I recently had a complicated root canal redone at Champlain Dentistry. It was wonderful experience from the first phone call and talk with Judy and fast scheduling of complimentary XR appointment and consultation with Dr. Kalluri. I was scheduled for endodontist appointment in a week. FDS ladies worked with our dental insurance and estimated cost of appointment very fast, also offered payment plan. The appointment with Dr. Hamedy was very pleasant experience, he is all that he claims about himself and provides calmEd " state of the art" experience through him working on a root canal. My review is specifically about the financial department, not the dentists, assistants, hygienists, or front office staff. My interactions with the clinical team were positive. Unfortunately, my experience with the financial department was disappointing enough that I decided to seek care elsewhere. As a patient, I expect to be able to ask questions about my treatment plan, costs, and possible alternatives without feeling like I'm inconveniencing anyone. Instead, I felt that my questions were treated as though they were wasting someone's time. When I wanted to better understand my options or discuss alternative treatment plans, I was made to feel like asking questions were delaying the process rather than being a normal part of making an informed healthcare decision. What stood out the most was being told that if I wasn't going to proceed with the recommended treatment, I should let them know sooner so they wouldn't "waste their time." That comment was disappointing and came across as dismissive and lacking empathy. Patients are making important medical and financial decisions, and asking questions before committing to treatment should never be viewed as an inconvenience. I was also given conflicting information regarding payment options. One member of the financial department told me I could move forward with $200 down and six monthly payments. Later, another financial representative told me that was no longer an option and that I would instead have to pay $600 down with only four monthly payments, even though the revised treatment plan was only about $25 more than the original estimate. I was never given a clear explanation as to why the financing terms changed so drastically over such a small increase in cost. That inconsistency made it difficult to trust the information I was receiving. What made the experience even more disappointing was the lack of empathy. I explained that I am a full-time caregiver, which creates unique financial and scheduling challenges, and that I had been a patient of this office since 2024. In the past, the office had been willing to work with me, so I expected at least a conversation about possible options. Instead, I felt that my circumstances were brushed aside and that there was very little effort to understand my situation. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was simply asking to be heard and treated with the same patience and respect that any patient deserves. Patients have every right to ask as many questions as necessary before agreeing to treatment. We are the ones paying for these procedures, and informed consent requires understanding not only the treatment itself but also the financial commitment involved. Questions should be welcomed and answered with professionalism and respect--not treated as an inconvenience. Because of my experience with the financial department, I no longer felt comfortable moving forward with this office and have decided to continue my dental care elsewhere. I hope this feedback encourages the financial department to communicate more consistently and approach patients with greater patience, empathy, and respect. I gotta be honest and say that I should have trusted my gut before paying the 500 bucks for basically teeth cleaning with that BS laser antibacterial probe thingy that they say normally costs 800 bucks but the hygenist Isabell is able to 'negotiate' her price and knocled it down to 500 bucks. I know my Liberty Dental insurance absolutely sucks but damn. When I wasw a RN at CMC I had PP insurance and I remember crowns were never more than 300 bucks. These clowns are going to charge me 1200 bucks. I almost fell out of my chair. I felt like they were price gouging me. Im on a fixed icome and CANNOT afford these rates. He proceeded to say I needed premium dentures and refused to do the basic that my insurance covers. This dentist overcharges people. For a cleaning (With insurance), they wanted to charge over $600. Cleaning's do not cost that much at other dentists. I had one side of my mouth cleaned and it didn't even feel like they cleaned it good. They used a little laser and said it was a "deep cleaning". Do not waste your money here. BE AWARE! They wanted to charge me $900 for a "needed" partial deep cleaning due to "pockets" in my gums. I have seen 2 different dentists in the last 2 years (exams every 6 months) and never has any one of them required deep cleaning or even suggested it. Dr Duong and team are the best! I have had my teeth cleaned every 6 months, all of their hygienist do a great job explaining the different types of cleanings and procedures. My daughter had an appointment today and her father took her. After waiting an hour for her appointment when they showed up on time, they were constantly reassured they would be seen soon. Soon isn't an hour. After my daughter was taken back for her appointment her father went across the parking lot to the grocery store to grab groceries. They called me (her mother) to ask where he was. When I informed them that he was at the grocery store, the woman calling made a distasteful comment, "if my child was at an appointment I wouldn't just leave them there." Then proceeds to laugh as if her father was an inapt parent. I mentioned I didn't appreciate the commentary and explained that probably after the long wait he was trying to save time. Hello we are a military family moved to the area. We selected Champlain Dentistry it the area due to their close proximity to our residence. At the initial appointment we waited 30 mins to get seen and we arrived early. Then I had to complete online forms prior to being seen initially. Then once seen the dentist for 10 minutes only. On the same day I was billed and charged for service that was not fully completed and not billed or submitted to the dental insurance company yet. Overall, beware of initial payment at appointment before they submit to the claim to the dental insurance company or services actually completed. Never had my family and I had any issues with any dental office ever, until we came to Champlain Dentistry. They require to listen to the clients and patients needs and to resolve the ongoing issues. read more

