Food was not good at all. Wife and I went in, grabbed few plates, put them aside as they were dirty. Next set of plates, same thing. Finally got clean ones, got our food, lo-mein, rice, vegetables, and grab bag of meats variety. The meat was crunchy and subpar, the rice and lo-mein had a horrible smoky flavor like it was burnt. Think liquid smoke but let dry to the pan, burning food with it. For the price id expect at least halfway decent sides. Vegetables were undercooked first plate, they were hard and crunchy. Then couple of minutes they brought fresh ones, that were overcooked and underwhelming. If you want chinese buffet, this is not up to par with basic American chinese buffets that you can visit across the rest of the state. The ambiance was good though, felt cozy, just not worth it in the end. My parents also had same experience today. read more

The best part of my Mother's Day meal was the soda. To begin the bottom of the "clean plates" had food residue on them. We ate dinner at 3:30 so you would figure the food would be fairly fresh, but a lot of it was older as if you went to a buffet just before they close. The meat was very chewy and the vegetables were either undercooked or overcooked. Honestly I would not recommend eating there. There was an overpowering taste of smoke in the rice and low mien. everyone thats complaining just doesnt know how to eat here. this place is so yummy! ive gone once a week for like 20 years and i still love it. nothing to even complain about. if your cup is dirty, ask for a new one. if a piece of food looks weird, push it aside then go get more. i would love if they brought back the shrimp salad that they use to put in clam shells. or at least just make a big bin of it and let us scoop it out ourselves read more

I wanted to try this place out but I was very disappointed. I usually go to a different buffet and I wanted to compare it to my favorite restaurant. The cost was the same as the other place and that's where the similarities end. There was about half of the amount of selections to choose from and some of the food items were empty. It was a dark atmosphere and the carpet was filthy. My cup for tea was so dirty that I couldn't even use it. The, I can't call her a waitress, gave us our drinks then only removed our plates when we were getting ready to leave. I don't recommend eating there. read more

I went to Chans buffet for lunch at 12:30 on a Friday and everything looked as if it had been sitting out for hours. Someone is going to get sick. Every time I came in here for lunch, half of the entrees looked to be sitting out for hours. It would be to their advantage not to open the buffet so early so that by lunch time the food is still edible. read more

Service was good and the food was excellent. The selections were many and the staff ensured that fresh food came out as needed. As you can see by the photos there is also a small selection of American food as is customary in many Chinese restaurants. Keep in mind this was in Easter Sunday so I definitely wouldn't hesitate to return and would whole heartedly recommend. read more

Food was cold found gnats on all the food I was harassed for a tip every time I went to get food

Do not eat here unless you want to get sick and pay for food that tastes like it has been left out for days. The food was freezing cold. There was no veggies in the lo mien besides for overcooked, wilted onions and green strings (see photos for reference) The "chicken" was just all fat and definitely not real chicken meat. There was hair fuzzies in the fried rice and in the egg roll. We found a clear piece (see photo) in the egg roll that felt like plastic. Only two bites that were spit out caused very upset stomachs. I hope this review helps others avoid getting sick. Very disappointed especially because they did not offer anything to make it right. DO NOT recommend. read more

The very first thing that occured when we walked in the door was a person asking us to pay in advance. We couldn't even see the food from the front of the restaurant (or I might have just declined and gone elsewhere). I've never paid for a buffet in advance before. The servers were all sweet and friendly, but the food was not good. The bourbon chicken's texture was weird, like it had been cooked and then frozen and reheated. The green beans didn't taste fresh. The mei fun was in a sticky clump and was burnt in spots, and the vegetables in it seemed old. The egg roll didn't seem to have been cooked long enough. The potstickers were vile, like nothing but a ball of unseasoned pork inside the dough. Things weren't really warm. The ice cream station was a mess! Chocolate sauce all over the place, sprinkles sprinkled everywhere. The atmosphere is really outdated, but that doesn't always mean the food is bad. Our drinks stayed filled, and any empty plates (some people don't care what they eat) were promptly taken away. read more

