Meet Director Kram: Before I became Director of Allied Health my career was as Medical Assistant, Nurse and then Educator. As an Educator I found Teaching exhilarating. I never feel more energized than after a class that has gone well, it is my goal to see the look of acknowledgement on my students face. As a teacher, I aim to perpetuate knowledge and inspire learning. I seek a balance in my courses between lecturing to students and asking them to make discoveries. I encourage students to engage with the topic at hand, with me, and with each other in the belief that good teaching depends upon intellectual exchange. I love teaching when the learning in my classroom is palpable: When I can sense it in the quickening pace of discussion or a student's visible delight in using newly learned clinical skills or medical jargon; when I can hear the excitement in students' testimonials about mastering skills that "made a difference" or theories that transformed practices and perspectives. I count these as teaching successes and make it a habit to reflect on their origins so that I can recreate the conditions for their occurrence again and again. My philosophy of teaching is informed by the material I teach, relevant scholarship, and the lessons I have learned from personal teaching successes and failures. My approach to student assessment reflects my two goals. First, the student is expected to master a body of knowledge by demonstrating on exams a familiarity with those clinical skills, competencies and concepts studied in the course. Second, students are given the opportunity to reflect upon the material that emphasizes the skills of critical thinking and demonstrating skills acquired throughout the semester. While my standards are high, I help the students to meet expectations by providing office hours, review sessions and open lab for additional hands on clinical skills. I believe that W.B. Yeats captured the exhilaration of teaching when he wrote: "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." My goal as a 'teacher of teachers' is to ignite in my learners a passion to create an institutional teaching and learning environment that fosters a conflagration of educational experimentation and innovation. This is a great not for profit school that will prepare you to become a Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant or a Pharmacy Tech. I was in the Medical Assistant Program. Dr. Ahmad was top notch and really cares for his students. He is very knowledgeable and related the material to real life situations. The small class sizes make it possible for you to get one on one attention. If you are struggling or don't understand the material Dr. Ahmad will go out of his way to make sure you get the help you need. The rest of the staff is very helpful and approachable as well. It isn't unheard of for the President to come and chat with the students at lunch. I will say you get out of the program what you put in. It is a challenging fast track program that is 6 months in class for the day program and then 160 hours externship in a doctor's office Dr. Tishchenko not only teaches the Pharmacy Tech program but also cares for all the students by serving as Dean. She helps make sure we have all our paperwork in order so we can graduate. Then she helps us get externships that we feel most suited for and subsequently helps us get hired after our externship. Because the school was accredited I was able to get the financial aid I needed to be able to attend. Gayathree Raman Financial Aid Administrator was very helpful in getting my financial aid taken care of and making the process very painless. She also helped me get my financial paperwork completed for graduation. I was also able to signup for my certification exam, something I would not have been able to do if the school wasn't accredited. If you are looking for an affordable fast track program that gives you the skills you need to be successful in the work place you can't go wrong with Northwest Suburban College. Dr. Liliya is one of the best teacher and mentor I have ever had. She helped me with my professional resume writing. She scheduled my job placement interview. This is a great nonfood profit organization to work for. I joined NWSC in 2020; the administration transforms a 100% in-person program into a hybrid to meet the needs of the students. This is an organization that has the student's best interest in mind. I have been working with Colinda for years; she doesn't tolerate nonsense; she is all about student success. She has a high standard for her instructions: reliability- integrity- push the students to reach their highest- commitment. I was not looking for a job when they called me to work here; I joined because of the manager; she will make sure her students are the best, she will provide instructors with all the tools necessary. I recently moved to the area and wanted to start a health career program and did not really know what to do. My first time going to college. I called and talked with Sara who was very helpful and she transferred me over to Ms Kram the Director of the college. Sara told me Ms Kram could answer any of my questions.
