I love me som KBBQ. SoCal has it down. I haven't had Cham Soot Gol in a long time, so it felt nostalgic to eat here. I usually don't stay in the area so I find myself eating at other KBBQs further out. We came for a family dinner on a Sunday, it was my uncle's birthday. We ordered all the meats and everything was so good. What stood out for me was the beef tongue. Absolutely delicious. I know we have good food in the Bay but there's just something about SoCal. Service was good, our server came around often and made sure we had enough banchan and meats for our large group. The restaurant was clean, spacious and thankfully not full. When there's a million grills going I prefer if my hair doesn't absorb the smell lol. read more

I'm giving this closer to a 3.5 stars. I grew up coming here when it was 15 bucks for lunch so it has a near and dear place to my heart but objectively speaking there are better KBBQ spots around. The restaurant itself is nice and wide, with good airflow. I've had issues at other restaurants with floors being oily and I'm glad that wasn't the case here. The service was fast and they were pretty attentive the whole time, especially with changing the grill and refilling our table. We ordered the B option for our table, so just above the standard options. For the most part everything was standard or even good; however, the banchan they gave us at the start of the meal were either warm when the dish is meant to be cold or hard and stale. You could tell these were prepped a while in advance and it was not the best way to start a meal. Even the rice we were served had a stale texture on the top, with a fluffy texture in the middle, so likely it was sitting out for a while. The meats all came out fast, and to reiterate the quality and quanity of meat was standard to good. The ribeye, spicy beef belly, pork belly, and pork jowl were some of the standouts. The soups were definitely on the watery side, not a stew as the names would suggest. And the icecream at the end of the meal was pretty good. Overall if you need to eat some KBBQ in a pinch, especially if you have a larger party which the restaurant can accommodate, this is a decent spot. Brought the team here for dinner to celebrate wrapping up a long week with 4 deadlines. It was 4 of us on a Friday evening at around 7pm-ish. I was surprised that the place had many tables available, for q moment I thought that would not be a good sign, I was happily wrong. Staff is friendly and attentive. They kept coming over to see if we wanted to order more or if we needed a grill change. In terms of the meats. They were good for the price we paid. We had the more expensive tier which compared to other AYCE KBBQ was. It bad at 40.00 q person. Decent amount of ban chans. the space was dark and clean. The exhaust seems to be working well. On a Saturday afternoon in late June, my brother wanted to come here. At 11:30am, we waited to get seated. They have a lunch special $22.99 including weekends. The staff are nice and very good at refill water pitchers, changing the grills. The newest addition are tablets to order meats at each table. The banchans are in middle of restaurant -dried chicken, fried rice, tempura, beef bone, potato salad, macaroni salad, salad pieces, fried rice, white rice. Cham Sut Gol has the BEST SERVICE; No contest! My friends and I went out last night to celebrate a birthday and we had such a a great time here. Julie was our main server and she was on top of our orders the entire time. The portions she served were perfect for our party and really satisfied that kbbq-craving that we all have. I was a bit needy (partly because we enjoyed her company so much) yet, she was so patient and professional. In addition to the great service, she cracked cheesy jokes the entire night - a service we didn't pay extra for but greatly appreciated. Came for dinner here yesterday with my partner after wanting to try this place for sometime since moving to the area. I would like to say we arrived around 7pm on a Saturday and waited for about 10 mins for 2 people. Once we were seated all the sides were already there which was great. The sides were your typical Korean bbq sides but we did notice how fresh the sides were compared to other locations we've been to. The meats were good and portions were great that we did only one round along with the sides. It is priced at $33 per person , but the portions and service make up for the price. Cham Soot Gol always leaves me with a food coma! We noticed they've added kimchi fried rice to the menu and it was pretty yum. They could be a bit lighter on the salt, and that includes their soups as well but other than that, you're getting a pretty nice deal for the value. The servers are all very sweet and are always checking in to see if you're enjoying your food (although, every time they've checked in on me, my mouth would be stuffed..) and it seems they also remember faces, haha! The banchan was delicious and we reordered everything multiple times. We ordered Spicy pork, thinly sliced beef brisket, and spicy beef belly. These were our favorites and so delicious. When I asked for salt and pepper, the amount of pepper was so minimal I could count the grains. Cham Soot Gol was one of my first experiences having KBBQ and now its been over 15 years. I would come with family and friends periodically. It's been awhile until my Korean driver mentioned it recently. I decided to give it a visit again. I came with one other person on a Saturday and there was no wait. We got seated right away although it was kind of busy. Cham Soot Gol has two different menu options: A ($31/pp) and B ($36). Option B is their more "premium" option which includes everything on option A with some speciality meats. The meats include pork jowl, tongue, short ribs, finger rib, octopus, and premium pork belly. We went with option B. My favorites were the jowl and the tongue. Besides meats all their sides were fine and enjoyable. What I did not like about Cham Soot Gol is their sesame oil which tastes funky. It tastes like it has been mixed with vegetable oil or some sort of seed oil. I am definitely not a fan of that and it messes with the whole experience for me. Everything else was cool for the price though. And of course you get a complementary scoop of thrifty's ice cream of your choice at the end. They have strawberry, malt, and green tea. You can no longer scoop it yourself and they bring it out in a cup for you. The service was really good. The guys waiting on us kept checking on us and we were never without meat. They also gave us recommendations on how to cook everything. Our grills were constantly changed and they would stock on any sides we finished and refilled our waters. This was my first time here and I was really impressed with it. I personally like going to more traditional KBBQ spots rather than the chains and I'm really glad I found this spot in Garden Grove. We came on a weekday, so it wasn't as crowded, but there are plenty of seats for a weekend night. We got the Set A because it had everything we liked. We switched off between brisket, beef belly, and pork belly. The serving size for each one was a good portion, which is nice to not constantly ask to bring out another round of the same meat. The meat was cooking quickly and they were all really tender. I loved all the small appetizers they had on the table and the servers were super nice and were really attentive to ask if we wanted other things like rice paper radish, salad, hot sauce, etc. At the end, they asked if we wanted any ice cream and gave it in a to-go cup. Banchan was garbage I've never had fishcake that made me pull a disgusted face but first time for everything. Coming from out of town, my family decided to have a bit of reunion dinner here at the Cham Soot Gol in Garden Grove, in which the venue graciously hosted. Staying in Anaheim, we decided to make the trip to Cham Soot Gol which ultimately proved to be the best dining option we could have selected. For as good as a Korean-BBQ spot Cham Soot Gol is, we were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait, and were promptly seated. The staff and servers were extremely attentive, being there every time when we needed them without requiring us to call out to them despite the restaurant filling up quite quickly after our arrival. There's nothing else that I really can say about Cham Soot Gol that hasn't already been said. Perhaps, I would like to reemphasize on the quality of the meats served. All the cuts were tender, juicy and moist, and cooked perfectly on the grill. Again, the servers and staff were on point, making sure that the grill were replaced before becoming too charred. By the end of that night, Cham Soot Gol definitely hit the spot and fulfilled a craving that I didn't even know I had until I dined there. Overall, a great spot to enjoy with family and friends. It's also pretty tight seating so it was difficult with my friends with small kids and strollers.
