Visiting my folks in Gary and decided to have lunch and found this spot. It smelled good from the Walmart parking lot so I thought I would try. First off the prices are ridiculous. 41 bucks for a rib tip dinner is outrageous. I witnessed a girl who's order was 63 dollars and she walked out on a pre order. Can't say that I blame her. The food is decent at best. Served hot and a lot of it but you can find better for cheaper in the area. The sauce was tangy/spicy and tastes ok. Everyone who walked in after me while I ate cringed at the prices. A few walked out. This place needs to adjust their prices before they continue to lose business. This is fast food. Not gourmet. read more

Let's start with the good! I really want to like this place because it's very close to my home. I usually go to a spot in IN bit decided to try this place on the way home from work. I ordered 2 small tips which came to about $18.00 dollars. I called the order in and waited about 5 mins after I arrived for it to be ready. The sauce was good, the meat is seasoned well and the staff greeted me when I walked in. The bad The some of the meat was tough. It was hard to chew. I shared some with my kid and she didn't want it because it was hard to chew. Hopefully if I decide to give them another shot in the future their meat is tender. read more

Champions II Bbq - a basket of french fries - Barbeque Near Me - Lansing, Illinois

This is some of the best BBQ I have had out here in the suburbs. Normally I go to the ones in the city, but this one is really good. The rib tips are always tender and cooked just right. The sauce is good too and the fries are bomb smothered in it. The only complaint is they are a little high, but most BBQ places are. I spent like $60 for a large rib tip and a rib tip & hot link combo. It actually was worth it because the food was really good that night and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. read more

Hi, I have to give thumbs up for Champion ll BBQ. My family ordered a substantial amount of food for Christmas and it was delicious. The Mac n cheese was so good that people ran to store for containers to take some home. My favorite was the pork and beef hot links. Very favorable and tasty. The collar greens.bake chicken was good too. Yes, I said, bake chicken and it was so juicy and tender. Well, I can't forget the tips, they were good as well. Lastly, Champion has the best barbecue sauce I have ever tasted. It should be bottled up and sold in grocery stores. I give this establishment 5 stars!! read more

No sure what happen, I order the turkey tip, and they were the worst I've had. They were dry and looks as if they drawn them in Bbq Sauce. I was totally disappointed for the price. On hand my husband ordered the pork tip and was very satisfied. read more

Service was ok. The food was bland with no seasoning. We ordered the Pork Chop combo, catfish combo, the two brats and a order of onion rings. The brats were just sat in the bun barely any sauce no peppers (as advertised) The pork chop was floured and fried, not a kick of seasoning. The lettuce tasted as if it was open in the fridge. I try to patronize Black businesses as much as possible but this was a total waste of $27.20. read more

Stopped in to grab a bite to eat I ran into the most disrespectful rude rude female behind the counter she had a bad attitude from the time I walked in the door Placed my order she told me it would take 15 minutes it took about 5 minutes got to my car open up the bag and the food was cold I returned to the cashier tell her the food was cold she did not acknowledge me I repeated it again she looks up and says do you want new fries and hotlink I replied yes she went back to what she was doing while I'm standing there waiting for my food she have not put in a new order yet I said give me my money back she she takes the Food and throw it in the garbage reach in the drawer and give me my money back and walks away Hate to leave a two star review on champion because it's all about this young lady she's definitely bad for their business. read more

No champs here! My quest for good smoky BBQ lives on for another day. My friend bought the tips a few weeks ago and claimed they were good so it was a no brainer; friends don't let friends eat bad BBQ. Well, in my case she did. I'm craving good barbecue so badly that last month I traveled to Memphis for good BBQ and came back disappointed. I figured maybe what I was looking for was in my own backyard. Not so much. I bought a slab of ribs without the sauce because the test of good barbecue is to be able to eat it without sauce. It was completely tasteless and smokeless. There was no seasoning at all, not even salt. To salvage it I drenched the $22.95 slab with sauce. I only ate 3 bones. I was very disappointed. My search for delicious smoky ribs continues. Boo! read more

The best bbq in town!! Clean, great service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Owners are friendly. Very good team work.

