled for. And she continued to refuse to even speak to me regarding my cake. Her own coworkers and other customers in the store all were in shock from the way she treated me. After spending over $60 for a basic tres leches cake, they didn't even add the fruits on top which is why I paid extra, saying I never clarified that yet the receipt clearly showed strawberries and peaches on top were very important for my mother who this cake was for. I kept my cool because I didn't want to make a scene in front of other customers but I WILL NEVER be coming back here and I advise everyone reading this review to look elsewhere for better cakes. Went to this place to get a tres leche cake... it was recommended by a friend. Worst customer service I have gotten in my entire life ! They allowed about 10 people to cut in front of me while I was in line ... when I finally said something about it they tried to ignore me and say the line was somewhere else... when the place was not busy at all when I first got in.... finally another service representative came and was about to take someone else !!! Seriously how rude can someone be? I ordered a cake for my son's 12th birthday 3 weeks prior to the party. I today I go to pick up the cake at 4 which was the time agreed upon with the manager. The cake was not ready when I got there, I had to wait 25. For them to put an edible cake topper I brought in 5 days prior to the party. The cake itself looked ok. The biggest disappointment was when I cut into the cake. They gave me something I had not ordered. A really moist cake (3 leches) With Bavarian cream and peaches. I was upset but I gave the cake to the kids because everyone was sitting around waiting for a piece. Not one single child ate the cake and only 2 adults ate cake. It was a bit embarrassing. I decided to call them and speak to a manager. I explained the situation to the manager and she quickly started yelling at me that she wasn't going to give me a refund. She didn't aologize for the error that was made. I told her I don't want a refund I Just want you to make me a new cake. She stAted that either way she was losing money. But I lost 35 dollars on a cake that went to the garbage. She then tells me that if I Want a refund I would have to bring my garbage bag and the rest of the untouched cake. I was so upset I grabbed my. Garbage bag and the left over cake and headed to the bakery. Once I arrived I went to the counter and she had two men waiting With her and they quickly got between her and I. She didn't look at me she took the left over cake checked it and handed me my money. Once again apologies were offered. I left my garbage bag on the floor and I left $5 on the counter for the two pieces that were actually eaten by the 2 adults. We ordered a cake for my mom's birthday and it was not as expected. I actually couldn't believe it was from this bakery because years ago they use to make their cakes really good, and now it's a huge downgrade. The cake looked well on the outside, but cutting into it, it wasn't good. It wasn't moist in any way, it was pure dryness to the point where it made our throats dry, and cakes shouldn't do that. Like I said before, they use to be really good at making their cakes, but I assume because they got more attention, good reviews, and clients throughout the years, they just probably don't care anymore on the quality of the cakes they send out. In the long run, if having more business really affected on how they make their pastries, it wouldn't go good for them too long. The desserts here are ok but not the best. Today's cashier was rude and nasty. She tried to shove all the sweets in one box and refused to give me another box. All the sweets got squished and some stuck to the box. I had to stop her from ruining them worse and she got mad and rolled her eyes.
