Walked in the front door but left on a stretcher in the company of paramedics, with a piece of their dry undigestable food stuck in my throat. (What didn't get stuck when right thru me and made me throw up, food poisoning). No, you shouldn't wolf your food and try to swallow it whole. But I figured out WHY, in this place, the wolfing of food and swallowing of it whole are encouraged. They watch you and, just as sure as the day is long, once you've filled your second plate there they are with the check and the fortune cookies. As far as buffets go ( I usually stay as far away from buffets as possible) this one gets an A+ . It had the usual stuff you find everywhere ( honey chicken, sesame, veggie delight, eggrolls, ice cream, ect. ) But it also had delicious crab legs, fantastic stuffed clam ( I know, I couldn't even believe I tried it- but I'm glad I did!), stuffed mushrooms to die for, and so many more choices that were surprising as well as delicious. I just moved to Port Huron from Macomb Twp. and glad I found Chan's Buffet. Macomb County has some fantastic Chinese restaurant but the food at Chan's Buffet is very good and the variety of soups is excellent. Hostess is helpful and nice but they watch over you like a hawk. Let us eat without any of the restaurant waitresses or hostess staring at our table. It's in a good location with plenty of nearby parking. I spoke with a neighbor who used to eat here but now frequents somewhere else because she felt threatened. Uneasy atmosphere. But the food is good with a nice variety. read more

The waitress we had could hardly speak English. The food was less than adequate for a Chinese restaurant offering a buffet. The lo mein was linguini, won ton soup was salty but the won tons were tasty. The veggies were dry and had obviously been in the trays. The price was adequate. Will not be back!!! read more

The garlic green beens were great. Best I have ever had. The shrimp were good, but hard to dig out of the ice. Not a great vegetable selection, and mostly empty. The chop suey is the noodle, not the bean sprout type. My biggest complaint is the sweetness factor of most of the dishes. Even the dill pickles were sweet tasting, and according to my friend, so were the stuffed mushrooms. Just too much sugar all round. read more

First time there during Halloween weekend and it wasn't busy at all which was very surprising. Everything I chose was hot and delicious, especially the lo-mein. Will most likely come back as I have a thing for Chinese food, but then again, who doesn't? read more

No complaints here. There is a great selection on the buffet, everything is always hot and fresh and my fav part is that they have crab Rangoon's and the sweet cream Rangoon's. So good! I have about 8 every time I come. The one thing they don't have is potstickers which is another one of my favs but since everything else is so good it makes up for it. read more

They no longer have crab legs on the buffet, and we found the food to be mediocre, as we went at 3:45 pm when they were getting ready to change over to dinner....then at dessert, the cake at the verey far right had little bugs crawling in it! I told the server very discreetly and she went over and swished her hand over the entire dessert table like she was swishing the bugs away, then she came and thanked me for bringing it to her attention, but they didn't take the cake away and still wanted to charge us for the dinner price when we arrived during the lunch price, we will not be going there again. read more

Worse Chinese buffet experience ever. Food was horrible. Burnt, over cooked, dried out, not fresh and cheaply made even for a buffet. Very disappointing. Was not like this before. Must have hit at a bad time or different staff. read more

Food was okay, but the service was less than decent. Waitress didn't acknowledge or speak to any of us the entire time we were eating, even when we asked questions. Then she starting cleaning under the booth behind us and repeatedly smacked the table against the booth we were sitting in. Most likely won't be back. read more

Had dinner, 1st time there, tonite & was warmly greeted, takin' care of by my server with great care & professionalism. Food was good, presented in a good manner & there was plenty. Will return again & again as well would recommended Chan's to any & all. (Nice to have a tasty replacement to Mongolians after it hit the skids.) P.S. BEWARE! Extremely long wait for crap legs. They offer it on the buffet but there is rarely any available. Plan on waiting for 20 minutes before they put out enough bits & pieces for one person. Wish I could say this only happened once but it hasn't. Have gone numerous times hoping I just hit them on an off day. I'll never go back! read more

Chan's Buffet is an all you can eat Chinese place, that also features some American food. This is the place to go in Port Huron if you are looking for cheap Chinese food. It's not the best in town, (look to China Lite for the best imo) but it's definitely the cheapest. Food is refilled fast, waitresses are friendly but not down your throat and the place is clean. Can't ask for more than that! My personal favorite there is the crab ragoon and the sesame chicken. read more

I first went to the Mongolian Barbeque Chinese Buffet and walked up to the counter where the price of $10.49 with drinks of $.99 - Senior discount -- show identification. I looked over their food and really wasn't impressed. I left and went down the street to Chan's. I walked in and was greeted cheerily and taken to my choice of a table. I was not told the price and did not see it as I came in - I guess I could have missed it. The buffet was pretty small - I would have liked more selections. I thought it was odd that the condiments were in packets like the fast food places. I picked my food and was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was moist, not dry like a lot of the buffets(Golden Corral for one). The food was actually tasty , not just OK. I am quite the "Trough"(buffet) feeder. My server was a little slow to return and check for drinks and although she was not rude, she also was not smiling or friendly. I was fat and happy when my bill came and forgot to ask for a senior discount - now that I'm retired I get all the help I can. The price was $10.99 + $1.00 for the drink - of course the Governor got his cut(tax). All in all not bad. read more

Okay so I have been going here about once a month for the past year. I am not a obese person by any means, However these people keep rushing me out the door. The last time it was less than 10 minutes of me and my girlfriend being there. They are rude and pushy and want you to leave after 3 plates every single time. I feel very unwelcomed in this place and I am never returning. Honestly if you can take the drive to sandusky, about a hour or so away, you can get great Chinese food there. Do not get their buffet and get a meal there. They are full of food and great. Hot and fresh. Well worth the trip. read more

being a vegetarian in port huron was hard, chans was always there for me and it hasnt changed a bit, however i agree that now that the mongolian grille has opened down the street chans is not really worth visiting. my family still loves it though and we go often when i'm in town. the sushi is so pathetic if youre from a city at all it will hurt your soul, but the stuffed mushrooms are excellent here and stuffed only with potato and though that sounds boring they are so flavorful its almost hard to believe. they also make these breaded zucchini things i have never had any where else and love very much. i also think chans has the best chinese donuts i've ever had. the staff is always very nice and accommodating, they thoroughly helped me identify everything with meat (especially chicken broth) on the bar. i love it that i can eat the rice here (a lot of chinese food places put chicken broth in their rice), it is much better here than at mongolian grille, the breaded shrimp is also better here. as a vegetarian there are quiet a few options here. i absolutely love the buddah near the door on the way out, i feel like he tells me to have a good day every time i leave! read more
