I have quite the love/hate relationship with this place. Mostly that I effing hate it and would love if there were a better taco place in the area. I work in the Reliant area, which probably has worse food choices than most exurban outlet mall strip centers. So, when a place that has passable Tex-Mex opens, of course I'm going to eat it. For the year or so that this place has been open, I've been for lunch about 20 times or so. It seems to get worse every time. Walking in, you are faced with a clusterfuck of a line and insane menu. Eventually one of the girls will yell at you to take your order. They will continue to snap at you throughout the ordering process. You will then pay like, $10 for three tacos and be handed a buzzer. At this point you will notice that the clientele here is alarmingly obese, even by Houston standards. Also not exactly classy crowd either; but hey, this is a 24-hour taco joint on the south loop so that's to be expected. Coming here at 2AM on a weekend sounds like a great way to get shot. I can only imagine what it's like then. Anyways, you will eventually get buzzed and make your way to the pick up area. This is another total cluster where people crowd around a tiny area, fighting to get their food from equally confused staff members. You are now free to sit down and eat or leave, assuming you were handed the right order. I have had my order messed up more times than I can count, been given the wrong order, simply never been given my order, been given a plate when i asked for take out, and I'm sure i'm leaving something out. The food is actually pretty good for fast food, though. However, the tortillas are a like cakey for my taste and everything seems like it's going to give you a heart attack. Once I got the full-size sloppy beef fajita burrito and literally almost died. Usually I just get a lunch special or 3 tacos (I like the fajita chicken with cheese and guac) As horrendous as the service is, I've never had *bad* food from here. I wish I could be more descriptive, but really it's just mediocre generic tex-mex. Think one part Pappasitos, four parts Taco Bell. Yes, I will probably be coming back, but I will bitch about it. My friend and I decided to drop by Chacho's for breakfast on one Saturday morning. From the drive-through, we saw the sign that they sell menudo on weekend, so we decided to order two large cups to go. From the drive through window, we saw the manager was tasting the menudo and making some changes to the soup before pouring them into cups, for us. We thought that was a little odd, but we did not think much of it at the time. When we got home, to our surprises, the menudo we bought was the worst menudo we have ever tasted! The soup has no authentic menudo flavor at all, just oily and greasy, overshadowed by the smell of chili powder and camino powder. The hominy was undercooked, and still half crunchy frozen. The actual tripe pieces are fatty and simply stale. My friend and I looked at each other in dismay. We called the manager and informed him of our dissatisfaction in their food. The manager coldly said "we aren't giving you money back, but we can give you a gift card or some food of equivalent value." So we informed him that we would be on our way to talk to him in person. When we got there, we noticed that the manager was hiding behind in his office, even though he knew we were out waiting for him. I had to make my presence loud and clear that the manager needs to show up and to address this issue immediately. After roughly ten to fifteen minutes of wait time, the manager finally showed up, and again, refused to refund the money for the awful menudo we purchased. We asked the manager where in the store that says "no refund allowed"? He quickly pointed at the tiny fine print at the bottom of the in-store menu. When we told him that "no refund allowed" wasn't explicitly stated in the drive through. He shrugged and asked us if we still want to order food or to get a gift card. We told him instead that we want the number to their corporate office. He wrote down the number, and we walked away without ordering any more nasty food or getting a gift card. I called the corporate number the following Monday, and was told that the only way to raise our complaint is to get in touch with Diane or the owner John Burke directly via their email addresses. Unfortunately, it is their typical stonewalling way of addressing customer complaints. Two weeks went by, and so far, there are no responses from either Diane or the owner. Stated plainly. Buyers/diners/customers be warned. I would stay away from Chacho's if you were me, and take your business elsewhere. The moment you walk into Chacho's and order food, you implicitly consent to take on the risk of getting nasty and undercooked food with no possibilities of getting your cold hard earned money refunded. You can also forget about getting any quality customer service from Chacho's. They do not care about you. read more

