We had a huge project and in the beginning Chad talked a good talk. However, we experienced he has poor communication, extremely cheap and poor quality construction covered up behind walls and floors, significant delays in every step (the longest delay in services was around 5-6 months, despite us following up for updates), and a high turn over rate of staff in his office. Several times, I would clearly communicate about expected services agreed upon, and multiple times the incorrect materials and incorrect construction would be done. Chad has a reputation amongst multiple subcontractors that will not accept work from him now as he has a tendency to not pay his invoices. After work was completed, we were served with a failure to pay notice from a subcontractor. Chad has yet to pay our roofing company that he subcontracted. When I sent an email to him about it they responded they would look into it, but have flat out ignored my follow up emails. Only a year after their services, we have already seen issues from poor quality work. We were so glad to not have to work with them any longer. I do not recommend. read more

They were assigned by the insurance for my claim. It took them a year to rebuild a deck and there were times when no work got done for a few months. I would call them to get updates and they would never call back. I had to get updates though my insurance adjuster. They ordered wood and didn't pay the supplier quick enough so the supplier put a preliminary lien until Chad Smith paid them. They gave multiple finishing dates, but it kept getting pushed back. At the end they never did the full work on the claim and then they lied to the adjuster that the owner told them to not do that work. They are very unprofessional, lack any transparency, is a liar and greedy. I would stay far away from them. read more

I had a plumbing leak issue at the property and once the leak was addressed, my insurance company assigned the Chad Smith Construction to perform the restoration work including drywall, dry rot issues and more. Chad smith and his team are now my GO TO contractor. I went into escrow on a fixer upper, just before the COVID-19 shutdown and my house was not occupiable by a long shot. Chad met with me to go over my immediate goals to be able to get my family into the house and then the wheels started turning. His carpenters, plumbers, electricians and painters were all prompt, courteous, hardworking guys. I met them the first few days to unlock the house and was impressed that they were there waiting for me before our scheduled appointments . As they quickly gained my trust for their hard work and excellent communication I let them set a lock box to hold the key. Then things really kicked into high gear. As with every great project, each time my wife and I came to the house, we would come up with a great new idea. Needless to say it it took longer than planned. Ultimately, we moved into the house amid a Construction zone. The crew kept the place tidy though as they worked . They cleaned up each day as best as they could, so it would be safe for my wife and baby and couldn't have been more courteous. The house came great, and my wife was thrilled with the outcome. I think the thing which impressed me most was the communication. I knew what was going on, and even when I sometimes had to wait on materials and installations, there was a plan. On the final walkthrough I told chad I was really impressed with his communication, as I had been burned by a few contractors in the past. He told me the difference was he was trained as a restoration contractor. When I asked what the different was, he told me a contractor or a tradesman works on a building. It's a project or a jobsite...but a restoration contractor, works on somebody's home. I like that. A++ to chad Smith construction! read more

Our dishwasher flooded and our insurance sent Chad out as our contractor to do the repair work. I'll admit I was skeptical because we hadn't chosen them ourselves, but honestly he was great from the start. He took the time to answer all my questions and wasn't too pushing when we needed time to think about things. He was very professional and patient with us and we took a while to make some decisions throughout the process. His team was also amazing. They were always parked outside early and came to the door at 8am on the dot. They were professional, meticulous and did great work. I honestly cannot say anything about the contractor since I never even got that far. My beautiful home is in ruins from a mini flood caused by our washing machine. Our homeowners insurance provided us with this company to get an estimate from. Instead of the CS gal being responsive and compassionate she was irritated and unresponsive. This guy is a scam I will no longer conduct business with this contractor ever again and this is why my Foreman Sean went out to give estimate for our company Chandlers complete treecare.inc Sean wrote up a formal written proposal stating the description of project which was removal of 2 large fallen trees on a steep hillside in Oakland Sean explained they couldn't get a stump grinder in the back of property with out a crane due to access and location of these large root balls from the tree uprooting and falling over long stories short he refused to pay until legal action started taking place then he decided to pay half and not the full amount until a few days later he then decided to pay the rest very shady and looking for anyway he can scame you please be extra careful when dealing with this company. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I had a pipe burst in our house and the claims adjuster told me early on, "We can connect you with a contractor, but we haven't heard the best things, so if you have one, better to go with them". Well I did go with my contractor who then submitted a bid of $90,000 for the work. The insurance company then said, "Wow, that's high, we're going to send in our contractor to get a quote". Enter Chad Smith. He came through my house did a few measurements and was gone in 30 minutes. While I was suspicious, my suspicion turned to shock when I was told his quote was $45,000! I had the claims adjuster send me the quote and it was total garbage. Some of the rooms were measured wildly incorrectly and the cost of materials was laughable. I tried to call Chad to ask some questions, but his receptionist flat out told me how won't talk to me and I need to call my insurance company. I did and my insurance company basically said you need to prove that your $90k quote is right or we're going with Chad. I called their bluff and paid around $600 each to have two more legit contractors come if for quotes. The two new quotes were for $105,000 and $120,000 repsectively, so the insurance company backed off and paid the claim. However, I will never forget that Chad Smith walked into my house and tried to screw me out of $10's of thousands of dollars. Shame on you... read more

