I got some catfish nuggets and they were kind of fishy. I know fish is smelly but it's not always fishy okay!! The rib tips were good and so were the honey biscuits. First timer walked in as the owner was chopping jerk chicken tips, and when I inquired about them, he offered me a taste AND BAM, I ordered them with a link combo. The menu looks amazing, he even offered his loyalty reward program which provided me $2 off for joining, so I added fried green tomatoes. Looking forward to diving in!!!! I wasn't even told I had spaghetti in my bagWell that said spaghetti is sweeteveryone don't like sweet spaghetti but it was tolerable. I'm not a fan of sweet spaghetti. I can't speak to the whole restaurant menu, but I've seen them at various downtown Lansing events and finally got to try some. I ordered the rib tips, and they were delicious. It was a surprisingly big portion and that made me happy. They had a good amount of sauce on them, and the sauce had a really nice flavor. It was a good blend of smoky and sweet. They were also pretty salty. I put salt on way more things than I should, so for me this was the opposite of a problem. The people who were serving were really nice and friendly. It's Thursday around 2:45 I'm in the mood for some chicken and I'm driving in Calumet City and I see this small restaurant that sells jerk chicken. It's a small mom and pop place and you could tell it's family owned. I ordered two pieces of fried dark meat and 3 jerked chicken wings. Both orders came with coleslaw and a second side so I opted for the mustard greens. The jerked wings were spicy with a great smoky charred flavor. They gave me a free jerk chicken egg roll and it was the perfect tasty bite. The fried chicken with fries was greasy and it didn't have much seasoning. I ordered my food at 2:45 and the chef told me it would be 15 minutes so I ran and got gas. I returned at 3:15 and had to wait an additional 15 minutes. So it was 45 minutes total and the place was empty. I was so disappointed with the fried chicken I could see the potential so maybe this was just an off day. I would recommend they stick to what they do best and that appears to be the jerk chicken. Nothing special about the decor. I highly recommend a to go order and just don't order the fried chicken. I was excited about Ooowee, but I was disappointed. The mixed greens were great, but the mini tips were bone and fat. Not worth the wait.

I came to the restaurant, because I smelled the barbecue smoke while visiting the Lansing, IL post office. First of all, the sides are delicious. I enjoyed the potato salad, macaroni and cheese and baked beans. Yet, lastly, I did not like the St Louis spare ribs or the rib tips. The ribs tasted like they were baked and did not have a smoky taste or flavor. The rib tips were like a bag of thinly sliced bones with very little meat on them. The Oowee barbecue sauce was very tasty, but really sticky. It must have a lot of sugar or molasses in it. I will continue to look for another barbecue restaurant. read more

We have decided to intentionally support black owned businesses in our area... that's what brought us to Oo Wee Chicken and Ribs. The food and service will keep us coming back! We had a 1/2 slab of baby back ribs, chicken jerk tips and two types of fries. All I can say is yum! I think this place might become our new "go to" for takeout bbq. read more

I wanted barbecue so there are usually go to Dave's barbecue in Tinley Park but this time I decided to use a barbecue that was black owned near me and Lansing I'm going now I try always chicken and ribs I had a taste for a half a chicken white barbecue with fries and the fries were terrible but they were burnt nasty disgusting the chicken was old it was baked chicken not barbecue and the barbecue sauce was the bare minimum I don't recommend this place ever at all even though I would love to endorse black owned business!!! The sauce was delicious, just would've liked to have a mixture on the food. Not in the cups, but that's minor. The chicken was very crispy and flavorful. My only compliants are I wish the mac & cheese either had more cheese mixed into it, not just on the top (but it was good). I was surprised to smell bbq while dropping off mail at the post office. I am glad I investigated & stopped in. I ordered a mini tip lunch special & jerk n macaroni egg roll. The tips were fresh but not charred enough for my liking, but it was very tasty. The egg roll was good but lacked the jerk seasoning, so I gave them a 4/5 stars. I was looking for some rib tips, preferably turkey tips. I googled & found this place. When I got there, someone was checking on their order of chicken tips. I decided to try that instead. And I ordered jerk wings. This is the second place that I've tried in the month. Word of warning, It didn't smell of any Bbq, both places. The other place was in Chicago that my sister raves about. One thing both places have in common is that the ribs taste like they were cooked in the oven. At Ooowee the wait was too long. Today was my first time ordering from this business. We have good family friends' who order here often. So having tasted the jerk chicken, I figured the ribs were worth a try, especially since my son requested ribs for his birthday. When I called in my order, I informed them that this was my first time ordering with them. Mr. Avery said no problem, and was super kind, professional and patient! He walked me thru my options of what is best for the amount of people I had and my budget. Meat is a big treat in our house,.. bcuz we typically limit that, so needless to say, my son was excited and he Loved it! We all enjoyed it! We having been meaning to eat here for awhile and today was the day! Pleasantly surprised at how delicious the full slap of ribs were. My husband and I split a full rack of the baby back ribs! "OooWee! Were they good, meaty and tender we had the sweet bbq sauce and it was really good. Loved the coleslaw reminded me of KiFC version. Homemade bake beans were also good! Mac and cheese was ok.
