Went to this restaurant in Tulum and I don't understand the hype. The place was relatively empty when we came and we were immediately seated. The ambience and decor is definitely to die for. If you're looking for an upscale jungle fuel establishment, this is a place you should go to. Bye if you care about the food, I would suggest not. The menu was extremely limited compared to their Cancun location. And I didn't like that every main needed to have sides purchased separately. It just made everything way more expensive than it needed to be especially since the quality of the food wasn't that great. Even though this is a steakhouse, I do feel like they should add a chicken and a fish option to their menu just to have a little bit more variety. Now getting into the food we had the ceviche. It was very good. I love the presentation of it. It just wasn't the best that I've had. My friends got the lamb chops. They said it was 10 out of 10 in regards to the temperature that it was cooked. The octopus was good. I wish it came with some type of sauce so I feel like there's room for improvement there. For sides, I did get the asparagus and the sweet potato the portions for the sides are definitely great. One thing my whole party agreed on was that the drinks at this establishment was also a 10 out of 10. And I did like that the host allowed us to engage in other libations at the establishment. I feel like they make some improvements to their menu. I would check them back out.
Over-the-top | Noise | Expensive Over-the-top: the location is over the top. As soon as you walk in, the decor is top-notch. It feels like you're walking through a rainforest with great lighting and amazing spots for photos. The Staff is very attractive. It's the Vanderpump rules of Cancun. Where to work there, you have to be 8 or hotter. Something is happening during the dining experience every 30 minutes. From live saxophone playing to fashion shows to Cirque du Soleil acrobats to live guitar playing to salsa dancing, there's always something super interactive, which is an over-the-top experience, so just be ready to be entertained at all moments. Noise: My number one complaint is the noise level. It is so loud throughout the entire experience. The music plays 4 to 5 levels too high. The live music is noisy as well. No matter where you're sitting, the noise level is high in the room. So, if you plan on having an intimate date or value conversation with friends, it's very difficult at this location between the entertainment and the overall noise level Expensive: the food price ratio is pretty low overall. You pay for everything from bottles of water to additional chips for your Guacamole. Also, at my table, many (6) of us had the salmon, which was relatively undercooked. We asked for the chef's standard, which was medium, and based on that, I would encourage everybody to do well because half of us didn't like the salmon's cooking level. The portions are pretty large, so bring your appetite, but the quality to the price point, given the other options on the island. It just isn't one of the higher ones. Pro tip: make a reservation. This place is super popular. Pro tip: make sure you wear impressive clothes. This place is trendy, chic, and sceney. Therefore, you should bring a solid fit, or else you will stick out. Pro tip: the cocktail menu is impressive. Make sure you have at least 1. Why not 5 stars: The combination of noise, food quality, and price loses a star. If it only had one or two of these, I would give it 5 stars because it truly is a unique experience. However, as a restaurant first, at its price point, I expect the ability to have a conversation and superior food, so this location loses 1 star. However, if you ever want to go to a Vegas-style nightclub and have an elaborate meal, this is your spot. It is definitely a unique and memorable experience.
What an experience!!!! When we walked in it was like its own little jungle oasis! We were greeted with such welcome, we had 3 people waiting on us taking orders and explaining the menu. Since we use usd they explained the difference in pricing. We didn't life a finger; chairs were pulled out, napkins put in our laps and a purse stand beside the table. My daughter received her own serenade and the entertainment was phenomenal. The food was very delicious and the price not too bad. Will definitely be back when we visit again!
Great food , ambience, and excellent service. Pedro was extremely generous in helping us with the right menu and drink selection as well as helping us to celebrate the night and looking out for us at every turn through the evening. This is a great place to celebrate a special evening or to enjoy the views and live performances through the night.
Me and two friends went in for dinner but was immediately regretting it. We ordered 3 Lemon drops.. the server was rushing us to serve. His name was Oscar or Omar. And when I asked for the check he Said all three of our drinks .. WITHOUT any dinner.. we had no food. Was 2000 pesos. According to him each drink was 50 us dolllars scam!!!!!! this place put a horrible taste in our mouth of tulum we are super upset. . 50 dollars for a drink? When I asked him he than said "it was normal Tulum prices" Sir .. on your menu it says 400 pesos for a drink that's $22 dollars . VERY UNHAPPY. He lost a customer forever
INSANE is the best way to describe it. Now whether that's a bad thing or good thing, that's all based on personal experience because I could see it go either way. It was insane but fun for our table. It was pretty much a steakhouse with a bunch of side quests. Live music, fashion show, aerial art performance, bottle service, party vibes, dinner.. I can't even describe it or list everything but think about any live entertainment and they most likely have it. The entertainment is probably a distraction from their prices because they charge for EVERYTHING and try to upsell. This is the con of it all. I get the "hustle" especially from tourist but damn. They charge for water and every side dish. If you order a steak, that's all you'll get. The vibe gets you suckered into buying a bottle. If your table declines, you are the strong ones. Not us. We ended up getting bottle service. The bottle was around $550 and a 30 second spot light lol Oh yeah, food. Got the ribeye, can't go wrong with that cut but it was lacking salt, mash potatoes.. also bland. The grilled asparagus was good though. They also had bread and w/ different types of butter which was good. A steakhouse with a nice view sounds like a cute little date spot, right? Wrong. Be prepared to be overstimulated. If you're looking to party, this place might be the place for you. This restaurant felt more like a club than the club next door. It's definitely a spot to check out at least once. It was an experience forsure.
One of several visits to Chambao. Like most of the fantastic restaurants on the lagoon, the view here is spectacular. The restaurant has a chic ambiance and decor. The wind made the wood shutters bang quite a bit though. Luckily it wasn't crowded so it wasn't too noisy aside from the clatter of the wood and the repeated melee of dancers, elevated dance music and sparklers from the orders of bottle service. They aim for an upbeat vibe. Service was excellent. Our head waiter, Oscar, was very attentive and not obtrusive. Food was good. Filet was good but not the best I've had. Shrimp and short rib tacos were excellent. Bread service with the different butters was nice. Guacamole a must. Chocolate Decadence Dessert-mmmm....Lava cake, chocolate cake with berries, mousse and my favorite-the one with broken oreo cookie pieces.
One of my absolute favorite places in Cancun and the entire location of restaurants under Rosa Negra. My twin sis, mother, and I have made a tradition to coming to Cancun for thanksgiving every year and this time I brought my girlfriend and we absolutely loved it. The guacamole was amazing. Freshest I've ever had and the quaint dimly lit atmosphere created a memorably intimate experience. I enjoyed the crab legs, octopus, and more. This place is definitely one of the bucle list places for Cancun so I highly recommend since it's on the back bay and overlooks the water. read more

