My husband Vince and Raj, the owner.

My husband and I hardly ever have dinner on High St. But now that we've found Chaang Thai restaurant, we will definitely be back! The owner Raj was so gracious and friendly, he even helped us place our order guiding us on the many options on the menu. The food was excellent! I had pad Thai as did my husband but he had the spicy version. The dumplings were tender and tasty and I gobbled up all of them! Our friends enjoyed their meals as well. The atmosphere is nice and fairly quiet, considering it's High Street which is pretty noisy on a Saturday night. Raj told us how he and his wife have owned and operated this place for the last 14 years and that his wife is a trained Thai chef. My husband and I both felt good about supporting a local business and the support was well deserved! If you're looking for some really great Thai food, this is the place. Ask for Raj and tell him Vince and Barbara sent you! You'll be glad you went. We'll be back!

Siam Duck, Duck fat needed rendering

We probably should have kept it simple, but we ordered 1 Duck Dish and one Soft Shell crab dish. Neither was any good. We did start the meal with Fresh Summer Roll. The sauce was good so made this dish a nice start to the meal The Siam Duck was a pretty dish, but was supposed to be Sliced crispy duck topped with chef's spicy sauce, carrot, onion, scallion and cashew nut. The Duck was not Crispy at all. It is a must to render some of the the fat from duck if you want it crispy and it is clear from the 1/2 inch of fat on each slice of meat that it was not. While the flavor was good, the meat was too tough to enjoy. The Soft Shell Crabs dinner provided 2 large soft shells. It is described as Crispy jumbo soft-shell crabs lightly fried w/ garlic & peppers, with your choice of sauce. Basil or Ginger. Another dish where the star, in this case fried soft shells needs to be crispy, and it wasn't. The crab was sitting in a pool of very thin sauce that made it mushy, and you just don't want to eat Mushy Fried Soft Shells Being that this place is in the middle of a college town, ordering something a bit out of the ordinary was probably a mistake. Next time we will stick with Chicken, Beef and Tofu.

I just moved to the area a few months and order from Chaang Thai for the first time tonight! Not only was the Pad Thai hot delicious, but I experienced such kind generosity as the restaurant added an additional N1 on the house! What the restaurant didn't know was that our house was full of sickness this weekend and we just needed an easy dinner, but couldn't justify spending extra on two separate dinners. We decided just to split one meal (assuming it would be a large portion) and were extremely surprised when two full dinners showed up. Chaang Thai, both meals were so delicious and your generosity made our entire day! Thank you so much. We will absolutely be dinning in with you in the future.

Was looking for Thai food while in Morgantown and ended up here. The setup is really awkward - you grab a table, order at a kiosk and then they bring it to you. Not the end of the world, but it seems super confusing for no reason. Regardless, food came out quickly, once I figured out how to correctly order. Would be nice if soup and appetizers came out first but they brought it all at once. As for the food - the Tom Yum (Lemongrass) soup had a delicious flavor. Mushrooms could have been cooked a little more but it was still really, really good. Pad Thai was also decent. Standard, but solid. I'm taking a star off for the awkward service, but otherwise, this place is solid.

N22. DRUNKEN Noodles Pad Kee Meo-Dinner -3PD Chicken Wide noodle Pretty good, would get again

I tried this place for take out. Ordered online. As others have mentioned neither their online ordering or in house ordering is straight forward. That's not really something I would cut them down for on stars though, after you do it once it makes sense. It's definitely set up as a more self service dine in situation. As for the food, I had pad kee mao (drunken noodles) and pad see ew, both pretty standard noodle dishes. The spicy scale is kind of hard to judge numbered from 1 to 10. All I can is a number 4 is minimally hot. The noodles in the pad see ew we're way over cooked, while the pad kee mao were great. I would get the pad kee mao again for sure, everything was good about it - chicken, flavor, noodles. The pad see ew was not great but might have just been a bad batch. Their menu is huge, this is the kind of place that is going to have some really great things and some not so great things. So hard to review just from one experience. I'm starting at 3 stars will revisit after next visit.

It looks like a standard sit-down restaurant but they've actually got a smooth fast casual sort of operation running, where you seat yourself, order at a computer console, and wait. The menu offers tons of customization. Tons. Particularly from a special diet perspective you can be very clear about what you want, getting gluten-free soy sauce or omitting egg or fish sauce. At its worst, this can convey a sense of being nickeled and dimed (why am I paying 50 cents for you to not use fish sauce?), but overall it's a big plus. My noodles were ample and tasted fresh. The one thing you couldn't customize was to ask them to leave the broccoli out of the tofu and vegetable option (I wanted all the other vegetables). They have a very detailed spice level chart and I ordered a 7. It wasn't really an upfront hit, but I did find my nose a bit runny afterwards. Notably, you can ratchet the spice level way up and pay extra for that. I was a bit miffed that I ordered cinnamon tea and didn't receive any. When I asked some people in back, I got an answer that they were out of it and eventually they produced some zingy ginger tea for me, but if I hadn't pushed they would have what, just taken my money and not even tried to provide a product? I don't care that much about the cinnamon tea, but if you're going to do this service model, you need to do it right. While I have some criticisms, the question for me is whether the food showed enough promise to justify coming back in the event that I pass through the area again, and that is a yes.

