To Chanel SCP: Please train your employees to be pleasant with customers and to ensure shipping & billing details are spelled CORRECTLY, because you just gave me a day's worth of anxiety for no good reason.
I had such a anxious experience with Chanel this past week.
1. I went into Chanel SCP knowing what shoe & size I wanted to buy.
2. They didn't have the size I needed in stock, so they recommended to ship it home (Chanel does not ship to store anymore). Since Chanel requires a signature upon delivery, I shipped it to my work office (literally 200 feet from SCP). I have never had any issues shipping important documents or packages to my office, and nothing ever gets lost or stolen.
3. They gave me a slip to fill out my shipping & billing information. In shipping, I wrote my name and my office address (obviously). I used my boyfriend's card to pay for the shoes, so his name and billing address went in the billing address section (obviously). They also took an imprint of his credit card to store. I put my email address, my phone number, and my name as the main point of contact should any questions arise. They did not give me a paper receipt, as the card will be charged upon shipment. An electronic receipt would be emailed to the email provided.
4. Around 7 hours later, a random associate from Chanel I never interacted with texts me saying the shoe size is unavailable, but another width of the same size is available at a different Chanel location. She was so unclear with her words that it took us a few back and forth messages to understand that I was still able to receive the same size but in a different width (which would be fine).
5. I asked for an electronic receipt, as my boyfriend's credit card got charged. She said the electronic receipt has already been sent to the email I provided--I did not receive anything. I asked which email she sent it to, and she gave me my email with TWO LETTERS MISSPELLED. My penmanship is incredibly legible, and she misspelled O for a D, even though there was another O elsewhere in the slip that looked exactly like it (and she spelled that correctly). So she took a picture of the receipt at Chanel texted it to me.
6. On the paper receipt she took a photo of--surprise--another mispelling! First, the receipt was for my boyfriend, whose name was at the top of the receipt, MISSPELLED AGAIN even though she had a credit card imprint of the EXACT SAME NAME in front of her. It is not difficult to double check your client's name to ensure you have the correct spelling. It's NOT that hard.
7. Great, the shoes shipped and were going to arrive at my office Tuesday morning. Yay! While checking the status of my package at 10:05AM, the Fedex page said it had delivered at 10am and signed by a J.GRANT.
8. Oh no, I don't know a JGRANT at this office, and my receptionist said a package hadn't come in for me. Apparently sometimes packages get sent mistakenly across the street because we have the same unit number, so I walked over to ask--not there! I asked the office management building to do a search of anyone with the last name Grant--no one there! Panic began to rise, these are some expensive ass shoes, and someone had signed for them. I'm OBVIOUSLY going to panic. I contacted Fedex for 3 hours to figure out where my package went & they ended up making a trace case to find it (after 3 hours of speaking to them).
9. I received a call 5 hours later saying my package would be delivered the next day, and that the reason why I didn't receive my package is because IT WAS SHIPPED WITH MY BOYFRIEND'S NAME, and NOT MY NAME. My receptionist does not accept packages of people who do not work in this building, for OBVIOUS reasons, so it makes sense that she rejected it. This made me so angry--what is the point of having a section for billing & a section for shipping, if you're going to flip flop the names? He had a different address in his billing, and yet his name came to the shipment address under my name.
None of this was Fedex's fault, because they had been given the wrong name to begin with. Chanel had given me 10 hours of anxiety, just because they couldn't double check the name of the billing & shipping details.
You bet I'm writing this to corporate & also phoning in to discuss with their store manager. I'm not expecting anything from it, but it's an issue to raise if I'm receiving poorer customer service than Amazon, Fedex, Cox, AT&T, and other platforms notorious for wishy-washy customer service.
This is Chanel. I'm not buying $50 shoes, I'm buying $1500 shoes. I expect a much higher bar to be set for this brand's employees because it is a brand that I respect and love to wear. So please reflect that in your customer service, and ensure that your employees are capable and competent to be able to read & transfer correct information. It isn't that difficult. read more