Used to love this place. There was spectacular food and great service. The Mac and Cheese was delicious and the rib tips were just as good. I don't know if there was a change in ownership or something, because the last 3 times I've gone in, the staff was rude, they didn't have any of the sides I like and the food was just average. read more

Thanks for not greeting us. We were the only one's in there. Line was busy for a long time Drove there three young men saw us, no one attempted to take our order and young man was walking around with the phone talking in it, walked past and still can't say anything. It was a guy in an apron who got up and walked off. Another young man in the back was looking right at us. Just lost a regular customer. Gotta do better ya'll read more

Okay, so this was our first time here. Customer service was good. I ordered a regular tip and link combo and a large tip and wing combo as well as a reg catfish dinner. We got home (Hammond, IN) and start the unwrapping. I was disappointed when I discovered that my large tip and wing was actually a large tip and link. I pulled out my receipt and realized the cashier rang my order up wrong which was surprising cause he repeated my order to me before I paid. The tips and links were good but I def was bummed about my missing chicken. read more

My son and I were looking for a good barbecue place. Since Champions is right up the street from me and they were open, we thought we'd try it at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I told the guy at the counter that this was my first time there he said "oh great you'll love it!" I said OK. I got my food, we brought it home, my son and I had more than enough!!! it's one of the best barbecue places I've been to in awhile!!! read more

The food is always very good, however I was very disappointed to have ordered a large turkey tip only to get home and open a NOT EVEN HALFWAY FILLED CONTAINER!!! I did not get what I paid for this time around. read more

I wish that wonder woman would loan me her lasso. Ehat would I do with it you ask ? Go to the owners of some of these sorry excuse for bbq restaurants in the south suburbs and ask them if they really think they have good food or not. First stop would be champions. Cold...no smoke.....horrible sauce. I honestly dont know how this place stays open. Oh and the steak burger was an old patty that was freezer burned. read more

Okay.. meat was season well, fully cook and the sauce is pretty good not I57 bbq sauce but it pass. I am not sure what happen to the girl that always had an attitude but the last few times I visit it been a male who is very nice and polite. The prices have gone up from 2020 sm. Combo $12.99, 2021 $14.99 and today $18.99. I still like this place but I may have to pass due to the prices .. a sm is not enough to share and a medium is $26.99 Lg $30. So just me I may or may not read more

We got regular size rib tips. It seemed pretty small for the price ($18 each) but it was plenty! And the tips were so tender and so good! Omg the sauce was good too. I got the sauce on the side and they really didn't need any sauce on them. The fries were so so yummy too! Def worth the price! Will be back soon! read more

I've been here three times. The first time the tips was over seasoned. I overlooked it. The second time I had turkey tips. They were not that good, just ok. This time, I had a tip and link combo. The tips we're tough as boot leather. Hardly no sauce on the bottom. I ate it cause I was starving, bit I will NEVER be back! The food is edible but not good, and for the price, I can get more at Leon's BBQ and a higher quality. This is not BBQ you pay for, it's the kind you eat at a family gathering, cause.... you wouldn't pay for that at a family gathering!! read more

Ordered the rib tip and wing combo. The rib tips were good the wings were fried way too hard to the point I could not eat them. They need to work on their customer service, if you mess up someone's meal you shouldn't have a attitude when they call. I will not be going back. read more

Sooo, I walked in this establishment at 2:58 inquiring about the lunch special and I was told I couldn't order from it because it was now exactly 3:00pm. At first, I thought well they're really prompt about the end of the lunch specials. As I browsed the menu, it dawned on me that it was a freaking two min difference. Why so petty? I wanted BBQ but I just walked out and went to another restaurant. Contemplating revisiting.... read more

I'll give this place 3 stars. The staff was extremely nice. I ordered tip and wing combo, Jerk tips, and mushrooms. The mushrooms per my husband were ok. The Jerk Tips w/sauce in side was actually pretty good. A little dry but when dipped in sauce made them good. The wing and tip combo was good as well. The only complaint I have are the fries. Either eat them really quick or ours were old and sat under a heat lamp. In a pinch I would go back. read more