Look pretty hard for a decent Chinese buffet in my new location and this one definitely fits the bill. The selections are diverse; nothing looks like it's been sitting for an extended amount of time. Staff are always taking care of refilling empty dishes (they could just work on having a couple staff that understood English a little better manning the buffet.) Very clean, as well. Soups are great. the desserts are pretty wonderful too! There is a little variety from day to day as well. Lunch buffet and dinner buffet are pretty similar. Price is great. Kudos! read more

I was told by the woman that handled my order two weeks ago that all I had to do was order the missing item next time I went there. However when I tried to order from there last night, the girl said it had been too long! Two weeks is too long? Used to be our favorite restaurant, now we will never be back. read more

Disgusting food . Fell off so bad . They wanted you to pay up front before eating of course then charge you 5 dollars to take a few bites of something that tasted like socks and grease . I been going there a few years but seems to be on downhill slide, We stopped in and payed for lunch buffet and were almost done when they brought out popcorn shrimp's so we got it as last item, well the server stopped over and said we must pay more, I said why and no way then she got owner, same thing..pay more. its not my fault they brought out dinner items to a buffet.. how would I know.. I am so disappointed in this restaurant. I ordered unsweetened tea and I was gone sweet tea instead. But we corrected the mistake. The pickles weren't dill and the tomatoes where sweet. SWEET! We ordered take out Monday (6-23-22} I had Sesame Chicken after eating half my meal I found a black bug in my food. Which I know shit happens, but after calling them and talking to about five different people and about a half hour later they said bring it back. We live about 20 minutes away and we were going to back to Port Huron on Wednesday anyway. So on Wed. we went back and my wife went inside and after a half hour of arguing they said they wouldn't refund my money because I ate half my meal. I didn't find the bug until then. HORRIBLE customer service! HORRiBLE Manager-woman from HELL--really ICK! My husband was eating his late lunch, we all were still nibbling and he was eating some shrimp, about 15 on a little plate and the woman came and took his plate--saying "you not pay for this!!" We were appalled!! WOW! Besides, there have been times the space has been dirty....ick, again. We will never go back and we tell all we know. Not everyone eats lunch at 12 noon--some of us eat later and if that is during a restaurant's change over time from lunch from dinner, then so be it. They need to let people EAT--especially since it is a buffet! We will NEVER go back....WE GO TO MONGOLIAN BUFFET--it's just wonderful--great customer service, great food and CLEAN. read more

I've eaten at Chan's many times over the last 4 or 5 years... but ever since the Mongolian Buffet has opened up right down the street (In the "Old Country Buffet" location), I don't see much point in going here anymore. I tried eating at Chan's again recently just to be able to compare the two places. There's nothing wrong with the food here... it's good. But, they certainly don't have the "selection" that the Mongolian has. Plus, the Mongolian has the "Mongolian BBQ" along with all the other Chinese dishes. Then, to add insult to injury, I believe the Mongolian is actually CHEAPER in price than eating at Chan's. (Although, one place might include the drink in the price, and the other might not... I'm not sure on that). What I AM sure of... is WHY would you choose to eat at Chan's when both places are about the same price and the Mongolian offers the bigger selection? Ya... I would imagine that there are some people out there that are going to say that Chan's food tastes better (and some people that will say that the Mongolian has the better food). But, really... they are both fine. Chan's does offer a Take-Out Menu with many different dishes that you can order to go. The Mongolian doesn't necessarily have that, but they do let you go in and fill up a to-go box with food and take it with you (they charge you by the weight). When it comes right down to it... I'll probably NEVER go to Chan's Buffet again. And I don't really understand why anyone else would either... as long as the Mongolian Buffet & Grill is open practically right next door (they're within walking distance to one another, easily). read more

I've been working in the area for a few weeks now and have visited Chans Buffett 4 different times. They have a wide variety of food options, as well as dessert and icecream! The hostess who was the same lady in the pink hat everytime is super nice to everyone! It's good food for the price and I was happy to make the longer drive for it. read more

