Grossly high prices, no organization of their beer and everything was caked in dust and dirt. I'd never shop this store when in the AA area. They get a couple stars for having a decent beer selection, but every 6-pack was at least $12, whereas a normal price would be closer to $9. I could look past the inflated prices because of the locale, but I cannot unsee the filth on the bottles, candy, displays and floors. Gross! read more

A good selection of beer and wine, if you don't want to have to decide between the dozen or so varieties that Kroger is willing to keep in the cooler. The store also sells supplies for making your own, from extra bottlecaps, all the way up to complete brewing kits, with all the buckets and the malt for your first batch. For a long time, this was the only drive-through beer store in town, but the drive-through was finally closed up a few years ago. read more

(I'd actually give them 3 1/2 stars, beyond A-Ok.) BOOOOOOOOZE! I was happy to find the selection packed into this tiny little store. I was told that they once did, in fact, have a drive through, which I am still astounded by to this day that it ever existed. (I believe their sign still says drive through). Anyway...SELECTION WINES & BEER I did think they had a few key choices for wine in a very small space. Things like a 5-year old California Shiraz/Merlot for $8.99. Also, a rose prosecco for less than $10 as well. You'll find lots of interesting wines and microbrews packed into a little space, and at prices to please. HARD BOOOOOOOZE Yes, they have a floor to ceiling wall of hard liquor that isn't missing a beat. Not much more I can say about that. CAN I GET CRISTAL? yes, they have champagne and sparkling wine offerings. OVERALL I'd say for one-stop shopping, I actually like Beer Depot a smidge better than Main St. Party Store. Also, since Bella Vino has closed, you won't be able to find as many special beers in once place. For whatever you need, Beer Depot should have it and it's good to know that they sell condoms to boot right alongside the booze. Don't drink and have unprotected sex people! Be safe. I lived a block away from this place. Their prices were steeper than Village Corner, but the convenience was what did it for me. Sometimes, you need liquor in T minus five minutes. It's a one stop party -- you've got your cases, your fifths, racks and racks of wine, chips, cigarettes, mixers. They sell Nat Sherman's and I love them for it. It was the first place I ever saw the Nat Sherman Naturals -- but the fatter cigarettes. They also have the good LAN Rioja wine that I'd brown bag to parties and be a hit! Goddamn they've stuffed a lot of beer and wine in a little shop. Good selection of craft beer, adequate liquor selection, many wines from which to choose. In terms of your other options, better than Village Corner for beer, but Village Corner takes the cake for wine. Probably about the same selection of macro beer & liquor as every other party store. A good choice if you are downtown, want good beer, and don't want to get in your car to get it. Prices are a bit higher than you'll find elsewhere, but not gougingly so. On the staff - they're adequately courteous in their own townie way. It's a unique characteristic that you must know to appreciate. However, I wouldn't go here looking for wine (or beer, for that matter) selection advice. Bonus, they have home brewing supplies. read more

This place is a gem. It looks like a tiny corner convenience/liquor store, and I suppose it is this--but it's also a repository for a vast array of artisan beers from around the world, carrying everything from the best of the seasonal Great Lakes brews to Trappist ales to American craft brews from many of the major breweries. This place seems to stock pretty good stuff. It's selection is great, but not absolutely exhaustive, but it seems to have a staff that picks out good stuff. Prices are pretty reasonable given the convenience: this isn't the cheapest place to get beer but it doesn't gouge you either: you're paying for the variety and convenience. The people who work here are also very friendly and knowledgeable and very willing to help you out if you ask them questions. I love this place, and it makes me wish I lived right around the corner. As soon as one of us were able to drive, we ventured to Ann Arbor, got lost, and ventured some more for the sole purpose of finding this store. And it's not that we could even drink, but that really wasn't the point! Years later and having come of age, going back to the Beer Depot was a blessing. It was here that I first tried my first micro-brew. It was here that I first discovered Delirium, my most favorite beer on the planet. For that, they get full stars. They stack up really well against other purveyors of micro-brews and wine. Even with the space limitations, they still have such a large selection that I often found myself looking at twenty labels with names that I'd never heard of. That's scary and exciting at the same time. If you need something exotic in the Ann Arbor area, this is THE place to look for it. read more

This place has a lot of history in Ann Arbor and is a great place to stop on the way home from downtown to get some drinks or whatever. They have a great wine and beer selection, and even though I've never tried home brewing they have a TON of supplies for that as well. Very cool place. I wish it had parking and was easier to stop and go, but it's worth it. read more

Looks like they have a good selection of beer. But..we were looking for wine. They have about two racks and among them we found two excellent pinots. Prices are a bit higher than what I'm used to in California but hey, I guess you have to pay for shipping. Best part for me was that I was carded. This place looks a little scrappy on the outside but my boyfriend and I love it cuz he can spend an hour drooling over their huge selection of weird beers (it takes a lot to impress him btw) while I grab a bottle of wine. My only fear is that their homebrew section is gonna give him ideas. This place rocks, and seems to be sort of well-kept secret. The wines are a *weensy* bit higher priced, but they have a solid basic selection, and like I said a lot of beer. And the staff was pretty funny. A good one-stop shop for all of your beer, wine, and liquor needs. They definitely don't have the cheapest prices around, but as it is the closest establishment to my house that sells things, I am willing to pay a few more bucks than brush the snow off of my car and slide around in the ice to drive to Kroger or Meijer to buy my booze. If you are willing to be adventurous, they usually have some unknown/out-of-date beers and wines for really cheap. If you aren't so inclined, than you can get anything from Bud Lite to Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. Just watch out for all of the homeless people taking advantage of their can return. They have a good selection of beer, but their brewing supplies are junk and the service was awful. With brewing supply places going out of business left and right they are one of the few left, but I don't recommend them except as a last resort. My GF bought a brewing thermometer and supplies for a quick batch and we had to go back and swap the thermometer because it was broken. We go home, brew a batch and the replacement breaks in the brew leaving broken glass everywhere. Going back again they treated us like crap, and would not replace the supplies, even after we looked at their remaining thermometers and found several other cracked and broken ones. They seemed uncaring and planned to sell the defective merchandise to the next sucker. Avoid these junk peddlers. read more