We were very hopeful for this restaurant because of how many good reviews are on Yelp. The ordering station is chaotic. There are 4 or so signs with all these instructions as soon as you walk in, and no one there to greet you. We ordered at the kiosk and sat at a numbered table. There were so many signs all throughout the restaurant, TV with sound on, and a mix of music that made no sense - going from rock n roll to soft jazz. Someone brought us our food, but nothing else. Never asked how anything was. Despite there being so many instructions for everything else, there were no signs telling me where to get my napkins, silverware, or water. There was no spice to the food despite asking for level 3, which was listed as hot. The food was just okay, but overall the ambiance and experience was not.

Literally the best halal chicken pad thai I've ever had. Yes, the ordering process is a bit odd in the sense that literally do everything yourself except cook the meal, but....halal chicken thai is amazing. The thai tea was great too!! I would have liked to get some for the road if they were open early enough and of course...the chicken pad thai. Have I mentioned that they are halal??

We stopped by while in the area visiting. We walked in to see the menu hanging on the wall. We walked in and placed our order on a computer and then paid at the register. They bring you your drink and food. They have condiments and silverware and napkins on a table toward the front. We sat in the front window to be entertained by the people walking by. We had ordered an extra Thai tea ($3.50) on accident some how but drank it anyway. Both drinks were very good. The Papaya salad ($7.95) was good along with the Pineapple fried rice($10.95). The bathrooms were ok but not great. The restaurant was fairly clean. If in the area again we may stop back in. Side note they do give a 5% discount for paying with cash.

Why isn't basil, jalepeno, and bean sprouts served with the pho???? Kinda confused.

Thanks for writing. If you are doing a Pickup order from us, we don't pack all those 5 essential veggies (Basil, Cilantro, Jalapeno, Beansprouts, lime). We keep them in a salad bar, in the dining area (along with 7 other condiments/toppings) as self… Read more

However, we realized…read morethere was going to be some interesting developments when the server came by and he seemed a little nervous, but that's understandable. In any case we placed our orders, I ordered the breakfast platter special, which was fried chicken and biscuits with country sausage gravy my wife ordered the eggs Benedict my daughter for her birthday ordered the French toast with two eggs and my son ordered the chicken and waffles. Talking first about the chicken and waffles. I've come to see that many locations offer chicken and waffles. This being about average for what I would consider chicken and waffles as it was a small filet cut in a half upon a very thin flat waffle, which would've done better to be a Belgian waffle with a much fluffier plump chicken filet. My son did enjoy it but when he finished it the server came by and he says did you enjoy that? Was it good, it must've been good because you ate everything! Then let's discuss my wife's eggs Benedict, which she thoroughly loved. However, the ham looked like it was sliced deli ham for a sandwich instead of Canadian bacon or a little thicker slice of country ham. It's not my call, as my wife said she enjoyed it. My daughter enjoyed her stuffed French toast and egg. Everything was cooked to her liking and she said it had a good flavor and of all four dishes that certainly was the best of the four. as for the last dish, my Sriracha sausage gravy, fried chicken and biscuit with home fries, the jury is still out as the home fries came out a little overdone and cold. The sausage gravy looks like somebody spread it on with a paintbrush, and it wasn't very warm. The chicken was warm and did taste good and the biscuit was good, but it made no sense when the server said, it comes smothered in sausage gravy. Take a look at the picture, and it looks more like a couple tablespoons of gravy on each biscuit with the chicken. We did have a good time and the ambience of the place was very nice, especially seated along the windows looking at the snow outside and perhaps we'll give it another shot at a later date. Overall, nothing over the top but nothing to make us fear coming back either. It was just kind of middle of the road, but I am glad that the nicest dish and the best presentation went to my daughter for her 20th birthday. At least that was a saving grace as well as the lunch with the movie, listening to the various antics and chatter coming from the server.

It was well past 2 o'clock, and I try not to drink coffee after 11ish-o'clock, because it usually messes with my sleep. But I remembered the words of a man much wiser than me who once said, "I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death," so I felt like a lil' iced coffee would actually be beneficial, in this case. No regrets. The iced coffee was great! I always forget about iced coffee when I'm at a coffee shop, because I just usually order a hot black coffee. I'm so stuck in my ways, sometimes! But iced coffee was a good choice in this situation, and it came with a little vanilla cream, which was unexpected but a nice indulgence. The Grind is located right across the street from West Virginia University. It was packed when I visited, and I imagine it is almost always packed, because of its location. But the people who work here are very efficient and friendly, and my iced coffee was ready lickety-split. I got my coffee to go, but there are some tables inside the coffee shop to sit and relax, if you wanted to. One of my favorite things about The Grind is that they have a confession box in the restroom. I left a little confession in the box, because it promised that the box was "a safe place to share what you can never tell a soul," and I felt that I could trust this random coffee shop in West Virginia with my whole heart. I left my confession there, and took my iced coffee with me and went on my way.
