They require hand sanitizer upon entry. The second round of beverage took a long time to get ordered, but once we told her to keep them coming, she did keep them coming. Staff didn't clear any plates or glasses but other tables were cleared so probably not covid related. Love the patio and live music so it makes up for a lot of other short comings. Honestly I like champps, but tonight I had a bad experience. I ordered to go and got my favorite, the ahi tuna salad that I almost always get, then a bourbon Wagyu burger with waffle fries. When I got home I noticed there was no pickles on the side nor seasoned sour cream which was paid for. I didn't pay too much attention to it though. Then I ate a waffle fry. It was cold and tasted like it was sitting out for an hour or 2.. then tasted the salad and the tuna was so fishy and gross. I've had this many times and it's never tasted like that. It ruined the whole $20 salad. The tomatoes in the salad were not even fresh. On our most recent visit we noticed that they have repositioned themselves as Champps Ale House (guess everyone wants to be a brew pub now a days). On the Sunday we visited for lunch, the place was pretty quiet but hey, it's summer in Minnesota so most everyone is up at the lake. The menu has been streamlined and there are several new things on the list. I tried the Fajita Chicken Tacos-3 large flour tortillas with grilled chicken, green chili salsa and a sprinkling of cheese. The came with a side of crispy chips and and small dish of salsa (I had to ask for more). They were mildly spicy and quite tasty. Something I'd definitely order again. Another in our group had the BBQ chicken salad which while still large, was also fresh and good. The other two ordered the buffalo wings (pretty spicy) but big and meaty and the chicken tenders dinner which was quite large with about 6 large breaded tenders and you can choose two sides. I echo a lot of the other points others have made. The restaurant is in a weird location, which means it's rarely busy. Service was friendly, but food took forever to come out. Burgers were overpriced and were also cold when they arrived. Table was dirty and, on a whole, the dining room needs some TLC. Go elsewhere. read more

Eh, there are a lot of sports bars in the area and I thought the prices were pretty high for the quality of the bar food and service that was offered at this location. For the most part it was pretty standard. One nice thing is that it is a pretty big place so it wasn't hard finding a table to watch the Vikings. I wanted there to be better/more specials during a Viking football game then what there was, it left the menu lacking that local home town tram vibe and comraderie that you get a some pretty lively sports bars. It wasn't terrible but wasn't the best bang for my buck. read more

I will post pictures above of the mock hanging I will describe below. Last night I went to champps with 2 coworkers. We sat at the bar. There were 3 bartenders - an older gentleman with longer hair - seemed like the boss and oblivious to his surroundings, a nice young lady, and a tall African American gentleman with a scruffy beard. To start the night, the younger guy stubbed his toe and continued to drop f bombs, at loud decibels. Repeatedly. He kept throwing plates into the dish bucket and the noises were ear piercing...in a bad way. This was upsetting the head bartender as well, but he continued doing it. He was talking about "deer piss" right next to us as we were trying to eat. We made a comment at this point, which he fired right back disrespectfully. I asked for broccoli instead of fries with my entree. I got fries. To top off the night, he wrapped his belt around his neck and pretended to hang himself for about 3 minutes. Long enough for me to take my phone out and snap 3 pictures before the girl realized I was taking pictures. She then told him to stop. In her defense, she looked incredibly annoyed by him the entire time we were there. This was, hands down, the worst service I have ever experienced. I will never go back to this location. read more

Made a reservation for 8 people on Open Table. Guess what - no table for 8, so they tried to jam us all in a table for 6. And since it was drizzling outside,they put the live band inside, which I'm not exaggerating was louder than a Motley Crue concert. Yeah, we immediately left and went across the street to Redstone, who quickly accommodated our large party and provided great service and good. I know this is a sports bar and expectations should be fairly low, but don't take reservations for 8 people if you can't provide a table for 8 and don't have a band that blows off the roof at 6 pm. read more

