We didn't learn about Vieux Carre' until our last night in New Orleans - big mistake, because we…read morehad been dropping money for mediocre bottles of wine from Walgreens and CVS for premium costs. We picked up a bottle of rosé and picked up some complimentary plastic cups for them. The prices are reasonable and the selection is aplenty. There's also a nice liquor selection, although we had just come in looking for wine. It was tempting. A lot of reviews reference making your own drinks here. This didn't happen for us - but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it existed. I'll have to take a closer look when I'm back. Next time I'm in town in the French Quarter (next week...), I'll be sure to stock up on my alcohol needs here! Don't be surprised to see me here in the next 7-8 days...

In all honestly, this is a three star beer, wine, and liquor store. It's fine. You probably have a…read moreplace like this in your town. Small and dated. Nice people. Reasonable selection, all things considered. It earns that bonus star by having several choices of regional beers sold by the can and chilled for $2.50. Even if you couldn't pour it into a cup and walk around the quarter with your beer, that's still a pretty good deal. Also, I was delighted they sold Herbsaint in small 200ml bottles. I'll confess to bringing my bottle back to the hotel, putting some in a plastic cup with an appropriate volume of water, and using that as my walking around town drink. Infinitely better (and more authentically NOLA) than the frozen slop that gets you sloppy. Anyhow, I'm sure to return to pick up some beverages whenever I'm back in town. It's a recommended stop for sure. Good stuff. Convenient location. Zero pretense.

The only reason I can't give them five stars because they didn't have a great gin selection (which…read moreis what I was after). Otherwise this is a fine little store. I talked to the guy and he said he doesn't stock much gin because it doesn't move - the locals drink other things. Understandable. He was very friendly and we talked for a bit about gin and various things. Overall I had a nice experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back (unless I need fancy gin lol!)

Come on man! Despite the laws that seem strange to me, I am a rule follower, so off to the liquor store I go. The Liquor Cabinet is located off of Hwy 90 in the back of a strip mall. Do not let the appearance of the strip mall prevent you from visiting. This is a very nice place. My visits here were originally to purchase red wine. The staff were always up to offer suggestions and those worked out well. Lately I have been trying to become a fancy shmancy dude so I have started venturing into Bourbon. The selection of Bourbon here is good to very good. Prices are very competitive and I ended up with a bottle of Bulleit 10 year on my most recent visit. One thing I really like about this shop is the way they list their prices on the liquor. The part of the shelf that faces the customers is a chalk board. Prices are kept up to date and handwritten in chalk. I do not know why I really like this, but I do. That feature coupled with the fact that customers cant just walk up and grab a bottle (the shelves are separated from the sales floor by a counter) gives this place an old school vibe that I really appreciate. Another thing I really like about here is that it is a family run business. Not only is it a family running it, but they make you feel like family even when it is your first visit. I'm a fan.

Stopped in for a slightly late lunch this past week along with my wife during our coupla days off…read morework. Took an Uber there, as that's probably the best strategy for visiting anything in the Marigny or Bywater neighborhoods. Basically, it's an eclectic old house with a cool backyard dining area with the kinds of chairs you remember from elementary school. Local guitarist was playing a set for diners that afternoon on the stage. Front of the house full of different wines and the guy behind the counter was nice enough to suggest a good pairing with what we ordered to eat. My grilled pork chop with balsamic reduction was excellent. The perfect cut for such a dish. My wife loved her orechiette pasta and appetizer plate of olives. The white wine suggested to us was cold and refreshing. Everything matched well and the umbrella tables were clutch in the sun and heat of early summer. Hope to make it back for my next vacay

We walked in and…read moreimmediately into a little wine shop, which was super cute and the woman working up front was so nice. So far we're off to a great start. Then we walked into the courtyard which was packed (so like people must love this place i get it). There was finally an open table and we had been waiting for a spot so when the people at a table started getting up, I was literally milliseconds away from sitting down. Enter: an older woman who apparently had been training for the Table Olympics her entire life. She basically TRAMPLED me, threw all her stuff on the table and goes, "Sorry, this is taken." OKAY GRANDMA YOU WIN. I don't want it anymore. She clearly deserved it way more than I did. Absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant, but at this point my evening had already gotten off to a weird start. We headed upstairs to the bar where there were two open seats. There were four of us so two sat and two stood which was fine. Unfortunately, the bartender acted like our presence was personally offensive. We felt so awkward and unwelcome the entire time. BUT...the bread? AMAZING. Carb Queen here. And the bacon wrapped dates were also seriously good. (I loved them so much I have been making them at home, like who would of thought). So I'm torn. The food we had was great, but overall the experience just wasn't what I was hoping for after wanting to come here for so long. Maybe we caught it on an off night because I really do want to give it another shot.
