Phone calls and emails with "he will call you back" and never did. Then at 2AM the morning of my appointment I finally got the drawn photo concepts back. Not thrilled and took up as much time as possible making sure it was good: Tattooing itself was fine. Finished and given after care instructions. I was told in about 2 weeks someone would reach out to book a follow up checkup because it is such a large piece. Nothing. I call; "he is actually with someone. He will contact you back" nothing. Nothing. Nothing. And Nothing. Fast forward TWO MONTHS. I call. Finally get Someone . Explain the entire thing, and what am I told? "Send us a message in Insta and we will decide if you need a follow up". But that wasn't what was told? currently still waiting to be messaged back. First I would like to say, that the staff was very knowledgeable, polite and the studio was very clean. With that said, I got a tattoo which came out beautiful! The cost was $800.00. It was a few flowers, about 8" in length. As I was showing friends that have numerous tattoos of the same quality, they almost fell on the floor ! They told me what they paid for theirs. They were all $400 and under. Reading other reviews on the shop, and fees charged, I personally feel I was grossly over charged. But it was my own fault for not investigating more thoroughly. read more

Great brand new place at Matawan NJ. There is a lot of talent in this facility and it's only growing by the the day. Smiley and the crew are a great team. The place is spaciousness fully equipped. It's a very home feeling when you arrive and greeted. They focus on customer service and good work. Check their other platforms for images of the work they do (instagram, Facebook ect..) I found Chakra Tattoo when I was searching for a tattoo artist that specializes in watercolor. After going through a lot of different artists instagrams and portfolios, I decided on Bryan (insta @idiaz.tattoos) at Chakra. From first contact seeking a consultation to finished tattoo, working with Bryan and the staff at Chakra was amazing. I told him my idea, showed him a few references, and he assured me it was a peice he could do. He sent me the sketch a few days before and quickly modified the one thing I requested. HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! My tattoo took 9 hours over the course of 2 days back to back. Bryan was attentive to detail, gentle, kind, and just overall amazing. His talent is PHENOMENAL. My wolf with watercolor tattoo is amazing! I definitely plan on booking with him again. In addition to my time working with Bryan, I also noticed how talented the other staff are as well. They all take pride in their own work, but all seemed genuinely proud of their coworkers. They all took opportunities to look at eachothers work and make it a point to give a genuine compliment. Rizzi, the artist, looked at the pictures he brought and designed a beautiful tattoo combining a Celtic cross and the EMS star of life. Chakra Tattoos has a great process for setting up tattoos. I emailed in to set up a consultation with the artist I requested and when we met, the process was painless. We sat down for somewhere like 30 minutes so that I could explain what I was looking for as well as her thoughts on the tattoo, placement, and ideas they had. They made a rough sketch of what I was interested in and then we part ways for about two months. A couple of days prior to my appointment, they sent me like a half dozen sketches based on my tattoo and we discussed those ideas before the appointment and at the appointment. I sat for about two hours and left with the cutest tattoo on my ankle! The shop is really chill and I felt super comfortable while I was there. Each artist has a TV at their station to keep you occupied while they're doing their thing, I loved that! I definitely plan on going back. I give them a 4/5 because I did have to wait a bit before my tattooing actually started while the artist who worked on me set up and I had a slightly negative reaction to the soap that I purchased from them but that's not so bad! read more

I had FaceTime mtg w/Sara followed by the appt. for days later. day of the work I got a call that she had an incident with her hand and can't do for minimum two weeks. this is 9/9/23. I also had a mtg with jay who I sent pics of my tattoo and never got confirmation. I had that appt for 9/9 and when I called before I left my home I was told I had none since it was not in the book. two artist that I can't give a bad review on their work but the customer service of this establishment was the worst ever received in any business. never would recommend since it was very disappointin. read more

My experience with Chakra Tattoo was incredible! The shop was extremely clean and had such a good vibe. Everyone was super nice! Ace did such an amazing job with my tattoo. His line work is absolutely stunning. I'm extremely picky with my tattoos and specifically wanted someone who can do delicate lines. He amazed me with his work! He had The Office playing while he worked which was a huge plus!! Ace made me feel comfortable and relaxed the entire time. He is incredibly nice and held conversation with me which made time go by pretty fast. This was my 5th tattoo and Ace was hands down the best artist I've worked with!! The absolute worst experience I have ever had with a merchant. I waited months, put down a deposit and was hopeful that I would like the design sent to me. I finally received my design the day of my apt and it was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I understand doing a cover up is hard, but the artist did not even listen to anything I mentioned during our "5 min consult" -- when I told the "manager" Meghan that I wasn't happy with any of the designs given she advised it would still be a no call no show and I would lose my deposit. The way they run their business is borderline consumer fraud and the attorney general as well as the BBB will be hearing about their practices. read more

I'm a very passionate Disney fan and decided to get a sleeve done. I sent a dm/email and John got back to me within the hour. Very professional guy and he set me up with a consultation with the owner Smiley. When I arrived it was such a warm and inviting environment, I already knew I made the correct choice. 3 sessions into my sleeve currently and they have been incredibly professional, cordial and welcoming. Meghan is a wonderful person and always greets me with a smile asking how myself and my fiancé are doing. The whole crew Ace, Bryan, Rogo, John, Sara, Smiley they're all beyond fantastic. Rude was late which the have a 30min window. We got lost it was in the middle of nowhere .I got called back by a wonderful gentleman and he said come in get your line work done no worries that was at 5:15pm we got there at 5:40.. told him it would take time to get back. No problem. I get there and Sarah gets all in my face your appointment was at 4. I explained her employee told me to come un noone was there anyway open until 7. Told me no.
