Odd as this sounds, I REALLY LIKE Dr. Chandler. I went to him twice. However you have to see his assistant first, jump through the hoops of testing and selecting the correct strength for contacts or glasses. I am 66 years old, with extremely bad eyesight. I KNOW how to look at a chart. I KNOW what my corrected vision should look like. This woman was rude, condescending and impatient. The first time I went there, I brought 2 pair of glasses so that she could start with them, she wasn't interested in the oldest pair, the pair where my far vision was best. She only went off the newer (wrong)strength. (long story) So when she dialed in that strength for testing, she didn't vary it enough to get a good result. Consequently, the NEW glasses from Dr. Chandler were still bad!
I returned for a 2nd visit, again, bringing not only my old glasses (again), but 4 years of copies of my prescriptions. Again, she thought she knew more about my vision than I. She went by the notes in her chart - not the strength of my old glasses. She asked what the problem was, then cut me off as I was explaining. "Well, we won't solve this by talking!" (But she asked!) Again dialing in the wrong strength. Again refusing to look at my old (good) glasses. She didn't vary the strength enough for me to see a difference. I was becoming so frustrated between "1" and "2" when there was no discernible difference. Instead of letting me TRY to see a difference between strengths, she said, "Well, just pick one." She finally stated, "Your vision is bad because of your cataract." As if SHE was the Ophthalmologist. Then she left the room, when she returned, I had my old glasses on, covered one eye & read the chart perfectly! ONLY THEN DID SHE LOOK AT MY OLD GLASSES AND DIAL IN THE CORRECT STRENGTH!
As I said, Dr. Chandler is a fine doctor, his assistant is a detriment to his practice.
We could have avoided a return visit, and so much frustration if only she listened to her patients. If only she wasn't so impatient. Or perhaps burned out. read more
