A clear sign of excellent training was when I approached a server at the cocktail reception to inquire about my allium allergies, she immediately brought the banquet, maître D to discuss the options for me. It was clear that the allergy was not communicated to the establishment or within the establishment. Nonetheless, the concern was handled with care and thoughtful professionalism. The options that were still available to me or communicate communicated, and I had a wonderful meal. The grounds and garden are well designed for outdoor services. In this case, an outdoor wedding. Chairs were comfortable, and the fountain in the background created a lovely atmosphere and photo opportunity. The one critique I have is that no covering such as a gazebo or tent, was insight and thunderstorms were eminent. If I could recommend anything to the management, it would be to have this option on hand to avoid distractions from the actual ceremony. When thunder crackled in the background, we secretly hoped that the service would come to an end in time. Everyone was dressed in evening attire, so a gazebo or tent would have been appreciated. We were not inside more than 15 minutes when the skies did open up. Catastrophe averted. With the exception of one server who spilled wine on my son's newly pressed shirt, Service was meticulous. In the case of the red wine incident, this could have been averted by wrapping the wine bottle appropriately in a service linen. A little more training in this area would be recommend recommended. All in all, a solid four star event. The filet mignon, French green beans, and magnificent desserts were a five star Cleverly, our hosts prepared and end to the night with a coffee station and Donuts cleverly hanging on Hooks. The donuts were exceptional. It's difficult to rate without knowing the cost per person so I am limiting my rankings beginning with a five star and deducting minimally for a couple of challenges in service. We truly wouldn't have changed a thing. Our guests raved about the food and drinks just as much as we did! Since the ceremony and reception were held in the same room, the space had to be flipped during cocktail hour. We were a little worried our guests would notice or that it might be disruptive, but not a single person mentioned it. The transition was completely seamless, which is a huge testament to Vikki and her amazing staff. We worked with Vikki throughout the planning process, and she was incredible. She was responsive, organized, and present every step of the way. She coordinated with all of our vendors, kept everything running smoothly, and was there in person on the wedding day, which made such a difference. I had mentioned a few small personal touches I wanted set up, and without hesitation, she took care of every one of them herself. When we returned to pick up our belongings, everything had been packed neatly and carefully, which was such a thoughtful touch. We toured several other restaurant venues while planning our wedding, and at one venue we were told the coordinator would help us plan but wouldn't actually be there on the wedding day. That didn't sit right with us. Having Vikki there throughout our entire celebration gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to truly enjoy every moment. Vikki and the entire Park West Loft team exceeded every expectation we had. From the planning process to the last moments of our wedding night, they made us feel genuinely cared for. The Empire Club is located on a quiet residential street where the homes were probably built in the 70's. The facilities are classic and simple, but a little dim, so it makes the place seem a bit older than it is. However, I loved that it was low on the frou frou and ruffles. It has a small rear garden that can fit 140 guests for a ceremony, however that wouldn't be enough for my party. The ceremony could also be held in thhe narrow upstairs level (capacity 200 and not wheelchair accessible) or in the ballroom (capacity 250 to 300 ceremony or 250 reception dinner). Cocktails are a separate room that allows guests to mingle and for the staff to turn over the space quickly. We enjoyed a tasting menu on our visit and were blown away by the sheer quantity of food provided. We had the whole spread - hot and cold appetizers, salad, various entrees, and had to beg to skip dessert! Overall, the food was good and presented well. The food quality didn't blow me away (probably a 3 star food rating) but would be good enough for most of my guests. I recommend Empire for those who would like an affordable wedding, need the extra care, like supporting local family businesses, and value customer service highly. Chris was fantastic to work with!