Haven't got my food yet but I'm here at the counter and the cashier is rude. She's acting like she doesn't want to be at work. This is my first and will be the last time coming here. Our favorite place was closed on Sunday so we thought we'd try this place. Service was fine, Meat was good quality cooked well. The place was clean. We ordered small tips. Fries were good. The problem was the meat was Way too salty ! I kept hitting crazy salty spots. The sauce was too sweet, needed a bit of zing. Sorry guys I'll just wait for my normal place to be open. read more

I placed an order went Walmart because it was going to be a 15 minute wait when I returned I was told that they had no hot links had to place another order and sit another 10 minutes big waist of time read more

They have good food however nothing is worth waiting an hour for the food. They are very disorganized and lots of young kids working theater. Nothing against young workers but there is clearly no one present with good business and leadership skills. It's going to be sad to see them fail because they can't produce in s timely fashion and absolutely no customer service! Kenny's in Calumet City is a little further but I will never have to wait an hour for a burger and large tips! read more

Long waiting not good bbq. I'll try them again when the service is better. The sauce is good that's about it.

First they got my order wrong and I had to drive all the way back up there for them to fix it. The best thing was the fries. I ordered rib tips and they were way over done and chewy. Plus they were not seasoned at all. Not a great first impression. read more

This was my first time there. My chicken was bland and under cooked. My ribs where tough. I will continue to drive all the way to I-57.

The only thing better than this place is my brothers barbecue! Meat without the sauce is seasoned so well you don't need the sauce but I'm a sauce person so I get extra. I like my meat to drown amazing prices for the food you get I ordered a tip and chicken wing combo only downfall is some of the chicken wings were missing The full drumsticks, but they made up for it with the additional pieces! read more

Truly disappointed, out of 3 large orders only thing edible was the fried catfish. I order a large rib tips and got big order of fat and bones with a kids size fries. Grilled salmon was just ok. First and last time, you got me once , never again. read more

Bad Food....Poor service....and EXTREMELY HIGH, OVERPRICED MENU. Definitely will continue traveling to the City (Alice's, Lem's, or Sunny's) THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTH IT!! Overcharging because they are in the suburbs!!!!!! Just check out their menu. read more

Delicious. Sauce, wings, and service all above average. They also make great turkey links which are hard to find. Great addition to the neighborhood read more

I stopped by last night, a bit after 9 pm. I ordered the 4 wings, which came with fries and coleslaw. I ordered mild sauce on the side. I waited inside and it only took about 10 minutes. The chicken was fried and seasoned well. It was crispy, moist, and still warm by the time i made it home. The chicken was good without the sauce. However i enjoyed the mild sauce. It was sweet with a slight kick of heat. The french fries were a little thicker than your standard/classic fries but not as thick as steak fries. The fries were a bit dry for my taste. The coleslaw was interesting but good. The cuts of cabbage were larger than i am use to and they added raisins. I will definitely go back and try other items on the menu. read more

DOWNRIGHT IGNORANT! I called today, 12-6-18, to place a carry out order at 5:25 pm. The ignorant woman said we are closing early and hung up! I've given this business hundreds of dollars in business and this is how they treat customers!!! Unexceptionable! read more

I tried to support this place but after today I'm done!! Just spent 15$ on the worst Turkey Tips I've ever had. Taste like they were boiled & then had sauce dumped on them. No flavor & horrible texture. Finally The coleslaw was old & stale!!!! That's not how u run a business. Sad very sad. There's no pride in what they're doing just trying to make a dollar read more

The quality of the meat far supersedes Kenny's. Meat is very tender, not fatty or over cooked. Great Value: Very large portions for the price! Cole Slaw was different but VERY GOOD. BBQ Sauce could be kicked up a notch or two. My only complaint is the Wait Times. I've been there twice and whether you call in an order or walk in...It's still a very long wait for "Fast Food" Overall, They have GREAT POTENTIAL to corner the Rib market out that way!!! I will be returning when I have the patience for the wait. read more