I went in as a new patient, to get a cleaning exam and x-rays. They started by doing the x-rays which were quite extensive. I was then told I had severe gum, disease and needed thousands of dollars worth of treatment. I never had my teeth cleaned, and I never had an exam, I was so upset. I left and immediately called my insurance company and told them not to pay their claim, as I believe this is a scam. I have always had very good teeth and gums, I am 72 years old and never had a problem. I think this is big corporations taking over local dentist offices and making a business out of it instead of trying to help people. Some times their personnel are very sweet and courteous and sometimes they act as if they could throw you to the lions. The absolute worst dental office I've ever encountered. I waited 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment time to be taken back for x-rays. The tech reshot the x-rays multiple times because they didn't seem to be able to position the machine correctly. I waited an additional 10 minutes to be seen by a hygienist who then did a 3 minute exam, then waited more time to be seen by a dentist who did an even briefer exam. At the end of all this, I was told that the appointment was just for an exam and they could "try to see" if the hygienist had time to clean my teeth today. WTAF? The online appointment scheduler allows you to click on a box for a "cleaning/check-up", so the fact that a cleaning was not included in the appointment is dishonest and rude. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. read more

This is the place changing the stigma of dentistry! This office and everyone who works here genuinely cares about their patients. As a new patient to this office, they got me in for a check up and did my needed fillings/gum cleaning all in one day. They knew I lived an hour away and squeezed me in. The front desk explained and walked me through all the insurance options with incredible patience. They take time to explain options and processes to you and do rush or dismiss you. If I could give them less than one star I would. The staff was not professional in my opinion. All they do is to up-sell everything. I went in for e-rays and a cleaning. X-ray tech was fine. Hygienist came in and told me that I needed a deep cleaning and scaling of my teeth and that I had infection in my teeth. Cost for this was $580 I told her that I have never needed a deep cleaning (I always have my teeth cleaned every six months). I also told her that if I have infection in my teeth it means it is throughout my body and she just looked at me with an expression of "yes, probably". I told her that I only wanted a regular cleaning and she got indignant and said she would have to refer me out because they don't down scale their services. Then the "dentist" came in. He was also unprofessional in my opinion. He said I needed a filling on one tooth that he said I was brushing too hard. He actually grabbed my finger and pushed it up against my tooth to make me feel the area. I told him that I don't brush too hard and had an electric tooth brush that lit up to let me know if I was brushing too hard and he looked at me like I was crazy. I also told him the reason that more than a normal amount of tooth was exposed was because when I was in my early 20's I had a tooth removed from the bottom and didn't get a bridge right away so the top tooth was trying to compensate and fill in the gap. He again looked at me like I was crazy. They then, after giving me an estimate of the work said that the hygienist said she would reduce the cost of the cleaning to $200. I asked at the front desk how they could reduce the estimate like that and she said the hygienist could negotiate price. I have never heard of this. They told my husband that he had a hole in his tooth and it needed a crown to the tune of over $2,000. He had no pain with this tooth. I told him that they were just trying to rip him off. He had x-rays done at another dentist and the problem was a filling that had fallen out and needed to be replaced. $155. Needless to say, neither of us will be going back to Champlain Dentistry. read more

My appointment was at 8:30 but I was not seen until 9 o'clock. In addition, the front staff was incompetent and did not know how to do anything as well as the dentist assistant's. I sat in the chair for an hour before I was seen by a doctor. In addition to that, I was told I had 8 cavities, but after getting getting a second opinion I actually have none. My total bill for treatment would have been $900. However, after looking at my bill closer, unnecessary charges were added and treatment plans that were not needed were added to my bill. After discussing their mistake, my bill came down to 750. The front lady was very rude, and would not take no for an answer. The only reason this place gets a star is because hygienist Joelle. She was so sweet and helpful. However I would not go back to this place unless you have 3 hours of your life to kill then I would go here. read more

