Went here during a trip to Sarnia and was moderately satisfied with the place. The owner needs to be a little more courteous while attending guests. He barely smiled. The food was just okay. The dal makhani was decent but didn't taste exactly like dal makhani, iykyk. Kebab wasn't satisfactory either. The naans were really fresh though. Ambiance is quite well done. This is not only is the best Indian food in Sarnia but IMO it's the best in canada. I've had most of the foods on the menue and they're all great. My partner and I came to Sitara for our anniversary dinner. We weren't that hungry, but we were craving Indian food while I'm on rotation here. The mango lassi was exactly the way it needed to be, sweet, thick, and delicious. It perfectly balanced out the spice from the biryani. I don't think I would've survived without it, even though we had ordered mild spice level, because I have low tolerance. service was really good. waiters were attentive and accommodating to requests. ambiance was nice, pretty typical of an Indian restaurant. food was fine, nothing overly spectacular but also no complaints. I got the Shahi korma and garlic naan as the main dishes. the naan was super fluffy and nice, the Shahi korma was creamy with a good tomato flavour, but pretty clearly microwaved. the paneer was also a bit tough and crumbly. First the food is great! The service was awful, had to ask for drink when we were empty, we had a resversation at 3pm for 8 people and it was dead but still the service was horrible. Not only the service but there a smelt like an out house as we walked in, as using the bathroom I knew where the smell was coming from! there was blood up the wall , the bathroom absolutely smelt so bad and hasn't be clean in a very long time! the men in our party also the said the washroom was disgusting! our bill was over 400 we still tipped good but honestly I think i will never return. This place is great I went to their new location downtown Sarnia which is pretty small but has a nice atmosphere. There was nobody else in the restaurant when we arrived but throughout the night a few other families ate in and there was quite a lot of take-out. First off we all got Samosas to start. The wait staff was very accommodating and allowed us to switch up their 2pc Samosas to a 4pc. These Samosas were the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! They are the size of my fist, have 2 types of sauces on top and are served with chana on top which is delicious! They are crispy on the outside and so flavourful on the inside. For my entree I ordered the Paneer Korma which was full of flavours of coconut, spice, and my favourite cheese! My sister ordered a vegetable korma which tasted the same but had mixed vegetables in it and was a little less flavourful than the paneer korma. Rice, naan, and other sides are extra. I just want to let people know that their menu is SO amazingly accommodating to people with different dietary restrictions. They ask you what your spice level is and adjust it accordingly. They have a tremendous amount of items on the vegan, vegetarian, and meat sections to help you decide. So there is no reason you won't be able to find something you like here! read more

The food here is incredible! We cannot wait until the pandemic is over so we can go across the bridge and either dine here or order this to go. The owners are so kind and helpful if you're new to ordering here which makes the whole experience really relaxing and enjoyable. 20 minutes from our house in the U.S.; we're gonna be regulars! Fine Indian food in a casual atmosphere. Dined with 4 people, sharing entrees and apps. My favorites were Lamb Vindaloo (spicy enough to please me yet edible for the whole table) and a vegetarian dish made with a sweet curry; the combination of the hot vindaloo and the sweet coconut curry was perfection. My wife loved the Chicken Sizzler appetizer and everyone loved the Garlic Naan. We all had Mango Lassi (smoothie) and the warm Indian tea (Chai?) was a wonderful end to the meal. The food here is amazing, the staff are so friendly and quick to serve, and the owner comes to the door to greet you every time, and checks up on how your meal is doing. This is the only time I have ever been to a restaurant where the owner truly shows he cares about his customers. The food here is incredible. Simple, classic Indian dishes that are homemade and delicious every single time. Even when they are very busy and I have to wait a little longer for my food, I don't mind, because the food and service here are so awesome that it makes up for it! I am so glad there is finally some diversity in Sarnia in regards to food! It's about time we got an Indian restaurant - and a five star one at that! The owner is so nice, he always accommodates me because I am vegan, so the last time we went in, he made me roti, even though it wasn't on their menu, just so I could have it to eat with my meal. So awesome! They really go above and beyond for their customers, and they are happy to explain to you what is in each dish. During one visit, one staff member actually explained that the names of the dishes are usually one of the main ingredients in the dish (i.e. Aloo Gobi literally means Potato Cauliflower - interesting!) I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who loves great, high quality food and impeccable service from amazing staff and owners! I highly reccomend sitara. I always eat here when I come to sarnia. Before you even order your food the first thing you notice is the customer service and the warmness of the sitara owner/staff. They show tons of appreciation to everyone who comes to their resteraunt. The food is served quickly and is always delicious. Their vegetable samosas and perfectly flaky and stuffed to brim with fresh potatoes and vegetables. Make sure that you don't skimp on the delicious dipping sauce that comes on the side. My second favorite dish is the tandoori chicken which is perfectly spiced but not too much and very tender and falls of the bone. Make sure to have one of their generously sized pieces of succulent garlic naan bread and finish your meal with a sweet mango lassi. Bonus: they also deliver! read more

