Chacho's is one of those nostalgic places for me. Back in my younger days many, many years ago, Chacho's on Westheimer used to be the after hours spots after a night of debauchery. Those days are long behind me, but I had to go back to see if it still hit the same way. I swear, this place always looks like it is closed because the parking lot is always empty during daylight hours. I'm not sure how it is at night. We actually showed up after some morning errands for an early lunch. The building is old and dated and the cleanliness is a little questionable. Customer service was ok. No smiles or pleasantries, but the job got done. I don't even remember what I used to order back in the day, but these days, Chacho's makes it's rounds on social media for their famous pile high nachos. I went with the nachos but steakhouse beef fajita. They have three different sizes but even the small is substantial. I went with a small but it came out piled high on a plate. They understand the assignment when it comes to compiling a proper plate of nachos. Lay down some chips, throw in your toppings and repeat the process. Not chip is left behind nor do they skimp on toppings. Is it the best nachos I have ever eaten? Absolutely not, but it's good and filling. My dining companion had some breakfast items that apparently were not that good. I didn't even have a desire to try it. My craving for nostalgic food was satisfied. I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon but I'm sure I will at some point. read more

I was at this location today, aftrer not being here for a minute and Maria, in the drive-thru, would not take a $20 bill because she said "It was washed and didn't look right." and "The last time she took one that looked like this they didn't take it." I don't know who she was referring to, but it was an old $20 bill that I was recently given in a Christmas card. I rarely have or use cash, but I did not want to use my credit card at this restaurant for various reasons, but I was forced to. TL:DR - food is still good. Drinks are strong. Customer service needs a lot of work. My two recent visits to Chachos were supremely disappointing. I bought one of the breakfast plates and paid with my card. Next day, I was on a flight to New Mexico and received a call from my card's fraud department. Apparently someone was trying to use my card at a race track. I had only used that card at Chachos for the year, so I thought that was a bit strange. Because of that, I haven't frequented Chachos as much. Placed an order tonight and almost immediately after the cashier told me the order total (with attitude), I asked if I could add wings. No response. Waited a couple of minutes, no response. Drove up to the window and asked again, to which they responded it was too late to add wings to my order. Will never go to Chachos again in life! Poor management, customer service and not that great food. I would come about once a week because my husband likes them, but never again! They ran out of ground beef, which would have been fine, BUT they had an employee come to the car and take my payment before letting me know I couldn't order something else instead of the ground beef tacos I was expecting. However, I was trapped with two cars in front of me, and had to wait 30 minutes before they cleared them. There was no way for me to leave. I've been kicking it with Chacho's for about a decade now and it still has yet to disappoint. The food is awesome in both taste and portions, especially for the reasonable prices. I love that it's open 24 hours and I can go and get whatever I want anytime I want it. I love a place where I can have breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast, and lunch ANYTIME. And I've yet to have any issues with the service. I intend to continue making my way through that menu. The place feels festive with a relaxed atmosphere to me. read more

