Visiting my folks in Gary and decided to have lunch and found this spot. It smelled good from the Walmart parking lot so I thought I would try. First off the prices are ridiculous. 41 bucks for a rib tip dinner is outrageous. I witnessed a girl who's order was 63 dollars and she walked out on a pre order. Can't say that I blame her. The food is decent at best. Served hot and a lot of it but you can find better for cheaper in the area. The sauce was tangy/spicy and tastes ok. Everyone who walked in after me while I ate cringed at the prices. A few walked out. This place needs to adjust their prices before they continue to lose business. This is fast food. Let's start with the good! I really want to like this place because it's very close to my home. I usually go to a spot in IN bit decided to try this place on the way home from work. I ordered 2 small tips which came to about $18.00 dollars. I called the order in and waited about 5 mins after I arrived for it to be ready. The sauce was good, the meat is seasoned well and the staff greeted me when I walked in. The bad The some of the meat was tough. It was hard to chew. I shared some with my kid and she didn't want it because it was hard to chew. Hopefully if I decide to give them another shot in the future their meat is tender. read more

This is some of the best BBQ I have had out here in the suburbs. Normally I go to the ones in the city, but this one is really good. The rib tips are always tender and cooked just right. The sauce is good too and the fries are bomb smothered in it. The only complaint is they are a little high, but most BBQ places are. I spent like $60 for a large rib tip and a rib tip & hot link combo. It actually was worth it because the food was really good that night and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. read more

Hi, I have to give thumbs up for Champion ll BBQ. My family ordered a substantial amount of food for Christmas and it was delicious. The Mac n cheese was so good that people ran to store for containers to take some home. My favorite was the pork and beef hot links. Very favorable and tasty. The collar greens.bake chicken was good too. Yes, I said, bake chicken and it was so juicy and tender. Well, I can't forget the tips, they were good as well. Service was ok. The food was bland with no seasoning. We ordered the Pork Chop combo, catfish combo, the two brats and a order of onion rings. The brats were just sat in the bun barely any sauce no peppers (as advertised) The pork chop was floured and fried, not a kick of seasoning. The lettuce tasted as if it was open in the fridge. No champs here! My quest for good smoky BBQ lives on for another day. My friend bought the tips a few weeks ago and claimed they were good so it was a no brainer; friends don't let friends eat bad BBQ. Well, in my case she did. I'm craving good barbecue so badly that last month I traveled to Memphis for good BBQ and came back disappointed. I figured maybe what I was looking for was in my own backyard. Not so much. I bought a slab of ribs without the sauce because the test of good barbecue is to be able to eat it without sauce. It was completely tasteless and smokeless. There was no seasoning at all, not even salt. To salvage it I drenched the $22.95 slab with sauce. I only ate 3 bones. I was very disappointed. My search for delicious smoky ribs continues. Used to love this place. There was spectacular food and great service. The Mac and Cheese was delicious and the rib tips were just as good. Okay, so this was our first time here. Customer service was good. I ordered a regular tip and link combo and a large tip and wing combo as well as a reg catfish dinner. We got home (Hammond, IN) and start the unwrapping. I was disappointed when I discovered that my large tip and wing was actually a large tip and link. I pulled out my receipt and realized the cashier rang my order up wrong which was surprising cause he repeated my order to me before I paid. My son and I were looking for a good barbecue place. Since Champions is right up the street from me and they were open, we thought we'd try it at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I told the guy at the counter that this was my first time there he said "oh great you'll love it!" I said OK. Okay.. meat was season well, fully cook and the sauce is pretty good not I57 bbq sauce but it pass. I am not sure what happen to the girl that always had an attitude but the last few times I visit it been a male who is very nice and polite. The prices have gone up from 2020 sm. We got regular size rib tips. It seemed pretty small for the price ($18 each) but it was plenty! And the tips were so tender and so good! Omg the sauce was good too. I've been here three times. The first time the tips was over seasoned. I overlooked it. The second time I had turkey tips. They were not that good, just ok. This time, I had a tip and link combo. The tips we're tough as boot leather. Hardly no sauce on the bottom. I ate it cause I was starving, bit I will NEVER be back! I'll give this place 3 stars. The staff was extremely nice. I ordered tip and wing combo, Jerk tips, and mushrooms. The mushrooms per my husband were ok. The Jerk Tips w/sauce in side was actually pretty good. A little dry but when dipped in sauce made them good. The wing and tip combo was good as well. The only complaint I have are the fries. They have good food however nothing is worth waiting an hour for the food. They are very disorganized and lots of young kids working theater. Nothing against young workers but there is clearly no one present with good business and leadership skills. I stopped by last night, a bit after 9 pm. I ordered the 4 wings, which came with fries and coleslaw. I ordered mild sauce on the side. I waited inside and it only took about 10 minutes. The chicken was fried and seasoned well. It was crispy, moist, and still warm by the time i made it home. The chicken was good without the sauce. However i enjoyed the mild sauce. It was sweet with a slight kick of heat. The french fries were a little thicker than your standard/classic fries but not as thick as steak fries. The fries were a bit dry for my taste. The coleslaw was interesting but good. The cuts of cabbage were larger than i am use to and they added raisins. I will definitely go back and try other items on the menu. read more