Biggest mistake of my life was transferring to this dental office. The initial visit was great; I was very impressed. However, things drastically went down hill from there. I was very disappointed! First of all there's a Christmas tree in the office and we are in July! The staff is not too friendly! But overall I received a exam by hygienist! He said I have deep pockets all over in between my teeth and I needed a deep cleaning asap with a bacterial rinse! Got a estimate on my way out and with my insurance it was 378$ each quadrant! 1600$ for the whole mouth! So I scheduled one 4 days later! My teeth always feel so refreshed after a cleaning (which aren't totally painless, mind you, but I can tolerate a little discomfort in exchange for the thoroughness). Many times in the past, my decision to pick a particular dental office would hinge on my compatibility (or lack thereof) with the hygienist. I was attended by Dr. Lopez and his assistant. Let me begin by saying I absolutely hate the dentist I've had horrible experiences my entire life. I trust no one but was in pain so I had no choice. I trusted my fellow Yelpers and ended up at Champlain Dentistry. As soon as I walked in I felt at ease. It turns out staying away from the dentist for so long means tons of tooth problems. I needed one of my molars fixed asap. The doctor gave me multiple options of what I could do. He was very informative and made me feel very comfortable. Long story short I decided to stay and have him fix the teeth that needed immediate attention. Even though the office closed at 5:00pm the doctor and his assistant stayed until 8:00pm. They never rushed and talked me through the entire process. I didn't feel any pain just very minimal discomfort. I was most impressed by their 3D printing machine that was able to create a perfect crown for my tooth. As many of you may already know it takes up to an entire week to get a crown made at many dentistries and if they make it wrong you have to wait another week. Initially everything SEEMED fine and no problems but they never emailed me my registration like they said they would and a week before my appointment they called stating they had to reschedule my time because they "double booked" me. Red flag #1. Mistakes happen so I rescheduled. Again, they said they would email me but never did. Fast forward to a few days before my appointment and I receive a call stating they need to reschedule AGAIN a month out! Stating the doctor is leaving early. My first experience here will be my last. There were three receptionists who couldn't figure out how to register me, even though I had completed the online registration well in advance of my appointment. I was charged $920 for a dental cleaning that took about 40 minutes and hurt every second of the procedure. The hygienist seemed to think it was my fault -- I was overly sensitive, he implied. Throughout the procedure, loud, boisterous music was blaring from the speakers so it was difficult to here the hygienist explain what he was doing. As a patient for three years I wanted to believe that this practice would work out their provider problems. I'll explain, every visit there was a new dentist. They were never able to developed a care plan. Because the dental hygienist was excellent and I saw him 3-4 times a year I was interested in seeing the practice have a dentist that I could depend on. Eventually I figured out that the business model was creating billable insurance codes. None of the dentists addressed questions I had about my care except for my last visit when I asked the dentist to look at a tooth that I was concerned about. He just looked at the tooth and then left the room so the office manager could talk to me about the cost of care. He gave me an estimate that included procedures that were not covered by my insurance. When I asked why these procedures were not covered he stated because the insurance considers them cosmetic. When I refused the uncovered costs the dentist determined I needed to see an orthodontist. At the visit to the orthodontist, I had additional panoramic X-rays when I had current x rays just done at my last visit. The orthodontist then looked at the tooth in question and explained that this tooth needed extraction. When I was again given an estimate of cost additional costs that my insurance didn't cover were included. I refused those and the orthodontist then said that he would have to refer me to an orthodontist group that could do this procedure and they would not take my insurance. Following these appointments I went on line to review the dr notes and billing information. These visits where I virtually had nothing more that conversations with the two dentists the bill was shocking high. I called Champlain Dentist, spoke to the business mgr and was told that all of the costs would be paid by insurance provider. I identified the items that were not provide that they were billing my insurance for and demanded they remove those from their claim. Eventually they did remove them from the claim. I still have my tooth that they claimed needed to be removed. It seems to be fine and I've found a new dental group. I still wonder what percent of their time is spent providing dental care vs milling up insurance claims read more

I saw Jonelle Mejia who is a registered dental hygienist and she was truly an expert in her field. She did mouth scaling and root planing on me and she let me hold the air suction because I told her how sensitive I was. I though that was pretty neat. Also, she spent a solid 20 minutes answering my questions and explaining the procedure, and the importance of preventative dental health. I am so impressed with this dental office, every single staff I have been greeted with has been respectful and kind. I told her how sensitive my teeth were, and she recommended a paste that neutralizes my mouth so it's not so acidic, which will keep my enamel strong and my sensitivity may decrease over time. She also recommended a mouth guard in case I grind my teeth at night which may also contribute to the sensitivity. There's still hope that I can eat ice cream one day! Today was the second and LAST time I will go to Champlain Dentistry! The first time they were running about fifteen minutes late and that is somewhat acceptable. Today I went in for a routine cleaning. My appointment was at 1:00 p.m. I arrived at 12:55 and was finally called at 1:20. I sat in the dentist chair until 1:45 p.m. and finally got up and went to the front counter to ask for my payment to be refunded. The receptionists acted as if this was a common practice as she promptly refunded my money and didn't really seem to be bothered by this at all. The worst hygienist. She does a terrible job cleaning teeth then tells you that you need a deep cleaning which of couse cost extra. I had a crown removed to fill a cavity and had a temp crown which was installed with the wrong cement and was extremely difficult to remove. When it was finally removed I was in great pain and had to be given additional numbing and when the permanent crown was installed I was in such pain additional numbing was necessary. The whole procedure took an hour and a half but should have been done in a half our.The original dentist I started with was no longer there for the installation of the permanent crown and the new dentist had limited experience. When I was finally done after suffering in pain for 90 minutes because they could not seem to get me numb I was told I might need root canal on the tooth Do yourself a favor and find a different dental office. I just moved to the area and needed to find a dentist. I'm not sure how I found Champlain but when I got there, it seemed really nice and professional, though it seemed like they wanted to talk money and my finances before they did anything else. My first visit was just fine although I was taken back by the crazy expensive services they said I needed. My second visit was for a cleaning. 1 hour and 45 minutes later I walked out. No one tried to explain what happened, no one called, no one emailed... so I figure they could care less. I'm new to the area so I guess my search for a new dentist will continue. On another note, they told me I need a TON of work... to the tune of over $5000. I go to the dentist faithfully every 6 months so why didn't my previously awesome dentist tell me any of this?