Chambao Cancun absolutely delivers on the vibe, music, and service. The staff was attentive, polished, and made the experience feel special from start to finish. The atmosphere is lively, upscale, and clearly designed for people who want dinner to feel like a whole event. Food wise, this is where things fell a bit short for me. I ordered the spicy Maine lobster croquettes, ribeye steak (the smallest) Chambao potatoes and potato mille feuille, and shrimp. While the flavors were there, the dishes came out lukewarm, which was disappointing especially given the price point and wait time for food. At this level, temperature and execution really matter. The food wasn't bad, but for what we paid, I honestly expected more. For comparison, I could have had a stronger overall meal in the Seaport area of Boston at a similar or even lower price point. That said, if you're going for the experience, ambiance, music, and top tier staff, Chambao hits the mark. Just know that the food may not fully match the hype or cost. Overall: Amazing vibe and service, solid flavors, but execution didn't quite justify the price. read more

The service here is excellent. All the staff are friendly and Annie. The food is pricey but great quality. If you're wanting tacos go with the short ribs. Location and ambiance are a vibe!!!! read more

From the food, to the service, to the ambiance, a time was had for my Birthday!! This spot is expensive! $650 for the three of us. Charges seemed like they were coming out of nowhere for everything. Got the Ribeye Steak and Fries with tacos, shots, and a hookah! read more

My first visit to Chambao was in Cabo, my second visit was just as delightful. The wait staff was best in class , Sotero and Lalo just call them the dynamic duo. Wish there was a Chambao in Atlanta. read more

I've recommended Chambao to so many people! A must when in Cancun! The steak is incredible. But the ambience makes this place out of this world! The shows and performers throughout the night are incredible. Also, it was my birthday! They bring out sparklers and make it a huge deal. This is the place to be if you're in Cancun! We went for date night and everything was exquisite! From the choice of music / entertainment to the food is season to perfection! I love the scenery on the water and it wasn't hot as it's already hot in Cancun. Definitely will be back! read more

