I ordered a Delivery Order from here and was pleasantly surprised. I must say I have been looking for Fried Okra everywhere and this was some of the BEST I've ever had!!! I would have given 5 stars, but my order was missing bread and cole slaw. Otherwise, the fries were crisp and there were a LOT of them. The Okra tasted great and wasn't greasy. The Pork Tips and Links were tasty...the pork was the best actually. I thought the beef links were tough. This was the combo I ordered and I couldn't locate my photos of the food...or else I would post it here. read more

I got some catfish nuggets and they were kind of fishy. I know fish is smelly but it's not always fishy okay!! The rib tips were good and so were the honey biscuits. You can tell he puts work into his food! I wasn't a big fan of the sausage. I bet you their wings are really good. Def come for lunch they have specials ! Everybody was really nice and accommodating. It is made fresh to order so you have to wait but everything's hot when you get it though! read more

First timer walked in as the owner was chopping jerk chicken tips, and when I inquired about them, he offered me a taste AND BAM, I ordered them with a link combo. The menu looks amazing, he even offered his loyalty reward program which provided me $2 off for joining, so I added fried green tomatoes. Looking forward to diving in!!!! Okay, the food was INCREDIBLE!!!! What was a quick bite to eat motivated me to return after my game tonight. The green tomatoes were some of the best I've had, as was the cold slaw, and Mac. Highly recommend this place. read more

First off this is my 1st time visiting this establishment. It took almost an hour for some Fish! FISH! I ordered thru Uber Eats as soon as the restaurant open Sunday 3/9/2025 which is 11am CST. I was quoted 25-35 minutes wait. I live 7 mins awayi got there by 11:15am & went inside to let them know if was already here, hoping it'll be ready soonerNOPE I went inside & they young lady said it'll be a FEW MORE MINUTESI got listen to Euphoriacome back still not ready Mind you i ordered FISH. I didn't leave that restaurant til almost High Noon Now this was my lunch for work so I didn't eat for like 2 hrs. Now let's talk about the food cause the service isn't there! I ordered 3 Pieces Catfish Fillet with Slaw & Spaghetti. No bread was included either. The fish was slightly salty & the batter not too thick. Nothing special about the Slaw; sweet & blandNow when I got there the young lady said there wasn't any spaghetti so I said greens instead. I wasn't even told I had spaghetti in my bagWell that said spaghetti is sweeteveryone don't like sweet spaghetti but it was tolerable. I'm not a fan of sweet spaghetti. I ordered 4 chocolate chip cookies too & those were cooked and lil too long. I'll give this restaurant ONE more try. Maybe the ribs & chicken is better. And give them about an hour to have ur food ready too. I was expecting anything for the extra long wait for FISH, but a free drink would've been nice for the extra 20 min wait. read more

Check your orders and don't hang up on customers especially when they are polite and respectful

I can't speak to the whole restaurant menu, but I've seen them at various downtown Lansing events and finally got to try some. I ordered the rib tips, and they were delicious. It was a surprisingly big portion and that made me happy. They had a good amount of sauce on them, and the sauce had a really nice flavor. It was a good blend of smoky and sweet. They were also pretty salty. I put salt on way more things than I should, so for me this was the opposite of a problem. The people who were serving were really nice and friendly. I'd go to the restaurant based on these experiences for sure. read more

It's Thursday around 2:45 I'm in the mood for some chicken and I'm driving in Calumet City and I see this small restaurant that sells jerk chicken. It's a small mom and pop place and you could tell it's family owned. I ordered two pieces of fried dark meat and 3 jerked chicken wings. Both orders came with coleslaw and a second side so I opted for the mustard greens. The jerked wings were spicy with a great smoky charred flavor. They gave me a free jerk chicken egg roll and it was the perfect tasty bite. The fried chicken with fries was greasy and it didn't have much seasoning. I ordered my food at 2:45 and the chef told me it would be 15 minutes so I ran and got gas. I returned at 3:15 and had to wait an additional 15 minutes. So it was 45 minutes total and the place was empty. I was so disappointed with the fried chicken I could see the potential so maybe this was just an off day. I would recommend they stick to what they do best and that appears to be the jerk chicken. Nothing special about the decor. I highly recommend a to go order and just don't order the fried chicken. I doubt I will be returning. read more

Great food and friendly staff! The staff was flexible in explaining their menu and helping me craft an order for my family and I. We loved the chicken, fish, and sides - everything was prepared well and was FRESH! Would 100% recommend. read more

I came to the restaurant, because I smelled the barbecue smoke while visiting the Lansing, IL post office. First of all, the sides are delicious. I enjoyed the potato salad, macaroni and cheese and baked beans. Yet, lastly, I did not like the St Louis spare ribs or the rib tips. The ribs tasted like they were baked and did not have a smoky taste or flavor. The rib tips were like a bag of thinly sliced bones with very little meat on them. The Oowee barbecue sauce was very tasty, but really sticky. It must have a lot of sugar or molasses in it. I will continue to look for another barbecue restaurant. read more

I was excited about Ooowee, but I was disappointed. The mixed greens were great, but the mini tips were bone and fat. Not worth the wait.

