Christmas Day and every BBQ place was busy. My dad wanted to grab the Peking duck but the wait time was too long so he tried the soy sauce braised duck on the suggestion of the store clerk. He should have just waited for the Peking as the tastier option. Please come and create your own adventure.

There are so many BBQ restaurants where should you go to? it depends on your situation, most if not everybody I know said Lien Hoa, in Little Saigon, they are the oldest one in Westminster but they are not for me. The taste of the BBQ duck was good but the duck was 100% not cooked long enough, it was chewy, as I said in my other reviews I do not have scissors teeth or even Fred Flinstone teeth!! so FUGGEDABOUDIT, end of story. I have come here since their grand opening, they used to be called DUONG SON located in the same mall 1 block away where my Doctor brother had his medical office so we used to dine there often. They used to have a full Chinese amazing food restaurant attached to the BBQ restaurant. They moved to this location years ago and morphed into NEW DUONG SON restaurant. They no longer have a restaurant but they had a fast food counter selling Chowfun, sauteed green beans, fried dough, etc.. I particularly love the pickles they sold, kim chee, I love their cabbage marinated in vinegar, excellent taste to go w the duck. A customer came to pick up a full roasted pig, heo quay, OMYGAWD, huge pig, it must be for a big party, I was told it was $200, enough to feed a village ! Their duck was always juicy and tender, you wont need to go to a dentist to repair damage from eating WALKING DUCKS! I'm tempted to rate them 5 stars but I was turned off by their constantly jacking up prices, it was $28 not that long ago, it was now $32 on 12-14-2024.

1/1/2025 $10.33 for this roasted pork plate

Service- ok Ambiance- can be hectic, order to go only Food- tastes good like how it should taste and prices are similar to any other establishment of this sort. This time, I ordered the roast pork with one choice of veggies over rice and it was only $10.33 after taxes. That is such a steal! I was surprised by how much meat was on the plate. Cash only

The food is good, but if you want your food being handled with the same gloved hands that was just sweeping one second before, go here. Guy didn't try to hide it or anything. Was sweeping floors and used same gloved hand to grab a piece of pork and chop it up for us. Disgusting. One of their violations posted here by the health dept was lack of handwashing stations. Yeah, a gloved hand doesn't equate to a clean hand.

combos w rice, bbq pork, & duck!!

Amazing!! On a whim I looked up duck bc I haven't had any in a while. I just moved & don't know where the best spots are yet. I found New Doung Son BBQ on yelp & decided to give it a try & i'm so happy I did!! They run out pretty early & it's cash only!! The roasted duck is sooo good & so is the bbq pork. We gave the roast pork a try as well & it was delicious. My bf loved the peanut sauce (I think it's peanut) that came with our combos. We're becoming regulars for sure!!

Honestly exceeded my expectations, I will be driving 30 mins to visit them often. I came at 10am on a weekday and I was the only customer, the 2 guys worked here were very nice and I had the best and freshest crispy pork! I even enjoyed the complementary soup that came with my food. Definitely a legit place, and thank you for open early at 9am everyday! It will be perfect for family get together :)

Lots of items to get for lunch

Came here for roast pork, duck and char siu, since again Maui no more. It's cash only, and love that they cut the box to allow steak out and not make everything soggy. We purchased by the pound, and noticed the guy behind us got the food with rice, love they provide a quick lunch and will try that next time. Flavor of everything was great as well. will be back.

Trying out this place for the first time. They have roast duck, soy sauce chicken, bbq pork, roast pork, fried noodle and other food item. The roast duck and roast pork were both very good. Good customer service. Hard to find parking.

This place is the #1 spot for this type of food. And prices are so cheap. These guys know their asian bbq cuisine. I've tried the rest, and it's no comparison! They take cash only. Very small shop located on 1st floor to the very left of the middle stairs if you're facing east. Their best seller is the bbq pork ribs that ALWAYS sell out after lunch. It is a rare occasion if they still sell it at 3-4 pm. But don't fret, their other items are just as good, like their roast duck, pork, & their honey flavor bbq xa xiu pork mmmhmm! Flavors are spot on, meats are tender juicy & not dry. Their side dishes are delicious too, I especially love their beef soup and stir fry chow fun. Weekends are very busy, come early!

Yummm! I love Cantonese bbq. I made a stop here on my foodie trip for some roast duck! I bought half a duck for $13.50. Very flavorful and not fatty. My friend got the roast pork- very good also! They have a lot of other cuts of meats as well and you can also order combo plates! Cash only establishment and the staff here is so kind!!

All the tables were full and there was one party of 11 just ahead of us. Our wait for a table was like 30 minutes or so. Once we were up we were guided to a table towards the back for five. Our server asked if we been here before and if we wanted anything else besides water to drink. My brother and his fiance split a full order of the beef ribs and side order of sauteed garlic green beans. My mom and step dad split a full order of beef ribs while I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs which came with two side orders. I picked coleslaw and onion rings which I shared with the family. The food came out promptly. Everyone enjoyed their food. The baby back ribs were moist with flavor, smoked and went well with their bbq sauce. The rest of the family really like their beef ribs. And they even commented that it was better than the other bbq places we been to. Definitely will return and highly recommend.

