Chacho's is one of those nostalgic places for me. Back in my younger days many, many years ago, Chacho's on Westheimer used to be the after hours spots after a night of debauchery. Those days are long behind me, but I had to go back to see if it still hit the same way. I swear, this place always looks like it is closed because the parking lot is always empty during daylight hours. I'm not sure how it is at night. We actually showed up after some morning errands for an early lunch. The building is old and dated and the cleanliness is a little questionable. Customer service was ok. No smiles or pleasantries, but the job got done. I don't even remember what I used to order back in the day, but these days, Chacho's makes it's rounds on social media for their famous pile high nachos. I went with the nachos but steakhouse beef fajita. They have three different sizes but even the small is substantial. I went with a small but it came out piled high on a plate. They understand the assignment when it comes to compiling a proper plate of nachos. Lay down some chips, throw in your toppings and repeat the process. Not chip is left behind nor do they skimp on toppings. Is it the best nachos I have ever eaten? Absolutely not, but it's good and filling. My dining companion had some breakfast items that apparently were not that good. I didn't even have a desire to try it. My craving for nostalgic food was satisfied. I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon but I'm sure I will at some point. read more

Chacho's - Picadillo Beef Mexican Plate - Tex-Mex Near Me - Houston, Texas

Nasty inside! I can see why more people were driving through than eating in. The bar area is closed and there are signs all crammed in the area. Tables had not been cleared in so long the guacamole was black. The bar condiments area was swarming with gnats. We shared the Piccadillo tacos and they were average not good. The crispy shells were a tad stale but stuffed full. Rice was okay, a tad greasy but hot. Beans lukewarm. Nacho chips were stale and the cheese is liquid out of a can. At least five people working and the manager running off loiterers. Price point inexpensive, portions large but for stale & below average food, we won't be back. I should add we Ubered there from our Medical Center hotel. Had we been in our own car we wouldn't have stayed. I understand they just reopened after being closed on the inside and drive through only since Covid. read more

First of all they say open 24hrs so i went to the one on 610 arrived at 6 ,sat in the drivethru line over five minutes before they yelled over the intercom they were closed. I drove to the one on Westheimer arrived there 615am only to be told they were closed. This has happened everyday this week. They never get the order correct ....potatos chorizo bacon and beans..no egg...i say it 3 times and always get egg. i am done with this place. although i do like the breakfast taco the fews times they get it correct. read more

I was at this location today, aftrer not being here for a minute and Maria, in the drive-thru, would not take a $20 bill because she said "It was washed and didn't look right." and "The last time she took one that looked like this they didn't take it." I don't know who she was referring to, but it was an old $20 bill that I was recently given in a Christmas card. I rarely have or use cash, but I did not want to use my credit card at this restaurant for various reasons, but I was forced to. Sure, I could have driven off, but I really wanted what i ordered (even though my order wasn't totally correct). Maria says that she was not supplied with a Counterfeit Detector Pen to check the bill, but I think that she was hung up on it being an older bill. Why is this location or your company not accepting older bills? Why was I made to feel like I did something wrong? Why didn't she have a marker? read more

Chacho's - And I thought Torchy's tacos were expensive! - Tex-Mex Near Me - Houston, Texas

I've been going to Chacho's in San Antonio since 2012, today was my first time at the Houston, Chachos's location. All I can say is the same mediocre costumer service from employees, however, food is worth the poor costumer service attitude, That is something corporate has probably overlooked, overall, 2020 changed a lot, but Chachos costumer service and food stayed the same. Ordered the Steakhouse quesadilla, size and price came out to a reasonable price, same quality recipe and taste. read more

Hello, this is Ashley B. Let's get started with the review! I ordered the picadillo ground beef nachos in a size medium because the small is too small and the large is too much. It was so delicious, it's just something about that queso that's addictive. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it. Maybe next time I'll try to get a picture, but you won't regret it. TL:DR - food is still good. Drinks are strong. Customer service needs a lot of work. My two recent visits to Chachos were supremely disappointing. I bought one of the breakfast plates and paid with my card. Next day, I was on a flight to New Mexico and received a call from my card's fraud department. Apparently someone was trying to use my card at a race track. I had only used that card at Chachos for the year, so I thought that was a bit strange. Because of that, I haven't frequented Chachos as much. Placed an order tonight and almost immediately after the cashier told me the order total (with attitude), I asked if I could add wings. No response. Waited a couple of minutes, no response. Drove up to the window and asked again, to which they responded it was too late to add wings to my order. So y'all couldn't have just said that at the intercom? And ya seriously couldn't have rung me up for wings and have me wait (which I happily would've done). It's crazy because Chachos is a place I want to love and brag on but, good grief, they make it hard for you to want to root for them. read more

