A few weeks ago I was stair climbing and past this guy a few times that had a great smelling cologne on. Stopped to chat with him and he was from France and told me that his wife loves "Jersey" from Chanel. He said this exclusive scent is only sold in Chanel Stores. Stopped by SCP Chanel to give it a sample shot. You are not free to browse this store. You have to check in when when you enter and indicate what your business in the store is. Then I was assigned a sales agent for the cologne department that escorted me to the Jersey Cologne. He was fine. He sprayed some on some paper and then I asked if I can just dab a bit behind the ears and wrist. He was okay with that. I let it soak in the next couple of hours. Did not get a chance to anyone else what they thought of the scent but I did not really like what it smelled like on me. I am wondering if that guy gave me the right name or it just smells different on me than him, but I just did not care for it. It cost $500 for the large bottle and $400 for the smaller bottle so expensive stuff. At that price range it has to be perfect. It was December. I waited in line for about 10-15 minutes to get in. I have wanted a Chanel purse for over 10 years maybe 20....but I could never bring myself to buy one. I love the simple almost tom boy-ish style. I thought I should buy one in Hawaii bc tax is less or Japan bc the exchange rate there is insane - but it still the same price in Japan regardless. I finally got the ok from hubby to get the No. 25 but got convinced I needed the Classic instead for almost double the price. I was intrigued by the history told by the associate. There are hidden pockets for cash tips and letters from Coco's lovers. Afterwards, I was compelled to read her history. I love how Coco started from humble beginnings, was self-made, and a strong business woman. People were having champagne all around us so we asked for a glass and purchased Classic medium. After taking it home, I realized it's a lot smaller than it looks and is pretty much the size of a cocktail purse. We bought around Xmas and I'm not sure if the policy is different during other seasons, but it was less than 30 days. I brought it back with the receipt and was able to return it without a problem. Unfortunately the bag I want is on a waiting list. At first I was told one month, now I'm told 2-3 months. We also had our email on the account wrong and tried to call and contact them via the website to fix it but nobody ever got back. Supposedly, they corrected the email address at the store when we returned the purse. We did get our money back within 1-2 days. But I'm not sure I'll ever get my purse. Crazy how it's like this. Leaving a 1 star review because we witnessed a SA in the handbag area sneak in a video/photo (they held up their phone for a while) of a customer in the dark blue sofa sitting area. The guest was a man wearing a wig and a pink dress. So yes a cross dresser, but big whoop this is California! The guest wasn't making a scene and was obviously a serious buyer in the middle of shopping a lot of products as their SA was bringing out tray after tray of items. What's shocking was the SA that snuck in the photo was in the middle of helping another customer that was waiting at the counter . So her itch to document the other customer was so great, she took the time to do this mid-guest lol Anyway, hopefully you guys don't get this lady. They had to check the bag and if there was any smudge's or finger prints they'd have to check first if it was ok to return which is stressful! My daughter bought me some Chanel number five from this store and when I went back to exchange it for the chance perfume, I was told that I couldn't exchange it although I had the receipts for it. They wouldn't exchange it for me because it was over 14 days. It was unopened and it's original package with the receipt and they refuse to return it. I understand a return policy for items that are out of season but for perfume that has been the same formula for over 100 years and they refuse to exchange it for me. It doesn't make sense, the Customer service was extremely rude and even though I had the receipt they acted like I was stealing something from them, which clearly was not true true. I would recommend that you do not come to this store or Chanel in general if that's their policy. read more