5 stars! This was by far our top restaurant in Cancun. TLDR: Do not go to any other steakhouse/seafood house in the Cancun Hotel Zone. They wont compare. Tourism is the only industry in Cancun. It's literally a city where the service is top notch because they need you to come back. It's very impressive for the staff here to take it to the next level and rise above the competition in such a service forward environment. The overall service, the attentiveness, passion and their energy was 5 Star. Oscar and Steven saw to us on our last night of vacation and were amazing. Even getting hugs when we left. These guys don't need to be called over to the table for anything because they came to the table a moment before i even knew that i needed something. Thats the service. The food was amazing. The Australian Wagyu Ribeye melted like butter, which is more than I can say for the other place we went for the same cut. One of the best crab cakes ive had. Tons of table side cooking and presentation. You will be greeted by their dry age steaks as you walk in. Ambiance... This place is wild!! Its a party, a show, and fine dining. Its waterfront but you wont be looking at the water. Guys, be careful with your eyes if on a date. Its was a parade of models dancing all around all night including some aerial performances. Some hot guys too though. Multiple live musicians popped in and out throughout the evening. read more
3-4 stars. Made 7pm reservations here for a Saturday night for a very, very large party for my best friends' joint bachelorette/bachelor trip! We literally had over 30 people seated together, which was successfully done. We ordered a wide range of dishes of course, but I got lobster empanadas and FCK burger. The lobster empanadas were pretty good. FCK burger wasn't the best. Was very rich with cheese, basically too rich... it was really difficult to finish. My friend and I ordered a burger each but we should've shared. Best thing honestly was their butters, especially truffle, with their bread. We ordered a lot of bottles for our tables since there was so much of us, but unfortunately had to buy the more expensive one to get sparklers :( The other restaurants we visited always gave us sparklers regardless of what we ordered, so we were bummed about that. Service was okay. Although they delivered a pretty smooth dinner for such a huge party, the service wasn't the friendliest, compared to our other dinner at Portfirios. Restaurant is super beautiful! Great view of the ocean during sunset, many photos ops. Very clean. I read there's also a show but we had to leave unfortunately. Rosa Negra Group knows how to throw a party and cook up a fantastic meal! We keep checking off one restaurant of their group at a time and always have a fantastic time! This spot makes incredible cocktails alongside lots of top quality steaks. We got a large one for the table to split alongside many other dishes, like ceviche, croquettes, and hasselback potatoes. So damn tasty! The fire show along with aerialists was such a treat. DJ keeps the energy high and people grooving. It was such a great night and can't wait to visit another establishment next! read more

The best ambiance I have ever dined in hands down. My group had a lot of fun this was a great treat for our 1st night out our trip. The service is as great as anywhere in Cancun! Food and drinks were delicious. My salmon tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. Definitely will come back on another trip to Cancun! Another thing I enjoyed was the music, they had a DJ play good songs great sound quality. Loud music but the vibe was perfect. read more
Hard to describe the experience in this restaurant. The food is great, the entertainment is great and the service is really great. Let's start with the bread. Sounds crazy, but this was one of the best bread services I've had. The bread came with 3 different flavor infused butters, one with garlic and chives, one with citrus and one with truffles. They were all really amazing. The seabass black ceviche was also the best ceviche we had during our trip. The flavor was tangy and the fish with veggies was really something special. The octopus salad appetizer was pretty good, but probably the only thing I wouldn't get again. The porterhouse was tender and well seasoned, went well with the side of creamed corn we got. The last dish was the seasonal fish dish and that was super good too. We actually ate dinner from 7-11pm, eating and enjoying the multiple shows and celebrations that happen in the restaurant. This is truly an "Instagramable" restaurant. Every corner is gorgeous and the layout of the entrance is beautiful! The show the dancers put on along with the guitarist is breathtaking, I've never seen anything like it before. They also have a mini fashion show with the staff during dinner which I also have never seen anything like it before. As for the food, the only thing that was worth mentioning was the surf and turf tacos. The tacos were amazing and probably the best ones I had the whole trip. As for the raw fish and all the other food, everything was either fishy or just average. Aside from the food, we had a few drinks, good taste but they were very weak. Their cocktail menu is interesting and they do have a wide variety of options. read more

First time at Chambao, love the ambiance! Wish the aerial dances had more than one show at night but you will be entertained for sure! Live music was definitely a treat!
