My experience here was so good! My friend and I went for dinner and not only were the servings a good portion for the price but taste was great too! I'm extremely picky w my pani puri so I was apprehensive after reading a few past reviews but don't listen to them- ITS SO AO GOOD. The owner was so sweet and interactive w his customers you can tell he really cares. We ordered three things: samosa chaat, pani puri/Gol goppe, and Papdi bhalla chaat. Highly recommend the pani puri and samosa chaat. You can skip on the papdi bhalla chaat and maybe ask only for papdi chaat bc the bhalla/vada wasn't fresh and didn't taste good in the dish. The food is amazing! Service is excellent and educational. I enjoyed every minute of eating and learning about authentic cuisine.

We ordered a variety of dishes and everything tasted great. My favorite was the aloo parata ( very fresh and authentic) and the kesar pista falooda . The North Indian thali and chole batura were pretty neat . Vibrant ambience ,good choice of songs played and the play room space kept the kids engaged . I love Indian food and have been eating it for decades, but Chaatwala was an entirely new experience. The menu is comprised of lots of different forms of chaat (street food) from all over India. I hesitate to call it Indian tapas, but it's a reasonable comparison. Jay (sp?), the owner, explained all the various menu offerings and, after picking out a couple dishes ourselves, we put ourselves in his capable hands and worked our way through the menu. Every single dish was delicious. The outstanding food was enhanced by Jay's descriptions and explanations. He's a passionate ambassador. The guy running the shop is a great guy... Very friendly to talk to and he will explain everything that they have on the menu. However, expect half the portion of what you're paying for. I ordered a gol gulps dish and a pav baaji dish... it was quite tasty, however it was all sauce.. hardly any vegetables in there... the fillings for the gol guppas... non existent... unfortunately I will not be going back... for the price... you should be able to get more food. read more

Newly opened Chaat place in Elden Street in Herndon. Chaat are cheap savory snacks served as street side snacks in many Asian countries. The place is located inside a shopping complex with plenty of parking . Once inside you are greeted with friendly staff. Their menu is super small and has a few chaats and couple of well know Indian delicacies. Upon recommendation from the host we ordered their chole bature and also a chat variant. The chole bature was flavorful and different considering its not fried but toasted instead. The vada pav was dry. The chaat lacked flavor and punch. Typical chats have explosion of flavors because of the endless possibilities of things you can add in them. I hope they add more chaat variants, sticking true to their name and add more value to money for their offerings. read more

I asked the owner if the Samosa was spicey.. and while looking past me (because he completely avoided all eye contact with me) said "no, ma'am" ... well it was super spicey and I couldn't eat it. Actually everything we ordered was too spicey to eat. The moong dal halwa was burnt. Honestly I wouldn't be compelled to leave a review but the owner was so rude to me, maybe because I offended him asking if the food was spicey? Service here was excellent! The owner takes a lot of pride in his restaurant and went out of his way to greet every customer and ask them how the food is. There is a game room to go to while you wait for your food which was a very cool touch. I celebrated my birthday here at the end of January and the owner brought out the cake my family brought for me with candles on it. He also gave us extra dessert on the house and played a "happy birthday" song on the speakers. It was a great moment and I'm so glad I celebrated at Chaatwala!!!! read more

Today, was an impromptu decision to try Chaatwala at Super Club of India. Our plan was to go to Sprouts but took a little detour and it was worth it. Ordered Gol-gappa-2 orders and pav bhaji. The puri was crunchy and crisp. The filling had the right flavors, pani tasted amazing with boondi. Put it altogether and in one bite, the flavors exploded in our mouth, yummm! Then the pav bhaji, tasty, with squeeze of lime and with some sprinkled fine chopped onions, added the oomph. The pav, buttered and made crispy but yet soft. Take a piece of pav and then when topped with bhaji, you taste nice blends of spices in vegetable gravy. Nice fragrantful and flavorful! What makes the experience even better is the owner of Chaatwala, Jai. His sense of humor. We ordered the first two items and then said need another Gol-gappa. His response, "Eat the pav bhaji and when done I will get you another order of gol-gappa. Need to make sure it doesn't get too cold." Lol. Check it out! read more

I enjoy chaat / street food a lot, but it is difficult to get good chaat. This was different. I had the dahi Bhalla, and a sample of the gol gappa and they tasted authentic. I also had a stuffed Kulcha and found it very tasty. I had not had this type of stuffed Kulcha before. It is nice to find regional dishes that try to stay true to their original taste, and I hope this restaurant does well. read more

My parents took me here because they came before and said that it was really good street food. It was amazing! The service was amazing and the hosts were super super nice. It was a very spacious area with lots of room and the food was all vegetarian which was nice because my family is vegetarian. They have chole bhature which is a must try as they have baked healthy bhature. Also pani puri and dahi puri is amazing.
