Definitely should've checked the reviews before going here. Stopped in yesterday to buy something and was overcharged at least $10.. sold me a faulty item and refused to give me a replacement. Made up some sort of law about how they can't exchange faulty items since they're "just the middle man". I've been to plenty of stores that replace damaged items. Horrible liquor store. They charged me 17 for $13 Champagne. Be very careful using cards here - try to bring cash. Cashier didn't print out a receipt and whisked me away. Walked into the store with a friend who wore a headscarf and was rudely disrespected with glances and attitude. Great local liquor store located conveniently close to campus at the University of Michigan. Reasonable prices and a great selection to choose from. The owner proudly displays an Israeli flag in the window. He has taken some heat from so called social justice warriors on campus and refused to take it down. For that I salute him. I bought a bottle in support and I will return to this friendly and welcoming spot. For those who criticize him as spreading hate well you couldn't be more wrong. First of all he is Israeli why shouldn't he display his flag in his store? Second displaying the flag of a democracy is not hateful or racist. Let's not throw around loaded terms when there is no basis for it. Don't like the flag don't come in. There are quite a few liquor stores in town. The two negative reviews on Yelp sound like BS to me. The first review refers to "glances and attitude" so now subjective hate is the order of the day? Did the owner, a nice man, say anything or refuse to serve you because your friend had a head scarf? Of course not because your unsubstantiated allegations seem to be false and in your head. As for the refusal of service I doubt that too unless you came in to make a political statement and caused a scene. I can smell social justice warrior BS a mile away and the reviews by Sahar R. and Mohammed R. both seem inherently false and do not reflect the service I received and the friendly nature of the place. Great store! When I was visiting my cousin's campus in their neck of the woods and we needed some drinks and supplies for our get together this place had everything we needed! Plus even though we had been running late and it was about 15 minutes past closing time the owner still let us in to get what we needed! Seemed like a really nice guy. So when my cousin sent me a video of him getting harassed and slandered for having an opinion I had to weigh my two cents in from my experience with him to let people know the truth! read more

Beware - they overcharge you. They charged me sales tax at a higher amount than you are supposed to be charged, and on top of that they overcharged my credit card. No receipt was given, so I don't much to work with to argue what happened. Most of their customers are college students, so they probably assume that they don't have the habit of checking their statements or something like that - they think they can pull this off. If you really do buy from this place, pull out your phone and calculate exactly how much you should be paying (sales tax should be 6%), and pay with cash. Also count your change. read more

As an associate of the Phix vape and a connoisseur of the Juul and several alcohols, I can attest that Champion's is one of the premier overpricers of Liqour and tobacco related products in Ann Arbor. Not only are they generally rude to the clientele, but vapor pens are up to 3 times more expensive than they should be. Additionally, alcohols are upcharged with regards to their locale and the type of customers they receive. If you are a student in Ann Arbor, don't buy into Champion's. They only seek to make unfair profit off of retailed items in an incredibly unfair way. read more

I tend to shop here mostly for soda and other off-the-cuff items. But I think the place is great. Very convenient, close to the University (2 minute walk from central campus), and the staff is extremely friendly, polite, and considerate. The store is clean and well-organized. I haven't looked at all they have to offer, but it actually looks like a good place to pick up a lot of food stuffs and essentials. I encourage people to give this place business, as I think they contribute to the neighborhood in a very positive way. Check them out before you hit a chain store! read more