I've dealt with quite a few contractors both in my career and in my personal life, so I've had a little experience when it comes to dealing with contractors. To be quite honest I have come to expect an underwhelming or lower than the expected result when it comes to these experiences. So whenever that isn't the case, especially in today's service world, I feel like it is the exception and deserving of praise. I am heaping praise on Chad Smith Construction today because from management to their work team they performed exceptionally. My Mom had a leak from her bathroom which damaged the downstairs family room ceiling and walls. We ended up filing an insurance claim, the first hurdle we had to clear was getting a contractor out within a reasonable amount of time to fix the damage. The first contractor we were referred to wanted us to wait 3-4 weeks before they could start and assured us no other company would be able to start sooner. The second company we were referred to said they couldn't start any sooner than 6-8 weeks. We began to lose hope that this would be quick and painless until the insurance referral service refereed Chad Smith Construction. His referral was made on a Thursday at 4 pm,, we received a response from Chad approximately 1 hour later around 5 pm., he was ready to set up an estimate appointment for the next day. This was a pleasant surprise! I ended up setting the estimate up a few days later, however, Chad was very flexible with my schedule. Once Chad came out and performed the estimate, he had it quickly sent over to the Insurance team, and literally within days both he and the paperwork were set to go. Chad's team were professionals, they were early to the job each day, and not only did they perform exceptional repair work without making a mess but they were ahead of schedule finishing a full day early. While it is no fun dealing with the hassle of home repairs from a leak, I can't tell you how much better that experience was for us by having Chad Smith Construction handling the repairs for us. It was one of the best experiences I've had with a construction contractor from a personal standpoint. Chad Smith Construction is a stand-up business that I highly recommend. read more

Only go with these folks if you hate your money. Had this company come in for an estimate since they work with my insurance. Their estimate came in 5x higher than what the insurance company estimated. Insurance told me they wouldnt approve so I found an independent contractor that did the same exact work for 10x less. Also another issue which was partially my fault. Is they sent a work authorization to sign which i figured was needed by the insurance to start the process so i signed it. I didn't read it which was my fault but it says there is a $500 fee if you decide not to use them. I was told by Hope that many people do the same thing and sign the form without reading. Needless to say I and many others are out $500 cause we didnt ready. So if you do decide to use them read all the forms. I asked if they could waive the fee since it was the insurance company that denied the work not me and they said no. They would not even give me a discount on the fee. I was going to use them even though they are overpriced but insurance said no and they wont cover the fee either. You can use them if you want but i for one will tell people to stay away. read more

"NIGHTMARE" These people are the worst contractors on the planet. Their work looks to be underneath a handyman. They don't work consistently, so the job will easily take 2 or 3 times longer. Make sure that you know ANY/ALL items NOT in their scope. (Wiring for speakers) however, speakers not in their SCOPE even though speakers was there prior. If it were possible to give negative stars I would. I would strongly encourage anyone and everyone to stay as far away from Chad Smith Construction as possible. They are completely unprofessional. They have no communication and they are crooks. We signed a contract with them in May to do a complete renovation on our kitchen due to water damage. We were also having them re-do our laundry room and a 1/2 bathroom. Come October and everything was still not done. They had only one guy working here to completely gut and put our kitchen back together, along with our laundry room and bathroom. Some days the guy didn't even show up and I was later informed that he had been pulled from our house that day to work on a different project. They painted our kitchen ceiling the complete wrong color, saying that they must have missed my multiple text messages and emails with the correct paint color. They put my garbage disposal on the opposite side of the sink from where I told them I wanted it. They left our electrical outlets not working for over a month and they left our lighting in our ceiling not even in for months. They charged us for installs that hadn't even been completed yet. We fired Chad Smith Construction for their lack of communication and their complete lack of customer service. Sorry to say that they made off with quite a bit of our money. Again, never hire Chad Smith Construction for any job, no matter how small it is. They have absolutely no business even being in the construction industry. read more

All they needed to do was clean up the broken glass and board my door from a break-in. That didn't happen. In fact, they ruined the door so badly that the entire door needed replacement. They were early to the job each day, followed COVID precautions, and kept the house clean during the entire project. This company is so professional! Truly a class act! I hired them to redo our upstairs master after a tree fell on our roof. It was stressful to have that happen ( luckily nobody was hurt). The guys from Chad Smith Construction were so professional and clean. They always picked up their work area at the end of the day.
