You'll find a few dining tables on the small outside deck and limited seating inside. It has the feel of a double wide trailer turned into a restaurant. What we enjoyed: *Fried shrimp and oysters were good *Gumbo was delicious *Crab cake was good but I thought the accompanying cheese sauce wasn't needed. Some reviewers love it and so does our fishing guide. The white cheese sauce seems more more like a Queso cheese dip at your local Mexican restaurant. What we didn't care for: *Toasted sandwich bread served with the shrimp/oysters *The side of fries *The foul mouthed employees. I agree with reviewer Holly B on this one.

I ordered the grilled shrimp platter, and it says something when the bagged salad was the best thing I ate. The shrimp were cold and way too overseasoned/salty and the fries were cold and bland. We were heading to the Southern most point on the Gulf and stopped herefor lunch. It's a small space but what it lacks in space it makes up for in personality. I could tell that this was a well loved spot as we got some tourist "looks' when we entered (I guess they could tell we were not regulars :)). That was even before our "east coast accents" gave us away. The menu is not vast but if you are coming here - the thing to order is seafood. I mean it's a no brainer! The food is not fancy but good and exactly what I needed. As you can tell the shrimp were HUGE and the onion ring were homemade - what more can a girl ask for! They do have specials but I only had eyes for the shrimp patter. There not many restaurants in the area so if you are hungry and have a hankering for seafood - check this place out.

Mine, the fish was delicious with fresh fish and "the works" on a tasty bun. The shift shell crab, I was told was tasty but the shell wasn't crispy--more tough and difficult to bite through. This restaurant has mixed reviews but we found it wonderful! The restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated for Christmas! We started off with 3 Happy Hour Appetizers which were all good but our favorite was the spinach dip with pasta bow ties chips! So yummy! I couldn't decide which drink to start with when one of the bartenders said she had just created a Mardi Gras "New Fashioned" and made it a Christmas drink with icing and sprinkles. Wow!!!! It was delicious! I went on to have the Christmas Cookie martini which was also delicious and a Grinch Mimosa which was good as well. My friends got the Christmas margarita, the Crème brûlée margarita, eggnog martini and cinnamon White Russian. All were amazing! We actually like all of the drinks better than the ones we had at 2 Holiday pop ups! For entrees we had the Cypress burger which was cooked on point, juicy and flavorful along with cups of gumbo and a salad. All of the food was really good. We had a bonus of being there on Trivia night and had so much fun! The staff along with some of the regulars were extremely friendly and helpful. We all agreed we would be back.

I love the ambiance whether I'm sitting at the bar or at a table, and they also have outdoor seating if you'd rather be outside. The staff is always friendly and welcoming too, which makes me want to keep coming back. This time, my friend and I started with the shrimp ceviche, and it was SO good! It was really well seasoned and had plenty of jalapeño slices throughout, so you get a nice little kick. But what really made it for me was all the avocado! There were several generous slices mixed in, and the creamy avocado went so well with the ceviche. And of course, the chips were good too. For my cocktail, I ordered the Hendrick's Lamar, which is made with Hendrick's Gin and elderflower. I've had this one before, so I already knew I liked it. It's really good! I also love the way they serve it. There's a cute little flower clipped to the glass with a tiny miniature clothespin. It's such a small detail, but it makes the drink feel extra special. We also ordered the lobster roll with French fries, and let me tell you... it was GOOD! Unfortunately, we started eating and I completely forgot to take a picture. I guess we were too busy enjoying it! Sometimes the best food is the food you forget to photograph because you're already halfway through it. And I have to give a little love to the bathroom too. It's very well maintained and has this nice, slightly dark ambiance that I actually really like. The brass/gold-looking sink and faucet add a pretty touch, and I LOVE the thick, personalized monogrammed napkins with the restaurant's name on them for drying your hands. It's those little details that I notice. Overall, Pigeon & Whale continues to be a place I enjoy coming back to. Good food, good cocktails, friendly people, a nice atmosphere, and those little touches that make the experience feel thoughtful. Whether I'm meeting a friend for drinks, grabbing something to eat, or just sitting at the bar, it's always a good time.I think this version sounds more like an actual person sharing their experience on Yelp and less like a formal restaurant write-up.

We had no idea how right we were. The island was almost empty and the only people we encountered were state troopers sitting on the side waiting for some speeders. Further down into the island we had almost given up on the idea to have a "real" shrimp meal and turned around. Since it was time for a "natural" break we stopped at several places but they were all closed - except for one. When we drove on the parking lot a lady came out waving at us and asking us to come in. It was in fact the ONLY place that was opened selling beverages on Christmas Day. However, food was provided for free by the residents that came together to celebrate Christmas and they invited us to join them for their Christmas meal. We had ham and turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing among many other things. What a great experience. Everyone was so friendly and kind that even the 90 minute trip to and from N'awlins was worth every minute. Thank you!
