    Sushi Deluxe Dinner
    Emily G.

They have tons of menu options ranging from Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese. I dined in and had a good experience. I ordered the sushi deluxe dinner combo (shrimp tempura roll and 9 piece nigiri) and it was delicious. The fish tasted very fresh. Other members of my party enjoyed their pad see ew, pad thai, and various curries.

Food was ok but it is not only overpriced but the check is always inflated as you can see on the picture of my receipt Ordered 2 bottles of wine and was charged 8 dollars corkage fee for each and then the price per bottle at 28 dollars each so the actual price per bottle is actually 36 I may as well take my own if a place is going to charge me corkage for their own wine! Ordered one appetizer which seemed reasonably priced at 14.95 but was charged 11.90 in addition to the 14.95 for two wontons that came on the tray Prices of all entres get jacked up depending on which protein you order, normally in any other restaurant prices only vary when you order shrimp. So all in all prices are higher in disguise. If food is decent you shouldn't need to hide charges, just show the real price and I will make up my mind. Have never seen your deceiving system anywhere else. Appetizer was good value for the amount of food for 14.95 but with the separate charge for two wontons became overpriced. Will most likely never go back

    9. Hunan Lunch

I was in the area for work and looked for Chinese food on the Yelp app. CAB came up having 3.5 stars and usually I won't go anywhere with less than 4 stars. I ordered my usual Hunan Chicken and egg roll. The entree I received looked pretty good, so I dove right in. The chicken and veggies were cooked pretty well, but I feel like the sauce came up a little short. Not spicy at all! They don't have shrimp egg rolls, so I got some cute Vietnamese egg rolls with sweet chili sauce. Those were pretty good. I think the kind of Chinese I normally get is not something they do regularly, but they put it on the menu to expand the menu. All in all, pretty good food, but nothing that sets itself apart from others in the area.

This is a favorite place for lunch near our house. Lucky us! The service is attentive and friendly and the sushi is surprisingly good. We used to order takeout from the former Chai's( which I didn't love their sushi), but the owners are different and so is the menu. The menu has both sushi and noodle dishes and is pretty extensive, yet affordable for lunch. My go-to's are the Bento box and the sushi and sashimi sampler lunch specials.

Later I saw the actual restaurant is a bit small with a few tables and sushi bar so I'm thinking they have out grown their space and after eating the food I can understand how that happened. As mentioned it has a small footprint but we didn't wait long. Our server was very kind and provided excellent service. We started with the gyoza which were out of this world! They had the perfect char on the dumpling without making it too seared. The Sashimi plate was incredible, each piece of fish melted in your mouth. If I have to give one critique I'd say our yellow tail was still a little frozen but that didn't stop me from devouring it. Crispy Salmon Roll was light and refreshing and their Rainbow Roll was like no other I've had. My husband and I have two reference points when it comes to sushi; mine is Japan where I was introduced to it as a young Marine, his is Hawaii where had the most amazing sushi about 5 years ago. Not many places can compare to those experiences but Sushi Mon was VERY close!

No body really liked the dishes here. Service: our server was very kind and tried his best to accommodate us. Great ambience but I don't see any of us coming back here for food.

Five stars, no hesitation…read more I heard about Sono Sushi through Resy and finally made it in. It's located in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, right next to the ABC 11 studios, easy to find and a great spot if you're already downtown. The ambiance is great and fits the food well. There's a nice mix of seating, tables along the windows looking out onto the street, high top tables, traditional dining tables, and a sushi bar if you want to sit up close and watch everything being made. It feels lively without being loud, and works well whether you're there for a date night or a more casual meal. We started with the Aburi appetizer, torched salmon belly, ooba, salmon roe, Japanese seabream, yuzu kosho, and ponzu, and it was outstanding. Everything worked together perfectly, rich, bright, and balanced. I also ordered ikura and ebi, even though I meant to order ama ebi, but no regrets there. Still excellent. We shared the Poke Roll with wakame, avocado, cucumber, mango, tuna, salmon, hamachi, and Sono poke sauce, and it was very good, fresh, flavorful, and well composed without being overdone. My wife ordered the spicy miso ramen and loved it. The broth was the star, deep and comforting, and the pork chashu pieces were massive, in a good way. I went with the chicken katsu curry, panko fried chicken thigh with house curry and koshihikari rice, something I haven't had since Little Tokyo in LA a few years ago, and it tasted like home. Comforting, familiar, and exactly what I was hoping for. For drinks, I ordered the "SONO? SO-YES!" entirely because of the name, but also because I love blood orange. Casamigos Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, coconut cream, simple syrup, and blood orange juice, it was excellent. My only complaint is that I wanted more of it. My wife got the Okinawa Spritz, a play on an Aperol spritz with passionfruit, and it was even better than the original. We finished with the yuzu cheesecake. I debated between that and the ube cheesecake, but since this is a Japanese restaurant, yuzu felt right, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, everything from the food to the drinks hit. This is a place I would happily return to, and honestly, I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

Ordered the Grand Piano and Umi Kazan rolls, both good with shrimp tempura but the Grand Piano was far "denser" with the blue crab in the middle. The Umi Kazan was my favorite with the shredded crab on top. I liked the assortment of options and how you could customize if you wanted. Also ordered a Malbec wine- quite good. Our waiter was very accommodating, just slammed for the dinner rush. I'd definitely return! The neon koi fish and paper umbrellas were stunning.

I am also always appreciative when a sushi place can accommodate my addiction to add cream cheese to any roll- they made it work! Service was prompt and attentive.