I came to Chanel at South Coast Plaza and I usually always look around. Back in May, I got matched with Holly Atia and she was the kindest, most helpful sales associate anyone could ask for! I told her what I wanted, and she gave me her business card and told me to text her every week so she keeps an eye out for the product I want. I texted her every week once for a while and recently she let me know that Chanel had the bag I wanted. I finally got my Chanel classic mini in black with gold hardware :') I have been wanting this bag for a while & absolutely loved it. This boutique is also so clean, all the workers are super nice including the person outside who lets people in. I'd recommend getting an appointment before coming to avoid waiting. This Chanel store is located in the South Coast Plaza. They have an orderly electronic line system where you check-in at the door and they text you when they're ready for you to come in. They have a great selection of bags in stock here, arguably better than the store on Rodeo. Neil the advisor did a fabulous job helping Kate Y choose the perfect hobo bag a few months back. He wasn't pushy at all and was more than happy to patiently show us every variation on the bag they had in stock. Super friendly and professional. The ULTRA cool gal told me that "this is the way it is and you will know when your card is charged". My fine jewelry, handbag, and earrings have held up beautifully for so many years. I still feel like Chanel treats me really well any time I come in to clean my jewelry or to shop around. I have two earrings from their costume jewelry collection and they still look great even though it is not real gold. My real gold on the other hand, still looks brand new and I wear them a few times every week for hours. I've owned them for so many years now. When I first met Alicia, she was very quiet and don't even say hello. I let it slide thinking she was new and maybe shy. When I told her exactly what I was looking for, she told me that they did not have the purse in stock. She took down phone number and said she would text me when they received a shipment. I followed up with Alicia twice during the wait, and she informed that that they had just received the exact purse I was waiting for. She got manager approval to hold for a couple of hours, and I told her I would leave my house in the next 20 minutes. I live in Irvine, so it took me about 40 minutes to get to the store since it was 3pm and traffic is no joke. When I arrived, Alicia was on her lunch so I asked so see whoever was available. Alicia showed up when I was inspecting the purse. She then proceeds to ask me why I didn't show up for my 3pm appointment. I was a bit surprised at her tone and accusation when no such appointment had been made. After discussing our text message conversation, she looked back and realized that I had said I was leaving in 20 minutes (text sent at 2:40pm) not that I would be there in 20 minutes. Her attitude quickly changed and became friendly. This isn't my first Chanel purchase and I had a great experience in the SF boutique, so I was expecting the same type of friendliness, especially since I was about to drop some serious cash for a purse. I've read so many mixed reviews prior to coming here but decided to take a chance anyway since it was the closest boutique in Orange County. Came here when the covid restrictions were lifted but given the intimate experience they still required all guests to wait in line and to wear masks. Despite coming on a Monday afternoon, the wait was around 20 minutes which is allegedly not a long time. Upon finally entering, one of the sales associates escorted us to the wall with sunglasses. She did try to offer her opinion but completely missed the mark whenever I kept saying that the purchase was not for me but for my mother and that she preferred a minimalistic look. I understand that the namesake is what drives people into this boutique but I would argue that it's just as important to understand your client's needs in order to maximize sales. We barely spoke to our SA and even throughout the entire transaction we never even knew her name until we looked at the receipt after we paid. I would have loved a better guest interaction experience and it would have been great to have built a rapport with our SA as I did have an intention to return for the boy bag at some point in the year. Given my experience, I'm certain that I will still remain a client but will likely make my purchases in Las Vegas where the atmosphere is completely different and the SAs make your business feel valued. My first in-store Chanel experience was amazing, and I'm so glad I got paired up with Vanessa-- she was such a gem! There were a few things I wanted to see/try on before deciding on a woc and Vanessa was very friendly, patient, and helpful. She made the whole experience enjoyable. However, I'm knocking one star because not everyone there is like Vanessa. I came back the next day to do an exchange for the same item because I noticed a defect on my purchased woc after I got home. I don't remember his name, but the guy that helped me was rude. He was not helpful, friendly and just didn't even seem like he wanted to be there. I ended up just leaving because he was basically all the bad things other reviews have said on here. That's not how a customer should be treated. Anyway, I gave myself an extra day to calm down and went back AGAIN to see if they had my same woc available so that I could exchange. I was helped by Jenny (I think that's her name?) and she was just as helpful and friendly as Vanessa. Even though it was just an exchange, she didn't treat me like crap. When I showed Jenny the defective woc, she got an approval from her manager, and also made sure to check for any defects before bringing out the new woc to me. She said I was the first person to notice the defect-- the corners on the woc were lifted. I appreciated her help and it totally made my day! read more

I had the pleasure to have Gigi as my SA and let me tell you ... as long as you know what you want, you'll be definitely in and out of there! Only downside right now is due to the boutique being closed for so long not all selections you see online will be available. What you can do is place an order and between 3-5 business days your order can be shipped to your home (of course with a delivery signature) No more water and champagnes are served at this fine :) but overall AWESOME for me! read more

So 4 stars because I had a 5 star second visit but a zero star first visit because, like many others, I showed up (not on a weekend where they take walk ins) and was told that I couldn't enter the store because it was appointment only. I had no idea since I hadn't been to this store since before Covid. Louis Vuitton, Gucci you don't need appointments but here at Chanel you do during the week. The hard part is when you go on the Chanel website it is not user friendly how to make an appointment: Basically you choose the location: Costa Mesa, CA and then scroll all the way down to make a fashion appointment (even if it's just handbag you want to buy you still have to make a fashion appointment) and my appointment was 2 weeks out from when I wanted to go. Oh well not anything I could do unfortunately. When I did go back on my appointment day/time I had Michelle as my sales assistant and she was outstanding and I got a gorgeous handbag and was treated very nicely (despite me not dressing up nicely or anything - I came after a pilates class) - but I do agree with the other yelper: the young man security guard on the outside is very judgey and unjustifiably snobby which I find ironic considering he's not being paid the big bucks to stand outside there he shouldn't have this holier than thou attitude. But once inside everyone was super nice and I had a wonderful experience so my tip is to make an appointment and just ignore the front door guy. read more

South coast plaza is one of the best malls with luxury stores, and Chanel did not disappoint. Although, I did have to wait in line to get in, it went by quickly. My SA was grace and she was wonderful. I told her I wanted to look at the sneakers and tried on two different ones. Once I decided which ones I wanted I asked her about the story behind the collection. She was very knowledgeable and also mentioned how often they get a new collection in store. She wrapped my purchase beautifully and even sealed my experience with providing me with some samples of fragrance and body cream.
