I admit, the quality on many of these products are good. But there is a deception at work, and that…read moreis photographs of the product that make them look two to four times bigger than they are. Swiss colony puts the net weight into the description, but that does not put into perception the actual size of the items that you or your gift recipients will be receiving. Take the summer sausages, for example. About five ounces each. The pictures make them look like a foot long, but in reality they fit in the palm of your hand. Yesterday, I was shopping for cookies for a friend. They only had raspberry-filled center cookies. $30 for one pound of cookies! What? plus another $12 for shipping puts it at $42 a pound. They're like those Pepperidge Farm cookies in the white bags that are about $7.00 each. I have an $800 line of credit with them, but The Swiss Colony and all their subsiderary companies, like Seventh Avenue, Montgomery Ward, Midnight Velvet, Country Door, Monroe & Main, Ashro, Ginny's, The Tender Filet, Midwest Catalog Brands, including The Wisconsin Cheeseman and AmeriMark, are a terrible ripoff. Most gift sites are expensive, but The Swiss Colony exemplifies "shrinkflation". Their products always look much bigger than they are, which is the number one complaint even on their own website.

The Wisconsin Cheeseman is a good place to find edible gifts, and other things by mail. They have…read moretheir own in-house credit, with a usual starting limit of $400. All the gifts are under that, and many under $100 so it is easy to buy many gifts for the money. BE WARNED, however, the pictures make the gifts look three times bigger than they really are. Look at the net weight of each item carefully. The average price is about $18 a pound up to $25 a pound. Take for instance the one-pound sausage gift--it looks huge, about 18" across when in fact it is half of that, barely the distance between your thumb and little finger spread out (in ancient times, what they called a "span"). And the sausages themselves look huge, but they are barely 4" long! And the rule of thumb for every gift site is to get rid of older product first, so if you order here, it's a roll of the dice. You can call customer service and place an order that way and specify to please send FRESH product or they will get a bad review here. There is just no telling how fresh your gift will be and NONE of them look like the pictures. This holds true for every gift site, include this one's sister site, The Swiss Colony. They are not nearly as big as the pictures make them out to be so---don't be too disappointed now that you have the lowdown.

I live far away and placed an order about a month ago for relatives in the Wisconsin area. Shipping…read morewas expensive, as others have mentioned, and the package was delivered 4 days before it was scheduled to arrive. With a company that charges this much and ships perishable products it would be nice if the shipping was reliable.