DOWNTOWN Sarnia location, Lunch! Our first time at Sitara was at the London Rd location, and it was so good that we just had to visit the downtown restaurant. Also, in addition to all the ala carte menu items, Sitara offers a thali lunch, with your choice of listed entrees and Chana Masala (chickpeas in spicy sauce), Naan and basmati rice, so we decided to go at lunchtime. First, the decor. This is a beautiful small space. With the unobtrusive music, original rough-glazed brick walls, custom wall-length buffet seating as well as some separate tables, and extra-high ceilings, it's got a comfortable urban feel. The service? Perfect. Very quick from the time we ordered to when our food was brought. Satara's owner, Manjit, was in the house, greeting all customers and making sure every last thing was perfect. Our friendly server provided the kind of service you expect in a large 5 star restaurant. Our thali platters? Wow. We got the garlic naan for a little bit extra cost, and it came fresh out of the tandoori. Beautiful to see, enticing aroma, and so good to eat that we could have made a guilty meal out of that with a chutney or raita, all by itself. The rice, a huge fluffy mound on each platter, was freshly made, with each grain standing out separately, fragrant and tender. And the Chana Masala - that could be a meal by itself, too. It was a perfect medium-plus blend of heat, spices, tomato, and chickpeas. The entrees. Every item on the lunch special menu sounds good - this was a hard choice. We will eventually go through the whole menu, over the weeks of driving to Sarnia from the Mount Clemens, MI area. This time, I had Chicken Korma, and my husband had Chicken Vindaloo. The 1" chunks of chicken breast meat in both these dishes was butter-tender. The sauces? There is a perfectionist chef behind these sauces, and we're the beneficiaries. The Vindadaloo - tangy, hot, sweet, rich; the Korma, creamy spicy bliss. Another endorphin-raising experience at Sitara. It's better than chocolate - yikes, I can't believe I said that. read more

I can honestly say that Sitara serves some of the best Indian cuisine you can find on the planet. My first Sitara experience was this past Saturday - we ordered veggie pakoras, chana masala, and dairy-free shrimp korma. Everything was delicious, but a little under-spiced (I may just feel this way since my mother was visiting, and she had us order the mild version of everything), and the service was quite good. Our first server (and the person to bring out our food) went to get the owner after hearing it was our first visit, and the owner of the restaurant took our order (and helped us navigate around the menu). All in all, a good experience. I won't be there constantly, but whenever I feel a hankering for Indian food and don't feel like prepping chana myself (I make a mean crock-pot chana), I don't doubt I'll stop in. read more

We have been to a number of Indian restaurants in the Sarnia and Toronto areas and Sitara is definitely up there as one of our favourites. People need to be here for a cultural experience. I haven't had Indian cooking like this before, and I was pretty impressed with the overall presentation of the whole. The service was very good, the waiter was very polite asking us questions to help find the best intro to the Indian style food. After the order was taken we were presented with a starter that reminded of a thin, and very dry tortilla and mango sauce. We ordered lamb vindaloo and the butter chicken, both upon delivery were presented as a typical dish in bowls to the table. It tasted really good for a mid ranged dining experience. The atmosphere was so nice and quiet, and we had a candle lit table. One point to note on top of the ordering you are encouraged to share dishes amongst the table to get a more fulfilling and communal diner. A defiant must to those looking to push new boundaries and cultural limits. read more