Will never go to Chachos again in life! Poor management, customer service and not that great food. I would come about once a week because my husband likes them, but never again! They ran out of ground beef, which would have been fine, BUT they had an employee come to the car and take my payment before letting me know I couldn't order something else instead of the ground beef tacos I was expecting. However, I was trapped with two cars in front of me, and had to wait 30 minutes before they cleared them. There was no way for me to leave. So, when I finally got to the window, I asked of if I could order a chicken quesadilla and they told me to drive back around to order since the sign says no add ons at the window. I told them that since I was at the window, that they should have let me order since no one was on front of me. I was pissed and let them know how messed up that was and asked for the manager who pointed to the sign saying he couldn't take the order. I mean...really? I can read the sign! In any case, they made me enraged and I cursed them out and left. It was totally ridiculous and I'm saddened that they made me get aggressive with them. Hell....their tacos are salty as hell, but I would only come cause my husband likes them. Like I said, never again! I will let everyone I know not to do business with that place. They deserve zero stars!!' read more

I've been kicking it with Chacho's for about a decade now and it still has yet to disappoint. The food is awesome in both taste and portions, especially for the reasonable prices. I love that it's open 24 hours and I can go and get whatever I want anytime I want it. I love a place where I can have breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast, and lunch ANYTIME. And I've yet to have any issues with the service. I intend to continue making my way through that menu. The place feels festive with a relaxed atmosphere to me. read more

Um... I'm going to give it to you straight. This is drunk food. Although this was my first time here, and I have never had it drunk. I wouldn't even it try it again. The best part about the experience was the frozen strawberry margarita, it was pretty strong and very cheap! The guacamole is literally avocado and large slices of white onion. YUCK!!! It had nothing else to it, no tomato, cilantro or anything just ONIONS!!! The pico was extremely thick, they didn't not try to chop any of the vegetables, the cilantro had thick long stems, it was basically a cilantro salad. And the shredded chicken looked and tasted like they got it out of a can. Also the expo was all over the place, our number never got called, my quesadillas were sitting in the window cold and all we were waiting on were NACHOS. I understand it's rodeo season but it was just a mess! read more

Used to be great.. Food turned into somewhat "okay". Additionally, they started to seem messy. To avoid having to see how the interior looks, I would advise using the drive-thru. I had one of their enchiladas, which tasted okay. If the interior hadn't been so dark and dingy, I would have given it a level four or four star rating. But, drive-thru service is extremely slow, requiring continuous repetition of the order due to their inability to accurately repeat it back to you. Just to see them warming up food to present to you, get to the window and watch them do it. read more

Chacho's is a fun restaurant that seems perfect for a group of friends who want to have some cheap food and some cheap adult beverages. The place looks like a converted car dealership - open floor plan massive garage type doors and a bar that looks like an addition. Let's face it, the food is not very good. It plentiful but not very tasty. Too much cheese on everything. My party tried the chicken burrito (gigantic), quesadilla, chips and beef enchiladas. It was all ok. Nobody finished partially because of the quantity and partially because of quality. the readymade frozen drinks like 1800 margaritas, vodka and coke, etc are probably what brings the folks in. Again if you think of this place as a casual place for drinks and cheap food then come and enjoy. read more

On my way back from work, I was headed to visit my sister in sugar land and was driving up on S. Main and 610 and took the wrong exit. Driving on the feeder, I spotted Chacho's and immediately made up my mind for lunch. I had only visited the location on Westheimer, so definitely wanted to try this location. I went with a beef carbon full size burrito and a Gordita plate. The burrito was loaded with beef, cheese and rice. They also add guacamole to all their burritos, and I asked for vegetarian beans inside the burrito as the regular beans have the residue from the flesh of the swine!. Also, I asked them to remove any sour cream from my burrito. The gorditas were pretty good too, accompanied with rice n beans. I was running a 10K about 3 hours later and wanted enough food in my system for energy. They have the self serving station with all the condiments and salsa. I loaded up the salsa (red and green chilli) along with pico de gallo and cilantro cream sauce. My burritos and gorditas were ready in less than 5 minutes. It was served in one of the best hand made flour tortillas I've had in Texas. Bursting with flavor, perfect temperature and the beef tasted amazing. I devoured the burrito in about 8-9 minutes. They also serve one of the best sweet Ice tea. It was really good and not from the powder. To my amazement, McDonald's has pretty good sweet tea also! As I was about to leave, I glanced at the bar, and saw a group of about 15 Black Biker Gang. That was most impressive. I had heard about them/legend but never had witnessed them in person till now. I wanted to take a picture with them, but they seemed pretty occupied. I saw their state of the art Harley's parked outside in a systematic way (probably based on their ranking). It was truly one of those things I scratched off my bucket list. Overall, I had a great time at Chacho's. read more

I like chachos for a last minute and late night meal that will fill you up. Definitely go through drive through and enjoy a taco.