I really like this place. The one item that gives it an edge on almost any other chinese buffet is this cheesy cabbage casserole, its awesome. The other items are pretty standard, but the thoughts of the cabbage casserole are what pull me in here over the extremely close mongolian buffet. I feared for my precious casserole when the mongolian joint first opened but thankfully it remains. The service is friendly, if somewhat challenged by the english language. It is pretty clean. Offers soups, a nice dessert spread with ice cream. Egg rolls, crab stuffed rangoon, sesame chicken etc. The green beans are tasty. Don't touch the stuffed clam shells, I think they reuse the shells. This is a buffet, so an automatic star off for that, if buffets don't make you cringe a little, then add a star on to my review. read more

Having been to this restaurant since it first opened when I was 9 years old, it's the best Chinese buffet restaurant in the Blue Water area. Stopping in for New Years Day dining, I found a lot of the food kept hot and delicious. The pan-fried dumplings with soy sauce is fantastic and spot-on. The sesame chicken and other chicken selections were well-cooked and the sauce was comfortably hot, temperature-wise. Chan's did an incredible job with the shrimp, but the Salt and Pepper Shrimp has the black line on the bottom. If you see a black line in the shrimp, it's not deveined. Shrimp has got to be cooked better if you devein them. Other than that, it is nice for the restaurant to offer wi-fi, as well as free tea of any kind with the buffet. Service was very good. I will come back here again, since I'm less than a mile from the restaurant. read more

I am adding a star to Chan's Buffet. I really love the garlic green beans at Chan's Buffet. They are to die for. Their vegetable lo-mein too. Oh YUM! I live in Chicago and every Chinese take-out joint uses spaghetti noodles, not wheat flour noodles like Chan's Buffet does. There's egg drop soup, a decent salad bar, fresh fruit, and enough dessert to pack on the calories. I don't go hungry here. My boyfriend's family eats incredibly well here too. They love the seafood, especially the shrimp, crab legs and the chicken dishes. They rave about the green beans too. It's their favorite place for unlimited Chinese food in Port Huron. The wontons and dumplings are generously filled. The hot n sour soup is nice and tangy with generous amounts of tofu and mushrooms. Egg drop soup is nicely thick and flavorful with a nice glossy look. Rangoon is sooo good with lots of filling! The dumplings and stuffed mushrooms could be warmer though. read more

Food is good for a local Chinese buffet since considering its the only one now. Theres a handful of things i love for example i love the stuffed mushrooms and clams. Ragoons are a little sweet for my taste. Wantons are solid and crab bake is pretty good. Couple things make me turned off a bit though is the atmophere. Its pretty dated looking and the staff seems very idk what the word is ...... Uptight i guess. They all seem quite and upset most the time. I think it may be a management problem cause no one seems happy to be there. And i question how long the massive desert selection has been out for cause not many people eat it. Been coming here for years just want to see this bussiness thrive cause it could have alot of potential. read more

I have been to Chan's a couple of times. Last night I stopped in before I went grocery shopping. The food was hot and fresh this time. As with any buffet you want to go when they are busy to get the best food. Chan's does crab several ways. I like it best. The green beans are really good too, not salty. Walked in the front door but left on a stretcher in the company of paramedics, with a piece of their dry undigestable food stuck in my throat. (What didn't get stuck when right thru me and made me throw up, food poisoning). No, you shouldn't wolf your food and try to swallow it whole. But I figured out WHY, in this place, the wolfing of food and swallowing of it whole are encouraged. They watch you and, just as sure as the day is long, once you've filled your second plate there they are with the check and the fortune cookies. I just moved to Port Huron from Macomb Twp. and glad I found Chan's Buffet. Macomb County has some fantastic Chinese restaurant but the food at Chan's Buffet is very good and the variety of soups is excellent. Hostess is helpful and nice but they watch over you like a hawk. Let us eat without any of the restaurant waitresses or hostess staring at our table. It's in a good location with plenty of nearby parking. I spoke with a neighbor who used to eat here but now frequents somewhere else because she felt threatened. Uneasy atmosphere. But the food is good with a nice variety. read more
