I went to Roosevelt University to attend a conference that was hosted there. It was hard to find the entrance because there was no clear sign showing where to enter or park. I had to drive around the entire building to find the entrance that I was supposed to enter through. Once inside I found the hallways to be very cramped. The classrooms all had chalkboards, which I haven't seen in at least 15 years. The bathrooms have not been updated in a long time, 30 years if I had to guess. There were some sound problems with a presentation but the sound engineer was there to fix the issue. There were some nice lounge areas to rest and recharge between sessions on a long day. I cannot recommend Roosevelt University to as a facility to attend conferences at. read more

I came here to do a lecture and was so pleased with my experience! The tech support staff were fabulous and the campus was easy to navigate. Very clean lecture hall with plenty of space to host a large audience. Lots of parking, though it is a bit of a walk to get to the main entrance. read more

Attended all 4 years for the convenience of being in the suburbs. Many of the classes were at night, but not a lot of classes or flexibility. Guidance counselor a changed so much in the college of Ed that you pretty much had to make your own class decisions to figure everything out Professors were not connected or understanding of students work and class schedules. The student teaching program was insensitive where the professor and Coe Op teacher made snide comments about students Personal appearance, and hair style, irreverent to teaching. One big fashion show. Lastly, the school preaches social justice until it comes time for the bill, where they get harassing. Just... No. Go to another school where you are valued as a student and not a check book. read more

I thought it would be appropriate to review RU since I just graduated with my MBA from there. It seems as though most of the reviewers are coming from the PsyD program. My experience with RU has been totally different. I have felt welcome there since I stepped foot into the admissions office. You need to realize that Roosevelt is NOT a top school but is reputable. I came in with that knowledge. For the most part, my professors were great. In fact, I felt that they were more engaged with the students and more passionate abut their subjects than my undergrad professors (a large Chicago-area state school). The curriculum was consistent, but I did have a couple rogue professors. Did it get the job done? Yes. Did I learn something? Yes. MBA programs should not be entered lightly, but I would recommend RU for a working professional looking for a reasonably priced program. I graduated with my MBA from the Schaumburg campus about a year ago. For the most part instructors were great and class sizes were just right. There was a ton of class interaction and I gained lots of practical knowledge from my classmates. I also utilized the career center while I was there. They were very friendly and helpful. Although I didn't find a job using them the personality profiles and other advice they gave helped to direct me better in my career path. Finally the class time couldn't have been more convenient. That was the biggest plus to attending this campus. I never had a problem getting the classes I wanted at the times I wanted and finishing a timely manner was not a problem. read more

This place is not worth the money you pay. I was in the counseling program and in the end I DON'T believe or feel most psychology/social work position are needed. The "learning" and THEORIES are just THEORIES NOT LAWS that always work, thus the field is a SHAM. I feel I've learned some valuable things from a few professors, but most of the teachers are quite lame or just weighed down with the several positions they have so they can't be effective. Their program is ridiculous and a mess in many ways. I would go to a public university if I could go back and reneg on my decision. read more

I'm sad to say I have only negatives to say about the Roosevelt Schaumburg campus. I understand some programs are better than others. For the accounting program, I would absolutely not recommend them. I've wasted over $40,000 on horrible class schedules (only offer one of each class per semester and only at night--many of them on the SAME night and same time) and the worst teachers I've ever encountered. The old, crotchety accounting teachers that taught all my classes merely read from a PowerPoint every class and offered nothing else--I wish I didn't pay $699.00 a credit hour to have to teach myself :( The Schaumburg campus offers nothing to the student, yet we still have to pay well over $25,000 a year...with no true benefits. No quality education. On top of that, it's extremely difficult to get any office department to respond to you and I've had way too many problems to list. Please save yourself and find a different school, at least if you're looking into going into a business major. It's tempting since the Schaumburg campus is conveniently located. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. read more

I got my bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University and took majority of my courses at the Schaumburg campus. The teacher's are good, hence the 2 stars, but I had some big problems with the counselors. I had to switch 3 different times because they kept giving me the wrong schedule. They didn't have a clue about the required courses for my degree (it was Psychology) and so they kept steering me in the wrong direction. In the end they cost me thousands of dollars in unnecessary courses not to mention the wasted time for classes I didn't even need. read more

I just received my MS in HRM from Roosevelt University. The overwhelming majority of my classes were in the evenings at the Robin Campus in Schaumburg. The professors that I had were knowledgeable and the vast majority were very helpful as well. The in class experience was exceptional and I gained remarkable insights from the professors and other students. Overall it was a fantastic experience. The Schaumburg Campus was clean, beautiful and I always felt safe there. read more

I never had any problem with RU schaumburg. The campus is nice, small, and personable. I think you really have to have gone to a horrible campus that disrespects their students (ECC, WIU) before you can truly appreciate how great RU is. People here really care about you, you are not just a name on paper. That was very important to me. Teachers can be hit or miss, but there are some really excellent ones here. I went here for two years before graduating with a degree in psychology. Having gone through the gamut of their teachers, here are the BEST (take a class with them if you can:) - Dr. Wilson (history) - Jan Bone (writing) - Melissa Sisco (racism) avoid Professor Smith at all costs, although his paranormal class was fascinating. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Roosevelt University Family, and the admin and teaching staff in particular. I loved the Schaumburg campus and found loads of support and consideration for me being a working mom and full time student. The classes were excellent learning experiences and the guidance adviser, Jennifer H., was an invaluable resource all the years that I attended. If there was a major only offer in Chicago, they were very clear and direct about it and helped me work my goals and schedule to best suit. I am a full time student at the Schaumburg campus, I have yet to compute to the Chicago campus..but will have to one day due to the lack of day classes the Schaumburg campus offers. That is the downside, I don't want to be a full night time student. Once you start to get into your major you won't have a choice. The majority of the professors are older; and there is nothing wrong with that...however, I have found that many of them are stuck in their ways and a tad bit cocky. They need to bring in more real life experiences are vary the information based on the students. Stop teaching the same material, semester after semester w/no variety... Overall, it's been a good experience and I have my favorites. ;) We all do. I like that fact that it's in the suburbs, it allows me to be a full time student while always being a full time mom. But I am worried that if they don't start to offer more day classes, it will be a long road until I finish. :( read more

I had/am having an absolutely terrible experience with Roosevelt University. I would not encourage any person of color to attend that racist institution. I was recently dismissed from the doctoral program because they did not agree with the proposed topic of my dissertation and I refused to change it. As a result, after 6 semesters and 30K, they unceremoniously dismissed me from the program and I am now having to pursue legal options. It is the worst collegiate experience that I have ever suffered through. read more

Wow, I'm completely shocked at the negative review below. I personally had a great experience at RU. My major was Business Management, and the professors teaching the courses for my field were extremely knowledgeable. Most professors had field experiance with reputable companies such as Motorola, Boeing, & Oracle. My wife attended UIC but didnt enjoy the experiance and transfered to RU (thats how we met ;-)...) I know other people that attended other schools but didnt like it because they had professors that simply read from the book and gave out tests. Thats the biggest difference between RU and other schools, especially public schools. Overall, its a great school! read more