The staff is rude and has u waiting. Only one line open during lunch hours. Saw a little kid in there through the window, I guess they have a daycare in there as well. Never coming back. Always love Chacho's. Just wish they would reopen the restaurant. I used to frequent the Chachos in San Antonio, TX so I was excited to learn there was a branch in Houston. Unfortunately, the quality at this place is lacking. The interior needs a revamping as bathroom area is disgusting in addition to outdated wear and tear in the main area. I have worked in the service industry before... so when I see cooks on their phones and then proceed to start cooking without proper hand washing ... it explains why I got food poisoning once when I ate here. My guess is poor management as the staff seems to do what they want. I have seen employees cop an attitude with patrons and no manager to be found. Don't get me wrong... their margs and pile high nachos are awesome. I have also tried their breakfast quesadillas and it was good as well. If you eat here... it is hit or miss. read more

Inexpensive Tex-Mex.. if you want a quick bite (to go) or looking for a place to eat after a late night of hanging out Chachos is the place! I think Im addicted to their lunch specials.. they are super cheap (around $6) and you get so much food: drink, salad, nachos (with fajita chicken), annnnnnnnnd a dessert! Chachos has a salsa bar for all of the salsa lovers that is clean for the most part. Take it from me, sometimes it could use a little more TLC. My fav is the mango salsa, which they almost always run out of, so go early and grab it when you can. When you go inside to eat, the lines move quickly, which is a plus. And their drinks are pretty strong. Altogether, a great place for dining in and out, the restaurant is spacious so when its to full capacity, it is packed! Great for late night or lunch, not a date spot. read more

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! We went here for happy hour on Friday and what a mistake! First, the place is crazy busy, and you'd think that means it's good right? Um, no. The windows are disgusting. I walked up to find fingerprint covered doors. Yuck. I almost couldn't see through them. The tables are filthy and covered in some sticky substances. I rested my elbow on the table and my shirt got stuck. YUCK. There are no waiters, just counter service. We waited in the bar line for 30 minutes to be told that they didn't have soda glasses so they said we'd have to go to the food line. I felt like I was at the carnival or the Ren Fest. Ridiculous! We then stood in the food line for 20 minutes. There is zero organization. There are 4 registers and it is truly chaos to get up to the register. We ordered a large chips and queso ($7.29) that tasted like melted plastic. It was so synthetic tasting! I think it's just a giant bar of melted Velveeta. We ended up eating about 20% of it. Other people got nachos and burritos. Overall the food took forever, it was taco bell quality, and I absolutely wouldn't eat here again. In addition to the chaos and bad food, the place is SO loud. They have actually taken sheet metal and nailed it to the walls. It is crazy loud and I hated that I couldn't hear people right next to me. There is nothing redeeming about this place. read more

This is truly a hole in the wall eating establishment, which I do not mind at all. There are several deals, especially for lunch, that has lots of food for low amounts of charge. I truly do not have a problem with the way things are set up, but they do need to be more mindful when fixing food. Speed with great service would not be a bad thing for them! I have to ask the fine workers there...how do you miss ingredients on a chicken nacho order? You know you need chicken...but what comprises nachos...cheese and chips right?!? How the heck did you forget to put the cheese on the nachos? Don't believe me, take a look at the nachos that I took a picture of and posted here! Chicken...check! Chips...check! Cheese...wait...where is the cheese? 3 ingredients people! Come on...get your head in the game! Taste wise, the food is decent. I liked my pork torta...I do question if they actually use chicken for their hot wings though. The meat's texture was suspect! Wish they had virgin daiquiris because the daiquiri machine looked refreshing! Portion size is definitely not a problem. I love that they let you get your own sauces and things of that nature. Sometimes I want heavy sauce on my items, and hate to ask a grumpy person that is worried about my waist! When I want cheap food in a hole in a wall atmosphere, and I am on that side of town...believe I will be at Chacho's! Just know that I will never order the beignets again though! My New Orleans palette would not allow me to eat such a horrible knock off of a New Orleans dish! It taste like a doughnut...not a beignet! read more
