DeVry University is Fantastic…read more Pros: Resources: - Skill port: Much like Udemy or SkillShare, DeVry lets you access courses outside of your curriculum for you to learn for those attending DeVry. - Tech Playground: Filled with Several Home Assistant Devices (Google Home, Alexa, Jibo), Unlimited 3d Printing for your class/personal Projects, Nice Cozy Couch (Should be plural), Adjustable lighting, Powerful PCs(includes gaming). Several different kinds of VR headsets. - EBooks: take it anytime, anywhere, any place. No need to carry around heavy back packs. Staff: - Admissions and Student Central: are extremely helpful and friendly. They can assist incoming and current students in a professional manner. - Instructors and Professors: are literally professionals in their perspective fields. I have yet to come across a professor who has background in which they haven't worked in the field. Every Professor I have taken will give you a bit of insight of what you will be dealing with once you hit the workforce. Student-Life: - Work and Study Balance: DeVry semesters are broken into 2 sessions. This allows you to take two classes for 8 weeks each session as opposed to 4 classes for 16 weeks. This will give you the ability to study and focus on the classes you take as opposed to juggling around 4 classes at the same time. At the same time, it will free up your schedule because you will only be dedicating 1-2 days to be in class as opposed to 2-4. - Senior Project: DeVry brings in companies for students to work on projects. Example: O'Hare P Fly with Butch increased Concessions by 30%. - Successful students: John Lohrentz: Won the U.S. Cyber Challenge (USCC) and was invited to the White House. Johnathon Cwick: Finalist for the Timmy Awards for "Best StartUp" for his fundraising platform: ShoppingGives. DeVry University Team at Performics: Won The Best In Show Award against hundreds of submissions across 51 countries. Online Courses: Allows you to take courses online if classes are full. Cons: These are just pet peeves: No dorms? There is an apartment complex not far from here. Work out a deal maybe? Senior Project should not just be for Seniors: I really love the senior project but I wish students can get involved at their Sophomore and Junior Years and work as assistants and testers. This would be a great learning environment for earlier year'd students, give the project managers of the group a bit more of a challenge gauging and balancing the students skills with their workload. There is always a need for testing when it comes to these projects and I think these students would be a perfect fit and it is an actual job in the field. Maybe I am just jealous. Home Alone Online: There should be more incentive to come into the building as opposed to online: Online courses should only be a last resort. When people are here, they communicate more and form bonds; it makes them want to stay enrolled, it also gives them an incentive to graduate. Online is great if you live far away from campus but if you can be here you should be here because it is awesome. Discussion Post: No one likes them, they are a chore as opposed to an assignment, they really do nothing for you. Want students and instructors to communicate together in topics that revolve around the class? Then require every class to have a group project. Students group up, they talk to each other and give each other tasks. If your listening Corporate, here is a challenge - find 1 person that loves the discussion posts. Moving to Virtual and Less Hands-on: I find it EXTREMELY concerning that DeVry might push their classes in which students build PCs and Set up routers, switches, etc. in a computer simulated program as opposed to actually building it physically in real life. I do not think it takes a genius to know and understand that Employers would probably choose someone who actually touched and work with the components physically over someone who has done it through software.

As a student, DeVry had tutoring services to help students and their staff were very good at…read morepromoting their education. They had seniors helping out students in their classes. When I was considering this university, people I highly respected (but never attended their program) believed this is a great university. Their ads speak well of them. I had various former students, who graduated in the 1980s & 1990s who told me they could not get employment after graduating in their field of study and had to change careers / get additional training elsewhere. I learned these issues after graduation. The education in engineering is WORTHLESS because they are not ABET accredited school. In other words, employers ONLY HIRE ABET ACCREDITED GRADUATES. The problem was employment after graduation & student loan policies. I finished a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, BS Computer Engineering Technology in 2014. ADTalem Global Education, dba DeVry University, utilizes The Higher Learning Commission.org to procure student loans. DeVry would max out the student's credit for student loans. The tuition cost is based on their ability to get funding. In the first 2 years as a student, I was a cash paying student. I applied for student loans then dropped out. Unknown to me, they were able to get student loans. Instead of returning the unused funds, they increased my tuition / education costs for previous classes that were paid in full. Accounting education fraud. Their billing is so confusing because they are committing fraud. They sell fake health insurance policies. BEWARE

Shoutout to my CCOP colleagues!! =D…read more This is a great campus with nature blend with technology. I came from a really big camps (UCLA - go Bruins!) so I was not used to attending school at such a small campus but it is actually really nice because you can walk anywhere within 5 minutes (except when you have to walk to the Wellness Center). The library is a great high tech center with lots of study places and on the first floor next to the library, there is a 24 hour study room. I was a bit bummed to find out the library isn't open 24 hours. The gym is pretty neat and it is almost never crowded. I wish we had a pool on campus. The commons (cafeteria) has lots of yummy dishes that rotates every day so you can never get tired or sick of the food. It is CASH only though so if you plan on eating often, I would suggest getting a meal plan with the school. Parking can be pretty tough when all the students are on campus at once or trying to get out all at once...since there's only 1 way in/out.

I love where it's situated in beautiful Downers Grove, the security is a bit much but it's nice to know we're safe and it's not like other schools with high people traffic where you have bums randomly asking you for change, etc. (I went to undergrad in Chicago) It's clean and has a beautiful setting near a woodsy area, love it! The teachers are awesome, I've met some great people who are at the top of their field and are not only there to teach but honestly make sure you succeed. They provide you with the knowledge you need but also people skills and I've realized I've learned so much just in my first year about myself and what I need to do to improve in order to be the ideal health professional. I think Midwestern is an excellent school and if you're contemplating on going here, you should simply visit to see what they have to offer. I'm sure you will fall in love with it as much as I have :)

I was taking some classes at Harper Professional Center as part of a certification program and…read morereally enjoyed this building. It's far off from the main Harper campus which for me was a definite plus. That means parking right outside your classroom and you never have to worry about going up & down aisles to find parking. There is always parking at HPC! HPC has a nice computer lab you have full access to including printing, plus a resource in the lab if you need help with anything. Actually the HPC is full of resources there to help with anything an adult learner could need. It's actually a great facility completely geared to the post bachelor degree adult age learners which is nice. My personal opinion is when you're of that age you do well in classes you take because you truly are committed to the learning aspect in your courses as opposed to just getting by, & retaining information for tests. If you need to take some Harper courses and ever see them offered at HPC, I highly recommend opting to take them here. Great staff, location and minimal issues as opposed to the main campus.