*** SCAM ALERT *** I…read moredon't use the word "SCAM" lightly, but that's what this was. My adult son called in a $281.62 order off the menu for Mother's Day. They would not accept the order or payment over the phone because the order was "too big." They asked that someone go there and pay up front for the entire order. Since it was the evening before Mother's Day, I drove to them and paid for the order. Yes, I was also presented with a minumum 20% TIP screen, which I declined. When I got there at pickup time (4:00pm) on Mother's Day, the price changed to $325.51. I was told that, for some reason, they had cut about 50% larger portions than the menu specified (see the line items, which should have been 1 lb. each), so they charged me for the difference ($325.51 - $281.62) which was $43.89 (about 50% more for the 2 items they cut heavier). No, there was no mention when I placed the order that the total cost might change due to extra meat. Neither is it shown on their web site or printed menus. When I protested, there was no option. If I don't pay the $43.89 difference, I don't get the Mother's Day food. After about 20 minutes of bickering at the counter with two different clerks (note the time stamp differences on the credit card slips), I was given my original order, with a net price reduction of ($281.62 - $254.93) $26.69. My persistence had paid off. On a positive note, the cook did, twice, walk up to me and quietly apologize for what was going on. I know many folks would have folded in this situation, but that's not my nature. I don't stand for dishonesty. Yes, it was embarrassing, other clients in line were not happy (I let them skip ahead of me so as not to inconvenience them). None of them had price increases. I don't know if the clerks wanted a tip because the management doesn't pay them much, or it this goes deeper and is standard operating procedure that assumes most clients will simply approve of the overage and pay up. In any case, from this client's point of view, this is a SCAM! When it was all over, I took my 11 and 12 year old grandsons (who had been sitting patiently waiting for grandpa to pay) and my food package to the car, drove home and proudly presented the meat to my family. After all, I am a hunter-gatherer; and the food was great!

I usually call in an order for pick it up but I needed to finish up some work before dinner and my family wanted BBQ. I didn't have time to drive over there but noticed they now offer delivery so I downloaded their app. I was having trouble adding an item to my cart so I called to ask for help. After trying to walk me through it without success, Cole just offered to personally drop off the order for me. I was totally thinking I was going to let my family down and have to figure out something else. I was shocked that he even offered because I know they are a small shop and can get busy. I assumed they partnered with door dash or Uber eats for their delivery. The cherry on top was that the food got here faster than if I had used door dash Anyhow, it is rare to experience this kind of hospitality these days and thought they deserved the kudos. Thank you for going above and beyond. Our favorites on the menu are the pulled pork, brisket, sausage and chicken.

It can get pretty busy depending on when you go, but I love that you can join the waitlist ahead of time through Yelp--that's a huge plus. Depending on which meat you order, some will take a while to cook (i.e chicken skin), so would plan according. Each meal comes with kim chi and radishes which paired well with our skewers. Overall, it was a good meal. Although they primarily specialize in skewers (including lamb, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and vegetables) there's also main dishes you can order such as dry spicy hot pot, fried rice, and stir fry beef udon. The generally vibe inside probably leans towards large group outings where you order soju or sake with some friends and just have a good time. However, it also a good place to bring family or kids and just enjoying watching the skewers rotate on the grill. The service here was good and the skewers came out pretty quickly. I could see myself coming back here again.

It's become one of my boyfriend's and my go-to places when we're in the mood for skewers. This is a great place for a casual date night, but it also works well for bigger groups since the experience is pretty social. The setup grills about 14 skewers at a time, so the cooking process can be a little slow (especially during dinner hours when it gets busy). It does feel like they could use a few more staff members, but the workers here are friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. One thing I appreciated is how involved the staff are with the grilling process. They'll check in regularly to help cook the skewers and make sure everything is done properly. If you need extra sauces or seasoning, they're quick to bring them out. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable, and the menu offers a huge variety of skewers along with a few non-skewer items. You'll also get some complimentary sides like chawanmushi (steamed egg), kimchi, and pickled radish, which are nice to snack on while waiting for the skewers to finish cooking. During our visit we ordered: Mild Spicy Lamb Kebab Mild Spicy Beef Kebab Marinated Beef Kebab Beef Tongue Pork Belly Shrimp Kebab Marinated Chicken Kebab Sweet Corn Cheese My favorites were definitely the Mild Spicy Lamb Kebab, Mild Spicy Beef Kebab, and the Marinated Beef Kebab. Honestly, their classic lamb and beef skewers are hard to beat and are always a safe bet. The mala skewers themselves weren't overly spicy, but they provide a spice rub you can dip them in, which really boosts the flavor if you want that extra kick. A nice bonus right now: if you spend over $100, you'll get free corn cheese as an appetizer, which is always a crowd-pleaser. One small tip: the skewers get extremely hot, so be careful when grabbing them off the grill. Overall, this is a solid spot for northeastern Chinese-style BBQ with a wide selection of skewers and a fun grilling experience. It's a place we keep coming back to.