Um... I'm going to give it to you straight. This is drunk food. Although this was my first time here, and I have never had it drunk. I wouldn't even it try it again. The best part about the experience was the frozen strawberry margarita, it was pretty strong and very cheap! The guacamole is literally avocado and large slices of white onion. YUCK!!! It had nothing else to it, no tomato, cilantro or anything just ONIONS!!! The pico was extremely thick, they didn't not try to chop any of the vegetables, the cilantro had thick long stems, it was basically a cilantro salad. And the shredded chicken looked and tasted like they got it out of a can. Used to be great.. Food turned into somewhat "okay". Additionally, they started to seem messy. To avoid having to see how the interior looks, I would advise using the drive-thru. I had one of their enchiladas, which tasted okay. If the interior hadn't been so dark and dingy, I would have given it a level four or four star rating. But, drive-thru service is extremely slow, requiring continuous repetition of the order due to their inability to accurately repeat it back to you. On my way back from work, I was headed to visit my sister in sugar land and was driving up on S. Main and 610 and took the wrong exit. Driving on the feeder, I spotted Chacho's and immediately made up my mind for lunch. I had only visited the location on Westheimer, so definitely wanted to try this location. I went with a beef carbon full size burrito and a Gordita plate. The burrito was loaded with beef, cheese and rice. They also add guacamole to all their burritos, and I asked for vegetarian beans inside the burrito as the regular beans have the residue from the flesh of the swine!. Also, I asked them to remove any sour cream from my burrito. The gorditas were pretty good too, accompanied with rice n beans. I was running a 10K about 3 hours later and wanted enough food in my system for energy. They have the self serving station with all the condiments and salsa. I loaded up the salsa (red and green chilli) along with pico de gallo and cilantro cream sauce. My burritos and gorditas were ready in less than 5 minutes. It was served in one of the best hand made flour tortillas I've had in Texas. Bursting with flavor, perfect temperature and the beef tasted amazing. I devoured the burrito in about 8-9 minutes. They also serve one of the best sweet Ice tea. It was really good and not from the powder. To my amazement, McDonald's has pretty good sweet tea also! As I was about to leave, I glanced at the bar, and saw a group of about 15 Black Biker Gang. That was most impressive. I had heard about them/legend but never had witnessed them in person till now. I wanted to take a picture with them, but they seemed pretty occupied. I saw their state of the art Harley's parked outside in a systematic way (probably based on their ranking). I used to frequent the Chachos in San Antonio, TX so I was excited to learn there was a branch in Houston. Unfortunately, the quality at this place is lacking. The interior needs a revamping as bathroom area is disgusting in addition to outdated wear and tear in the main area. I have worked in the service industry before... so when I see cooks on their phones and then proceed to start cooking without proper hand washing ... it explains why I got food poisoning once when I ate here. TL;dr The guy who work late evenings is a menace and no one should be subjected to him. Don't go here until he is dismissed. I work overnight near this place and it used to be a haven for my coworkers and me as a break from the regular fast food restaurants that are open overnight. Let me just say the experience has gotten progressively worse over the years to the point that none of my coworkers will go there anymore. I have a weakness for the enchiladas so I dealt with the ever worsening food quality, the long lines at the drive thru, and the more often than not rude service you get from several (not all) of the employees. The final kicker for me has been the guy who works late evening/overnight at the register. I never caught his name but he's the middle aged black guy who could or could not be the manager. In my last four visits I have seen him come out to the drive way and cuss at people in their cars, throw the bags of food and credit cards back at them, castigate people at the window, and overall just have a very unpleasant disposition. Well tonight before work I go in and of course there's a long line at the drive thru. That's fine, but I'm noticing the 2 to 3 cars ahead of me are waiting at the kiosk and I'm not hearing the microphone takt their order. I pay attention to the car in front of me and see that they're not yelling their order into the microphone and just drive up. At this point I'm at the kiosk and after a few minutes I yelled out hello and spoke into it to see if it were down and were we just going to have to order at the window. After approximately 10 minutes of waiting in that same spot, I got no response asking for my order so I pulled up behind the car at the window. After waiting another 5 minutes there I get to window and greet the man who tells me I was "messed up" and I wasn't supposed to order at the window. I told him I didn't know the kiosk was working as I had been sitting in that spot for 10 minutes and never had anyone ask me for my order. In fact I had seen him look right at me and turned away so what was I supposed to assume besides that broken down dilapidated kiosk wasn't working (again). He said that wasn't his problem and that he didn't take my order cause they were "going through an issue" and that I had to go back around to the back of the line which was now at least 9-10 cars deep. I tried to explain my case, I had been waiting in line for 25 minutes, I called out to see if the kiosk was even working which historically it was known for going out from time to time and you had to order from the window, I had waited 10 minutes at that kiosk anyway and never had anyone say anything to me, and told him I had to get to work. He responded by asking are you going back around or not? I told him I had no time so he closed the window on me. I normally don't leave complaints, much less reviews, especially of this length but I need people to know this was not some random bad experience and I'm just someone who wants to be a "Karen". This place has consistently gone down hill but it was tolerable until this guy working the register that I described got there. I'm surprised I haven't seen some news story where someone has done something drastic to him. He is that bad of an individual and if Chachos had a "Contact Us' section on their webpage I would let them know about their employee who is a cancer on the entire customer service industry. He should immediately be dismissed and discouraged from ever working around people again for not only the peace of mind of the people he would interact with but his own safety. read more

Inexpensive Tex-Mex.. if you want a quick bite (to go) or looking for a place to eat after a late night of hanging out Chachos is the place! I think Im addicted to their lunch specials.. they are super cheap (around $6) and you get so much food: drink, salad, nachos (with fajita chicken), annnnnnnnnd a dessert! Chachos has a salsa bar for all of the salsa lovers that is clean for the most part. Take it from me, sometimes it could use a little more TLC. My fav is the mango salsa, which they almost always run out of, so go early and grab it when you can. When you go inside to eat, the lines move quickly, which is a plus. And their drinks are pretty strong. Altogether, a great place for dining in and out, the restaurant is spacious so when its to full capacity, it is packed! I wasn't sure what to expect really heading into this place based on the reviews, but it pretty much lived up to the reviews. It's always packed late night, which is one reason we'd never frequented it, but we stopped in one afternoon mainly to test out the frozen drinks, and I can't say they seemed that strong. Definitely not a bad deal if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek a margarita here. Probably a sweet deal at HH, and the food is definitely cheap, which is nice if you're looking to save some money. It's fairly dark inside, not that well maintained and the tables are in fact as sticky as honey. Not sure if I'll be back or not, but time will tell. It fills the need it sets out to. read more

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! We went here for happy hour on Friday and what a mistake! First, the place is crazy busy, and you'd think that means it's good right? Um, no. The windows are disgusting. I walked up to find fingerprint covered doors. Yuck. I almost couldn't see through them. The tables are filthy and covered in some sticky substances. I rested my elbow on the table and my shirt got stuck. YUCK. There are no waiters, just counter service. We waited in the bar line for 30 minutes to be told that they didn't have soda glasses so they said we'd have to go to the food line. I felt like I was at the carnival or the Ren Fest. Ridiculous! We then stood in the food line for 20 minutes. There is zero organization. There are 4 registers and it is truly chaos to get up to the register. We ordered a large chips and queso ($7.29) that tasted like melted plastic. It was so synthetic tasting! I think it's just a giant bar of melted Velveeta. We ended up eating about 20% of it. Other people got nachos and burritos. Overall the food took forever, it was taco bell quality, and I absolutely wouldn't eat here again. In addition to the chaos and bad food, the place is SO loud. This is truly a hole in the wall eating establishment, which I do not mind at all. There are several deals, especially for lunch, that has lots of food for low amounts of charge.