The margaritas are always a hit, not the tastiest but they are strong. The drive through I is always a bad experience.. today it was slow and people who had ordered after me were served first and I ended up waiting nearly an hour in the drive through for 4nachos and a quesadilla. One star because they serve frozen Jack and Coke. That's about it. I really want to give Chachos more than one star because they have decent quesadillas, but the lack of customer service and degrading quality of foods over my past few visits aren't worthy. If I were reviewing this location a year ago, I would probably give them three stars, but recently the food is not good - even for the price. On my most recent visit I chose the drive thru. We got home only to find that the chips for our shrimp nachos weren't even edible; they were more like cardboard. We called the restaurant to ask if we could take them back to trade them for a new batch. They were a bit reluctant as the manager told us - "All sales are final." - but after some explaining that we could not eat what we paid for, he said to bring them back in and he would see what he could do. We considered ourselves lucky that we would be able to get a fresh batch. When we showed up to the restaurant, the manager opened a new bag of chips and explained that different chips are used for the nachos than for the regular chips & salsa. Okaaay...so what? They taste like cardboard. Substituting salsa-grade chips obviously wasn't happening, so he said he would give us a chicken quesadilla as a trade off. Not what we wanted, but whatever. We just wanted to eat! What he didn't tell us is that he was going to give us a smaller than normal portion. We essentially paid for $8 shrimp nachos and received a $4 chicken quesadilla. AND - I had to drive there twice for it. AND - the manager was so proud of the way that he treated my brother-in-law that he had to get the security officer to notify him when his food was ready. (Spineless, AND no customer service? What class!) I like to give credit where credit is due. This place has a very urban crowd (Can I be honest? It's plain ghetto!) and I have seen the kind of people they deal with especially late at night. I get that. But when I have done nothing for you to treat me with attitude, that's when I'll no longer support your business. Sorry Chachos. Even though the food is cheap, the quality is inconsistent. I've only been to the Westheimer location previous to this visit, and used to always enjoy going for breakfast/brunch. But I came for to-go at this location prior to a girl's night out. I did notice that the serving station was a little unorganized. Numbers were displayed all over the screen before they were ready so many of my friends would be confused as to why their number was called. I ordered the half order of spinach and mushroom quesadilla and was so happy that I did. My girlfriends got the full size and they were the size of pizzas! My quesadilla was very yummy. There was just the right amount of cheese that allowed my teeth to sink into the tortilla. My friend did mention, however, that they charge more for the half size at this location than on Westheimer. I don't know if this is true or not, but it is a good thing to keep in mind. Sadly, I am most likely not going to be visiting this location again, but I know it's not the end of the road of Chacho's for me because I do crave their nachos or barbacoa from time to time. read more

I got up to use the restroom and returned to my table to find my food had been thrown out. When I asked to speak to the manager, the person that came to the counter acted as if he could care less. Went here for the first time after work because I had heard good reviews on it. I had spent a good amount of time looking at the menu online to see exactly what I wanted before going thru the drive thru. I was excited to get the bean and cheese big burrito.. but they told me they had ran out of beans. My feelings were hurt... Update 8/20/16: I have been a loyal customer for 2 years and I have to say that my most recent visit via drive thru at the 610 and Bufflo Speedway location was horrendous. I ordered two large chips and salsa. I asked for the creamy cilantro sauce instead of the red salsa. When she said $11.85 I was concerned. When I asked for a receipt, I discovered she had charged me $3.49 each for two 16 oz salsa. I was under the impression the salsa was free. When I told her I wasn't about to spend $7 on salsa she took my food bag and gave me a partial refund then tried to hand the chips to me without salsa. Uhm, no thanks. I wanted a full refund which I got but she slammed the glass door in my face after handing me the money. It takes just one bad experience to ruin it all. Despite my love affair with Chachos, I won't be going back. Ever. Rude and ghetto employees can make or break your company. I'll miss my weekly morning visits for tacos and weekend evening trips for nachos. ------------------------------------------- The long lines inside and in the drive thru are worth waiting through. Their loaded steak nachos and steak taco for lunch or dinner are so good. The steak has great flavor. I highly recommend adding cilantro and their special creamy cilantro sauce to anything you buy. They don't skimp on cheese, guacamole, or sour cream. In the mood for breakfast? It's served all day. Their potato and egg is out of the world. I usually add some bacon end its mouth watering. If you order breakfast taco's in the drive thru before 10 am, you get a discount. Their tea is terrible though. However, if you're looking for a good buzz, try their frozen margarita's! They're really good! The service is slow and some times the workers are a bit rude. The food is just too good to pass up though. read more

There aren't too many late night options in the area, so when we were hungry we decided to go through the drive thru. The food itself isn't horrible for a late night option. But someone backed into us in the drive-thru lane and no one from the restaurant even asked if we were okay even though it happened right in front of the drive-thru window. Also my boyfriend ended up getting very sick, the next day in the form of apparent food poisoning. They also serve beignets instead of sopapillas, which I find just strange? First time here. Won't be the last. Food was delicious. Frozen drinks for my wife and mother were awesome. Great location if you're staying down in the Medical Center & NRG Park area. Night we were there, it seemed as though there was staff shortage working the dining room area. I noticed food sitting on tables well after customers had left. 2.5-3 stars. Good eats for cheap. Chachos is by no means fancy, but it serves it's purpose if you're looking for margaritas, chips, and good dipping sauces. In fact, there's a sauce bar where you can have your way with as many different sauces as you'd like. You can also eat all the chips you want. The biggest pitfall is the lack of cleanliness. The woman's restroom is disgusting and the floors in the dining areas are pretty stick and gross. There's just something about dirty restrooms and dirty floors that kinda kills my appetite as I start thinking about what lurks in the kitchen. Wow, where do I even start?? We ordered nachos and were told by the employee in drive thru they were served a particular way so that's what we expected. Well, get to the window and it's not how we were told they were going to be. The employee, whose name is Marcus, along with his rude manager,Jaime, proceed to tell us that's how they're served after we were just told the opposite and had paid our money. Although the order was inaccurate, we were still going to take the food and eat it anyway. I asked for a cup of sour cream and was told I have to pay extra. Are you serious? You lie to me about how my food is going to be served on top of crappy service and you're seriously hounding me about some change for a sour cream??