We have decided to intentionally support black owned businesses in our area... that's what brought us to Oo Wee Chicken and Ribs. The food and service will keep us coming back! We had a 1/2 slab of baby back ribs, chicken jerk tips and two types of fries. All I can say is yum! I think this place might become our new "go to" for takeout bbq. read more

Rib Tips were tough. You get more fries than the meat that you're paying for. Food is overpriced based on what you get and the amount of food. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Gave the fried green tomatoes and mac and cheese a try. Tomatoes were very good with just the right amount of breading, no extra sauce needed to enjoy. Mac and cheese was good as well. read more

We had the pork tips, jerk chicken tips, jerk chicken wings , and fried chicken wings. The food was really good. The portions were generous and the people were great. I'll be back when I swing through Lansing again. When I do go back, I'll look to try their sweet teas. read more

Terrible. Order a Regular Turkey Burger and it came with cheese on it. When I asked the Attendant what comes on it, she said "What comes on a regular hamburger". Asked for my food to be remade or something, I was told they could do nothing for me. I'm a Tourist coming to Chicago and nothing was oowwee about the experience at all. Foods absolutely AMAZING!!! Jerk chicken tips were FIRE!! Great establishment, great service! Authentic flavor!

The best Chicken in Chicago/Lansing‼ A great variety of great food for a great price!! You won't be disappointed.

I enjoyed my visit here. The Customer Service was absolutely amazing!! The Rep that assisted me was very attentive, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable about the food. And he was like this with EVERY customer. The food was good, I like how my order was in the same container but the items were separated and not by dividers (its just my preference). The sauce was delicious, just would've liked to have a mixture on the food. Not in the cups, but that's minor. The chicken was very crispy and flavorful. My only compliants are I wish the mac & cheese either had more cheese mixed into it, not just on the top (but it was good). And I wish I had more rib tips, the portion did seem to be small for the price. Over all, I would go back when I'm in the area. read more

The rib tips were delicious and the sauce was great. Also had fried chicken wings and they were good. The portion on the rib tips was small, I think 11oz but the cost was a little high. Waited almost 40 min for rip tips. Very slow and I called ahead. The spaghetti was a good choice of side. And the French fries were good with the sauce. Peach cobbler was not worth buying. The dough was mushy and dissolved like thin paper in your mouth. Would have given 5 stars but I was disappointed in wait time, portion size, cost and dessert. Gave 4 stars because the other food did taste good. read more

One of my fav. Midwest bbq restaurants from the turkey tips to the egg roll oowwee chicken the selection is endless

I was surprised to smell bbq while dropping off mail at the post office. I am glad I investigated & stopped in. I ordered a mini tip lunch special & jerk n macaroni egg roll. The tips were fresh but not charred enough for my liking, but it was very tasty. The egg roll was good but lacked the jerk seasoning, so I gave them a 4/5 stars. I will return to explore other menu items. read more

Amazing food! Amazing service. I got the jerk chicken tips literally made me so full and full of flavor

I was looking for some rib tips, preferably turkey tips. I googled & found this place. When I got there, someone was checking on their order of chicken tips. I decided to try that instead. And I ordered jerk wings. This is the second place that I've tried in the month. Word of warning, It didn't smell of any Bbq, both places. The other place was in Chicago that my sister raves about. One thing both places have in common is that the ribs taste like they were cooked in the oven. At Ooowee the wait was too long. I try to support Black owned small businesses, but why can't they cook good tips. The chicken was ok, wish the jerk sauce had been put on the chicken instead of me having to pour the sauce on. The sides I couldn't eat. The owner was very courteous. read more

Today was my first time ordering from this business. We have good family friends' who order here often. So having tasted the jerk chicken, I figured the ribs were worth a try, especially since my son requested ribs for his birthday. When I called in my order, I informed them that this was my first time ordering with them. Mr. Avery said no problem, and was super kind, professional and patient! He walked me thru my options of what is best for the amount of people I had and my budget. Meat is a big treat in our house,.. bcuz we typically limit that, so needless to say, my son was excited and he Loved it! We all enjoyed it! I truly appreciated the GREAT customer service I was given by Avery, both over the phone AND in person when I picked up my food. Excellent service and delicious food! A win win for me! read more

Good food. But service IS SO SLOW. I ordered my food at 5:30pm said 30 mins until it's ready, didn't get my food til 6:30pm??? It's good but not that good for an hour wait. It's almost like they make your food when you come in to pick it up. I order from here every once and awhile, but it really irritates me every time. Makes me wanna take my business elsewhere. May be my last time. read more

The food was amazing as well as the service! My rib tips were delicious as well as were all the sides. I use to go to bombers and now I'm so so glad I found this hidden gem! I hope they do well. I love this place and it's location. The food that they offer was needed and desired by the community. The menu is versatile, authentic Jamacian and soul food. Stay away. Far far away. Yuck! $33 for pure garbage. Not affiliated with oooowee sweet tea. Ribs boiled and dry. Sauce meh. Chicken old and a joke. Too small for words.
