All of the food was substandard. The rib tips were chopped up so small it was as if they had disintegrated in the sauce. The chicken wings were absolutely dried out, no flavor whatsoever, tasted more like a raw hide or jerky. The fries were so salty that we had to drink a half a gallon of water. We came from Wisconsin and we went off of what was referred to us. A waste, bad taste, we'll stick with Lem's BBQ. read more

You do not want to go here!!! I put in my order twice. Neither time did they get my order right. The second time I asked for a refund the guy behind the counter threatened to come from behind the counter and jump me. I did not move and the police showed up. I simply just left and got a refund from the bank. read more

Crystal's - I ordered a taco dinner with no tomatoes, however they still did it had to go back for the correction. Second time - Barbeque Near Me - Calumet City, Illinois

I used to frequent this place every week if not more than twice a week. The prices have definitely increase a lots with no accommodation for the quality or quantity to the food. My go to is a chicken Caesar salad. Has definitely increased to about $3 more. The portion is good but you definitely have to watch to make sure they give you fresh lettuce. The wings are just ok now. Something about the taste has changed but they are definitely a little stingy with the mild sauce so you may want to request extra. The fries are a waste without the sauce. The wait is LONG. For a salad. Even if you call in. read more

Always a line, but worth the wait! My fav are their wings and mild sauce! My sister loves their nachos! Give em a try!

Went here after a night of drinking and watching a sports over my brother's crib. I got wings, fried hard and livers. Livers were to die for. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Very good. Wings were not fried long enough even after my request. They were just ok. Oh well...located in the heart of Calumet City... "The Ghetto" song by Too Short read more

Tonight I ordered chicken with rice and gravy. After I paid for my order I was given chicken with red beans and rice and a side of gravy. The person waiting on me told me this is how we make our rice and I've ordered this for the past year So when I complained that this is not what I want nor what I ordered he began to tell me if you don't like it don't come back no more. Sloppy presentation, Rude customer service, wings are miniature, and don't worry I won't ever be back to this poor excuse of a restaurant. read more

On 4/30/2022 (its been yrs since I've been) at about 9pm, I placed my order in the drive thru with a male and was quoted a total price of $5.63. When I paid w/my card, my receipt handed back to me w/my card had $5.63 total charge printed on it. I check my acct daily, so when I checked and saw $6 "pending", I was like, that's NOT right but it was "pending" so I gave the benefit of the doubt and decided to wait and see the final amount once it "posted". WELP the final charge to my acct IS $6 even and NOT $5.63. Although it's change, change adds up! I'm probably not the only person that this has happened to... IF there's a fee charged to use a card then it MUST be advised BEFORE the order is taken and BEFORE the card is charged whether it is verbal and/or posted - don't ASSume it's known. For the record, I saw no posting in the drive thru. WARNING Check ALL of your receipts/accounts AND don't throw your receipts/proof of purchase away. Fraud is real. read more

I heard great reviews about this place so we went on a Saturday. I ordered chicken wings sauce on the side. Normally when it's my first time ordering fried chicken at a place I've never gone to this is the way I order it. Anyway it was not good at all, no seasoning on the chicken and the wings were tiny. The sauce was decent and the customer service was good. Sorry I don't play about my chicken I won't be back. read more

I am only leaving one star because it wouldn't let me leave Zero Stars! CRYSTAL's Has been a staple in the Calumet City community for years, and I've been patronizing there business for a large number of years. But after today, I will confess that I will NEVER, EVER patronize this business again! They are getting away with up charging their customers and when I confronted the staff about it, his response was, "We haven't had time to change the menu board so Oh well". This is shameful behavior that being exhibited by a legitimate business that has no regard for their customers. And with that being said, they WILL NOT get another dime of my hard earned money! Customers beware! Do not let them keep getting away with this and overcharging their customers and blatantly bragging about in doing so! read more

I had tried Harold's chicken for the first time, and I was majorly let down. It was in the middle of my story telling about my horrible experience at Harold's that I was given a recommendation for Crystals. Crystals looks like a complete F***ing dump on the outside. The drive thru is one of those ones where you pull in and you'd better be sure this is what you want because you can't pull away. The drive thru goes In one lane up against a fence so there is no turning back once you get in line. The drive thru speaker is a mess. It's old and crackly and very hard to hear. When you get to the window it has that security glass that they spin your food around and out to you. There is a speaker at the drive thru window so you can hear them. Clear indication that you are in the hood baby. I ordered a 1/2 dark dinner with lemon pepper and mild sauce with peach cobbler. I live an hour away from this place and I decided to wait until I get home to enjoy my food because I didn't want to trash my car. I did eat my peach cobbler in the car. I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo disappointed with my peach cobbler. It was like 3 bucks, and all that was in my cup were some dark peaches. There was absolutely NO F***ing cobbler!!!!!!! #OhNoSheBetterDont crust is a must in cobbler honey. #GetIntoIt My cobbler tasted like some warm peaches with cinnamon. I was majorly let down because usually these little hood spots have killer deserts. My chicken was amazing. Even after my hour ride home it tasted great! I've been back since. It was seasoned properly and the combination of the mild sauce and the lemon pepper were great!! I will definitely be back!! That chicken was so good I wanted to go back in time and slap Harriet Tubman. #Okay Until next time..... read more

I am from the Old Town neighborhood and i was visiting a friend and he recommended this place. He said that its good. There are many variations of mild sauce in the city of Chicago, so i was excited to see about the sauce. I looked online to see what you all had to offer and saw a picture of the most delicious wings. I placed an order over via phone. Got back to the house, opened the bag the wings looked JUST like the picture!!! That is rare, LBS... I asked for extra sauce because some restaurants just dont give you enough. Let me tell you, I had more than enough sauce...chicken was doused in sauce and they also gave me cup on the side. Its was extra saucy and extra good, lol... it was so delicious!! I shall be back :) Do you guys sell you sauce in anything bigger than the cups? That would be really cool.... read more

I've been coming to crystals for about 16 years and "the sauce" hasn't changed. The wing sizes vary from time to time though but it's still all good. Can't go to a family function without my 50 wing pan and definitely "the sauce" or they don't want to let me in. Lol! All the chicken is the bomb and throw in "the sauce" and you're in chicken heaven. read more