What I did not expect was to encounter 3 people at hostess station with looks that told me were we an inconvenience to them on June 11, 2022 late afternoon. The only greeting was "How many?" We felt like we were unwelcome. There were no 'hellos' or smiles. And, it seemed like asking to be seated outdoors was traumatic to the hostess, in such a way that it seemed she was saying. Two tables ordered after our table and got their food first. They ordered the same thing as we did but the waitress said fried chicken sandwich takes longer. It is taking longer because they fried the hell out of it. The waitress named Callie, limping her leg the whole time. Her leg is purple which I called work hazard. The reasons that I like this place: good food (I love the waffle fries with seasoned sour cream whether they are stand alone or with a burger). A great patio in the summer. I floated between two and three stars with this one. The first night I ate here with a colleague and it was ok, basic at best. I can't even remember what I ate because I was so unimpressed. I remember the drink I had though because it was rough. It was a very bitter mule that they tried to sweeten up but it didn't work. I felt the worse for my colleague who had the steak which was more like beef jerky. The second night I went with a large group from my company and this was so poorly planned on their part I felt sorry for them. We were squeezed into a small space, about 50 people, with one waitress! It was so bad some of our group started helping her and handed out drinks we waited 30 minuets for. You couldn't even get water. At some point we all just started leaving to go other places for dinner because they could not keep up with drinks let alone the appetizers. Again, the waitress did nothing wrong. It was completely the managers fault for giving her such a large group. I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 because some of the appetizers were really good, the atmosphere was fun with all the TV's and basically I feel like there is so much potential with the right planning. read more

A regular customer of this bar came in to the area we had reserved for our wedding party after we had issues with service, "defending" their favorite server. She started to cause problems and eventually put hands on a member of our group. The regular was eventually kicked out, but managements handling of this situation was beyond piss poor. If the servers have something to complain about with a group they're serving, have them bring it up with their supervisors, not with one of their drunken customers who uses it as a reason to go into a reserved area and picks fights. read more

I've been coming to champs for so long, and for the kids out there, the kids corn dogs are so good I don't even want to order something different. It's even more special for when you go on your birthday because they give an amazing ice cream sundae. I think it's amazing and I would go there any time of day. read more

This is a local gathering spot that is good for after work drinks. Crowd is active and fun. They have a special on Monday night burgers. During the summer they have a bands that play on the patio outside. Patio is alot of fun as it has an outdoor bar and a fireplace. Worth a try. read more

Met 2 employees here for lunch. Seated right away by Neil the General Manager. Really nice gentleman. Our waiter was quite friendly too. We ordered a short round of Gull Dam Hemp Pilsner beer. Cold and delicious. I had their new Kung Pao Chicken, with rice and vegetables. This was spicy, the way I like it, loaded with flavor. Large portion. No room for dessert. Today I drove 4 hours out of my way to be able to eat at one of the last remaining spots and it surely did not disappoint! Came here with work friends for happy hour on the patio, and while the appetizers were okay, the service was dismal. Our waiter was unhelpful and apathetic. When we asked for a happy menu (at happy hour, we were a table of 8) our waiter brought us one menu after a 15 minute wait. We had to ask for more. The patio surface is very uneven and our tables rocked back and forth a lot. The flatbreads, buffalo wings, and Brussels sprouts were all good, nothing amazing. The nachos were okay-- mostly chip, not a lot of toppings, and cheese in one corner of the mound. There weren't enough appetizer plates provided for the table and the ones that were did come were dirty. The rest arrived 35 minutes later. Our waiter occasionally bothered to check our drinks, and then forgot to bring them back after we ordered. Won't be coming back. read more

(estimated) winter glass change was to enhance profits, apparently wait staff are told to call them "glasses" and not "pints", I call them a "must-miss" or lying. Downsized food portions. No updates of appetizers for years. Notice smaller plates for entrees. Bland food service salsa, season-less chicken skewers, sinewburgers or gristleburgers are on Monday special. read more

2 stars because the food being tasty was the only thing that saved the experience. The service we received from Jen tonight was some of the worst i've had. We should up to watch the boxing match and right off the bat there was no service with a smile and it almost seemed like Jen was annoyed to be interacting with us. This was a common theme throughout the night, we sat and watched for around 2 and a half hours. During that time the server checked on us maybe once every 30-40 minutes and seemed annoyed when ordering more. She brought water to our table one time during our stay and it was after i had to ask her too. At the end of our stay it took here around 30 minutes to bring our checks and get us settled so we could leave. This was even more frustrating because when we looked around the restaurant it seemed like all of her other tables where getting great service, and all of the other servers were giving quality costumer service with a smile. really sad because i'm sure this could've been a 5 star experience with a server that made it seem like she cared at all. read more
