According to our fishing guide, Jimmy, this is a hot spot for dining in the Port Sulphur area. I give this restaurant a 3.5. We stopped in here late one afternoon to give it a try. You'll find a few dining tables on the small outside deck and limited seating inside. It has the feel of a double wide trailer turned into a restaurant. What we enjoyed: *Fried shrimp and oysters were good *Gumbo was delicious *Crab cake was good but I thought the accompanying cheese sauce wasn't needed. Some reviewers love it and so does our fishing guide. The white cheese sauce seems more more like a Queso cheese dip at your local Mexican restaurant. What we didn't care for: *Toasted sandwich bread served with the shrimp/oysters *The side of fries *The foul mouthed employees. I agree with reviewer Holly B on this one. read more

We visited this place during a fishing trip to Port Sulphur. We were not disappointed. All of our food was outstanding and the service was great too. Owner/cook greeted our table and they made sure we were pleased with everything. I had the royal red special. Perfectly cook shrimp with a garlic butter sauce drizzled over them. Messy and oh so good. Everything was great. Stop by this whole in wall joint and enjoy a great treat. Thanks for being open for us. read more

Great food and nice folks. It's hard to find good food way down the road and this is a bright spot. The fried oysters and gumbo were great, as were the chili fries. You can tell they change the fry grease often as the breading was all very light and crisp, that's rare. Also if white mike is at the bar when you get in, introduce yourself, he is a cool cat. Be prepared to talk about fishing. read more

My co-workers told me I had to try this place, and WOW... nothing like I have ever had before. The bread is so crisp yet fluffy soft their po-boys melt in your mouth. Their seafood is some of the freshest I have ever had and prepared with love, and the staff are ready with a smile! The owner is fantastic and ready with whatever you need, even if it's not on the menu! You have GOT to try this place. It is worth any effort! read more

I never write these reviews but I just have to leave one for Thompson's Kitchen. My boyfriend and I came in without any expectations - we were just driving down to the bayou for the day - and we left feeling like royalty, well fed and totally satisfied. Alex had the catfish poboy and I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Not only were both of our dishes fresh and delicious but the owner topped off our experience by treating us to the best crab cake appetizer I have had in my entire life. The staff was so kind and funny. We regretted not ordering more seafood, but we will be back very soon for the food and the company! read more

We were returning from fishing in Venice and decided to stop here for lunch. We ordered the shrimp poboy, oyster poboy, and sweet potato fries. Although they said it may be a while, in 20 minutes we had our food. It was delicious. The seafood was fried perfectly. There were several locals eating here for lunch as well. Decided to travel to Southern most point in LA, also wanted lunch. Very, very slim pickings, but found this little place and had an excellent lunch. Definitely a locals place. This place is down in south Plaquemines Parish and it is a hole in the wall. I've driven past it many times and never noticed it. I had a catfish platter and it was delicious. It's a small quaint place. read more

After we drove by and saw a busy parking lot (still plenty of parking) l had to look Thompson's up. The reviews from multiple sites were great and boy were they correct! I had the beef steak and fries and my boyfriend had the special of red beans and rice with a fried pork chop. Everything was great but the red beans and rice were so good I took some to go. Service was fantastic, our server had a great personality and I think the owner was there and did a table visit to make sure we were enjoying our meal. We were too full to have dessert but they have soft serve ice cream! Next time. The restaurant was very clean and homey with a really cool bar that I will probably sit at when we go again, hopefully soon. read more
